Just popped open a donrus hobby box. Daughter and I plan on opening them during these ufc fights this weekend. But we decided to open one pack each early. We PULLED a 1 of 1 Auto Stephen wonderboy Thompson. Card is a beauty and our first 1 of 1 for us as new to ufc card collecting
Congrats! That’s absolutely awesome! It can’t get any better than that. Welcome to the 1/1 club. I pulled my 1st and only from donruss this year. 1/1 Dustin 💎 Poirier Auto. Congrats again on the Wonderboy! 🤙
Both videos (pt1 & pt2) really informative and have helped me understand the different types of boxes and cards. Been buying singles but feel I’ve learnt enough from your videos to try my luck at a hobby box. You are right though - Not a hobby to make money from! Have subscribed and love the content 👍🏻
Great video! As well as the last beginners guide. By far i believe you said it the best out of the 20+ videos ive seen. Thanks man and i wish you the best of luck!!! Ps. Just subscribed today🎉
When people say 1/1, or 1/25, what exactly does that mean? 😅 There's only one (or twenty five) of that specific card fighter/color/style combination in existence?
Hey man I super confused on this one thing so I got just some packs off the shelf at target to start and I have some prisim cards and they are blue but they don’t have a serial number. Can’t find anything about this if you could help me out that be huge. Love the content so far
No problem Brotha. One thing to keep in mind is every set has different parallels. And every set will have a “retail exclusive” parallel. From what it sounds like you’ve got a Blue Velocity from a optic hanger pack. There should be 3-4 of them per pack. No # or anything just a cooler version of the base card. It’s tricky but you’ll eventually get the hang of it the more you open. Also every box/ pack will tell you what you’re looking for on the back/side. Good luck man 👊🤙
Apparently, I wouldn’t count on it though. If you’re looking for #d stuff I’d definitely do hobby. A full hobby is about $175 currently. Or there’s spots in breaks. In my opinion… way better than anything retail.
Probably the only fighters that are gonna hold value. But still idk if “investment” would be the term. I wouldn’t go all out because at the end of the day. UFC isn’t as big as other sports yet.
Great advice here bud. "Watch the sport" is the best advice. I knew Conor and izzy were going to be Champs before it happened and went hard on there cards trying to get rookies. Last year was Khamzat. Sometimes u can just see it coming by the style of fighting the fighter has compared to the rest of the division. Great video bro.
Much appreciated brotha. A lot of people just end up buying after it’s too late, then leave the hobby. 🤷♂️ that’s why it’s better to just be a collector. 😂 And exactly… like Yanez… eventually I think he’ll be champ
@@TheGoldenOctagon do you build out a base set every year from a product you like? Getting back into collecting but want to be more simple and organized to this time around
It depends. MOST (not all) autographs come on a sticker put on the card by panini already “guaranteed authentic” they so have some sets where they get the fighter to sign on card. But if you were to personally meet a fighter to get him/her to sign that’s dope too. It’s all your personal preference. I wouldn’t buy any 2nd hand in person autos without it being authenticated 1st. I hope this helps 🙏
@@TheGoldenOctagon thanks ! It helps a lot !i Will make à picture of it when it happens...first, panini has to release my favourite fighter's card, Benoît st Denis "god of war"
Hey man, good question! I made this before optic came out. The main difference is the regular Donruss is printed on paper stock. And the Optic is printed on more of a plastic (like prizm and select if you’re familiar with that). There’s a few other differences like inserts and such but card design is basically the same.
And always hobby 1st. Very few exceptions retail is better. I made a opening everything from 2022 video as well. I open and rank everything that came out last year. Kinda a long video. But all my thoughts for the most part. 🙏🤙
Thanks for stopping by! 👊 I appreciate it man! No need, I haven’t pulled a # paddy all year 😂 only base for the most part. He’ll eventually lose… not against Gordon though. UFC is matching him correctly for now.
Unless working with Khabib has helped a ton…. He shoots and gets subbed. Paddy is too slick on the ground. Until he fights someone with power, good hands and takedown D….. paddy via sub until I’m wrong 😂😂 Much love brotha 👊👊👊
All rookies are good, but Paddy specifically is a good hit. He’s a new “star” of the sport. But the “rated rookies” themselves are just an insert/subset of donruss
Hey just started watching your videos like a week now and I’m curious on certain ufc packs and what value certain cards would be if you were able to help out, but anyways keep up the good work
Yeah I was thinking the same. I just happened to stumble upon these and now I’m addicted lol so many colors and variations only thing I don’t like is u have to get hobby boxes for certain cards or colors. Can’t see myself spend that much on a hobby box
Sweet job Matt, enjoy the content and enthusiasm for the sport. Noticed your a Khamzat fan, is it just me or has his cards dropped dramatically in price since his missing weigh fiasco?

