The house you filmed first. I lived in it with my parents in 1953. My mother and all my uncles were born and raised in Jacumba. I have been down old 80 hundreds of times. Lived half my growing years in jacumba. Lots of great memories.

I grew up in the area. late 1970's. I remember all the property were owned by one person. they were all rentals. they were all painted white with red trim. there was a restaurant. Some of my friends lived there including my stepmom. Did a lot of hiking. Found a 1919 Pennie on the dirt road next to the large house or hotel. Many caves to be found.

Up until the mid 70's Hwy 80 was the only way from SD to the desert, I-8 wasn't finished, they were still building the Pine valley bridge so you took Hwy 94 which tied into 80 or 80 to go east. once I-8 was opened all the businesses and little communities along 80 started to disappear with only remnants left now.

Back in the late 60s/early 70s my grandfather had a rock and gift shop just east of Jacumba on old Hwy 80. I have scoured Google Earth trying to find where it was located, but I think it has been leveled. We made that long drive from Kearney Mesa to Jacumba more times than I can count when I was a kid.

Califas These Old Historic Homes date back as far as late 1800s to 1940s. Regarding the Holes, they can be anything from Water to Sewage? Don’t really know. As for this property it’s private and full of Rattlesnakes. And yes, there are Border Patrol Agents, Sheriff Deputies . If I were to be stopped by any Federal Agents of Deputies I would have told them I was in the market for buying a home. Also, none of these Old Houses are abandoned, they are being sold as historic homes under a Real Estate.

Dang someone could fall into one of those holes and get hurt. I'm surprised they're not covered up. But then again how many people does anyone expect to come around abandoned building? That certainly would be dangerous at night. It looks like all the buildings were stripped of the wiring and that's why there's no walls. I wouldn't be surprised if it was the man who owned the place oh, he probably figured he would cash in on the copper wiring and such. Because I'll come every single building looks like the walls have been torn out? And to think they were probably cute little houses at one time. People lived their lives there.
