I love all of Ann's wardrobe. I love the shift dresses. You can not go wrong with great style. Even Jackie Onasis's outfits weren't that fantastic, even though hers was nice, too. I would wear those clothes today. Wow. Every outfit has a jacket to match. There is nothing that great today, in any stores. That's why I hang on to my wardrobe of my 80 - and 90s clothes. Thank God most of them still fit me.☺️🤗
Even from the very first season, you can see the easy chemistry they had…..and both very good actors even when the scripts aren’t always totally believable .
I always thought it would have been great if there had been a final episode where Don and Ann marry in a big church ceremony, then at the very end as the photographer takes their photo at the wedding cake, he says THAT COUPLE! Freeze frame. Fade out.
One of the many beauties of this show, is the extreme to which the writers kept taking it. Ann could not find the text she never had, and she lost her part time job. This unemployed, continuous job seeking actress, lives and dresses well.
I know and it’s always so funny that Marlo never saw that as a oddity with the show. She dressed like she was wealthy and had basic unskilled type jobs.
How could Ann not help but love Don after that book dedication? I believe this is the same book that her father takes to give to a publisher friend in a later episode. Ann intervenes when Lew refuses to show it to the publisher because he thinks the book is immoral.
Such a cute couple!...the woman trying on the wig plays Mildred Drysdale on Beverly Hillbilly... that's the first time I've heard any mention of Judy and Leon's baby since episode 1
At the lost and found office, Ann's wearing a white jumper over a green blouse with its collar out over the jumper and large green buttons starting at the shoulder and running down the right side. But in the next scene at the department store, the green blouse's collar is tucked beneath the jumper, and the green buttons on the right side start at mid-chest level.
Love this show!!!! It's so fun and charming... Her clothes are adoreable!! She matches every outfit so perfectly... Ann is so darling Don is so cute Lew is a riot!!!!! 😂😂😂❤❤❤.....
Hemingway did not end up well. In 1961, he ended his life, with a rifle. He was a brilliant writer, who struggled with depression, despite all his success. A very unhappy ending.
Ann is so undependable, in several eps she proves that. She should have held Donald's manuscript close to her chest during the whole trek home. She cared more about her clothes boxes...they could have been replaced, if lost.
Trivia: Both Bill Bixby and Charles Grodin were offered the part of Don Hollinger (Bill Bixby DID however later agree to a guest part on the show as a weirdo best friend of Don whom Ann gets trapped with.), before the producers then offered it to Ted Bessell.
"City of Strangers". I wonder if Stephen Sondheim nicked the title for the song in the musical Company, on which he worked at the time, this episode was aired.
Her leaving the book in the office doesn't make sense. Don would have reminded her to take the book. And how did it end up mixed in with the other typing paper?
We only saw her sitting at his desk and never saw her leave his office then it switches to a scene with her opening mail in her apt. I think we're supposed to assume anything could have happened, like Don may have walked Anne out of the office with all her packages and the secretary could have came in and moved it.
@MeMeDaVinci why is he always wrong and she is always right? She pretended she had read it and was prepared to lie to him and started lying. Then she turns it around and gets mad he did not tell her right away. Why do women support unfair behaviors?
In an interview, Marlo talked about how some folks said there was no way Ann Marie could afford that gorgeous wardrobe, and Marlo laughed and said, "Marlo couldn't even afford that wardrobe!"

It's a comedy. The lines usually aren't that believable.

The book's dedication says it all. Don really loves Anne.

@@MTknitter22 Maybe she made her own clothes. 😉

She couldn't have held it close because she left it in his office.

Don should have done the honorable thing and hide the manuscript in box under a soda pillow or somewhere in the apartment.
I thought it was honorable of him to finally be truthful and forgive her after her carelessness. Thought he handled it pretty well
Anne acted so foolish at her job.

I know it's knit-picking, but for him not to tell her right away is horrible...

Wow Pretty darn good rent at $ 88.00 a month
I think in the sixties, that was kind of expensive for an apartment. I could be wrong.
For an unemployed woman, Anne sure has an extensive wardrobe. Also, where does she keep them all? Her bedroom & closet are small.