🙏🙏🙏
I’ve opened 9 select 2022s blasters and agree - got an elephant, gold, loads of variations but no autos and only 1 numbered card
I tell everyone…. If you’re not me…. You’ll have luck with them.
Another Awesome video bro!. Bring on ufc 281 can't wait
Much appreciated brotha🤙. The main is terrifying to me. I’m a big Izzy fan. But, man something tells me it’s gonna be a bad night…..
@@TheGoldenOctagon same bro it's gonna be intense. Awesome to see 4 fighters from New Zealand on that event.
Just getting started with my collection, so far my best card i believe is /99 rated rookie blue Shavkat. thanks for the tips brother
Hey Brotha, that’s a very nice card! 🔥👊🤙
Great video, dude!
Much appreciated brotha, thanks for always stopping by man 🤙👊👊👊
I got a card with optic I opened chronicle yesterday and there is a optic Dan ige
There’s going to be a whole set of those coming out at the end of the year
Absolute Banger Video 💥👌🏽
Much appreciated brotha 👊🤙
Thanks for making these
No problem 🙏👊🤙
This is what I needed!!!!
I’m glad I could help, check out part 1 if you haven’t. Thanks for watching 👊🤙
When people say 1/1, or 1/25, what exactly does that mean? 😅 There's only one (or twenty five) of that specific card fighter/color/style combination in existence?
Yes that’s correct. Every #ed card will be stamped with a # (ex. 24/25). And those correlate to the color of the card.
/25 would mean there’s 25 of them that all look the same. 1/25, 3/25, 15/25, 25/25 are all the same card. Just stamped with a different #

Probably the only fighters that are gonna hold value. But still idk if “investment” would be the term. I wouldn’t go all out because at the end of the day. UFC isn’t as big as other sports yet.

I think next year its gonna be bo nickel rookie. Got a fiziev rookie mezzanine one of one on select this year. Select and prism are my favorite.
Good sets to enjoy brotha 👊. That Bo card is gonna go crazy this year. Thanks for watching 🙏 check back tomorrow for my “of of the year video”
Do you build sets with your base or just put them away? How you still in box or book in sleeves?
I build one base set in a binder with sleeves, I’ll separate the rookies and stars, sleeve and topload them, then put my extras in a box in storage.
@@TheGoldenOctagon do you build out a base set every year from a product you like? Getting back into collecting but want to be more simple and organized to this time around
I try to make every set, I’m buying everything at the end of the day.
What about make a fighter signing his own card? Is it a good idea? The value of the card increase or not?
It depends. MOST (not all) autographs come on a sticker put on the card by panini already “guaranteed authentic” they so have some sets where they get the fighter to sign on card.

Still waiting for the optics to come out...2021 immaculate is now as low as 900 a pack
Still an awful price for 6 cards.
So prizm is the best then select then donrus then chronicles ?
Whatever you like. Everyone has their favorites
@@TheGoldenOctagon what you think about optic?
Hey man, I’ve got tons of newer videos out. One where I opened everything from 2022 and rank them.
Thanks for the video. Valuable info for newbies & vets alike, I think.
Also, Paddy about to get badly exposed. Start selling off the collection. ;)
Thanks for stopping by! 👊 I appreciate it man!
No need, I haven’t pulled a # paddy all year 😂 only base for the most part.
He’ll eventually lose… not against Gordon though. UFC is matching him correctly for now.
@@TheGoldenOctagon We shall see! It's honestly a big step up for ol' Patrick.

How do you feel about the chronicles? I’ve watched both beginners and you’ve hardly mentioned them so I’m curious. It’s what I’ve bought the most off
It’s not my favorite set. I’ve opened a ton, just not a fan of paper cards really. Prizm is where it’s at imo
Off topic, did you ever get that DP 1/1 graded?
Not yet. I will eventually
So rated rookie is good ?
All rookies are good, but Paddy specifically is a good hit. He’s a new “star” of the sport.

My end of year video should help a ton.
I’d definitely go with hobby over anything that you’d get at a retail store.
I think these cards will get more and more popular. These cards are fairly new and the ufc isn’t done growing. Am I being optimistic? Lol
Nothing but room to grow, ufc is a fraction compared to other sports. Most people just don’t know UFC cards exist.
Yeah I was thinking the same. I just happened to stumble upon these and now I’m addicted lol so many colors and variations only thing I don’t like is u have to get hobby boxes for certain cards or colors. Can’t see myself spend that much on a hobby box
Yeah it’s definitely not cheap to rip open but it’s definitely a thrill. Buying single cards is definitely the much smarter option. 🤙
Sweet job Matt, enjoy the content and enthusiasm for the sport. Noticed your a Khamzat fan, is it just me or has his cards dropped dramatically in price since his missing weigh fiasco?
They definitely have. But that makes it easier to get my hands on some.
1 auto and 1 memorabilia for donruss 2022
