I also studied in Chicago ( Northwestern University - Kellogg Business School) and then worked 3 years in Manhattan in a great internationnal company ... but in 1981 - Like you - I realized it was not the true life ... and I went back in Europe with less income but a true and real life !

Your video(s) is encouraging to say the least. I have a question though: how do you plan to support yourself financially living in a small village like yours (besides the TH-cam channel of course)? I’m not sure what living there is like but visiting is amazing. All that said, I think it’s even more amazing that your thinking to move back to Bulgaria. I truly believe that there is no place better than one’s mother country. I am still trying to orient myself as far as what I will do for work. I am very passionate about archeology but there are no jobs around here that relate to that. Right now I am running on savings and am uneasy about what I will do but am sure things will work out with time. I wish I could be of more help but the truth is there are not many opportunities in small villages like these. Bigger cities are a different story but come with more tension.

Там е малко по-уредено, поне в повечето отношения, а в БГ си имаме доста проблеми. Особено като се почна от короната, през войната на северния бряг на Черно Море, та чак досега нещата малко се влошиха като цяло, ама честно казано, не ми се иска да ми се налага, пак да ходя по чужбините, нищо че ми беше малко по-спокойно там (макар че чувам, че вече и там не е толкова спокойно). Колкото до Лондон - става за туристическа дестинация, да речем, за 2 нощувки. Лично аз съжалявам само, че не успях да отида до Стоунхендж докато бяхме там, ама живот, здраве и късмет - и това може да ми се случи в бъдещето 😁 Пожелавам Ви и вие да имате възможността да посетите Лондон, ама ако ще го правите, най-добре проверете прогнозата за времето преди да резервирате нощувки, билети и т.п. 😅

Thank you so much! Truthfully answer is yes unfortunately 😔 It has gotten rough the past few years. We have a lot of refugees that have been coming to the area and harming the locals. There have been break-ins, robberies and even serious beatings. Sadly, it’s not as safe out here as it used to be.
Great message about life in your videos ! Real communities and families, sharing the simple things of life. One funny question : being French and drinking pastis, I noticed the men drink a green drink, would it be pastis and mint sirup like we drink in France ?
It should be мента/ menta, a bulgarian peppermint liquor, very popular during the summer. It can be mixed with mastika, which is a Greek beverage, but also spread in Bulgaria and if you also add vanilla icecream and ice you get the refreshing summer beach cocktail Oblak (Cloud).😃

I dont think they mean dirty fish in the way you are thinking. The countries that may say so are just used to sea fish more. Lots of countries have big fishing fleets of sea trawlers. Fish in rivers eat plants and get a bacteria called geosmin in their muscles. To some people this tastes like mud. Sea fish don't get this as they eat smaller fish or plankton. Some say it is caused by fertilisers in the fields going into the rivers and makeing algae bloom. Because Bulgaria is lots of forest and a big place, maybe this is never a problem.
Yes! The muddy taste is the only problem that can come up with these fish sometimes. I did not know about geosmin.. thanks for sharing! Very interesting 🧐
It is funny to me that people in the city put up with constant, ugly noises, crime, traffic jams, rude people, and so on. But they think people that life a simple life in the quiet, beautiful countryside are not as smart as they are...LOL!
@3:57 True in America. You couldn't give away a carp in the US. I have never heard of anyone in the US eating carp. Anyone who catches a carp just automatically throws it back into the river.
No, there are no houses or land for sale. The younger generations have a bond with the village and everyone wants to hold on to their inheritance. Sorry 😕

Truthfully answer is yes unfortunately 😔 It has gotten rough the past few years. We have a lot of refugees that have been coming to the area and harming the locals. There have been break-ins, robberies and even serious beatings. Sadly, it’s not as safe out here as it used to be.

It should be мента/ menta, a bulgarian peppermint liquor, very popular during the summer. It can be mixed with mastika, which is a Greek beverage, but also spread in Bulgaria and if you also add vanilla icecream and ice you get the refreshing summer beach cocktail Oblak (Cloud).😃

I dont think they mean dirty fish in the way you are thinking. The countries that may say so are just used to sea fish more. Lots of countries have big fishing fleets of sea trawlers. Fish in rivers eat plants and get a bacteria called geosmin in their muscles. To some people this tastes like mud. Sea fish don't get this as they eat smaller fish or plankton. Some say it is caused by fertilisers in the fields going into the rivers and makeing algae bloom. Because Bulgaria is lots of forest and a big place, maybe this is never a problem.
