When I left school in 1948 my first job was in a blacksmiths shop in England. He used to turn his scrolls without a torsionator, by hand. The torsionator certainly takes a lot of hard work and time out of the job. I'm not a blacksmith but I like your videos and find them fascinating. My grandson is outside as I write this using a set of ordinary fireplace bellows I made him for Christmas a few years ago, to get the heat up for some sort of knife he is making. He has made me promise to make him a forge. Thanks again for the videos Great stuff..
Nice great job as a retired welder of 32 yrs built ski lifts for 25 yrs I have to honestly say I miss it , its nice having good equipment, My very last welding job I Fabricated 1/3 of the steel barrier fence that surrounded ground zero after 911 , great work
What a great machine, wish had one when i was making scrolls, much better than welding studs to the bench and pulling like hell, didnt need to go to the gym though !
Silly things like this make me want to be a backwoods(-ish) canadian blacksmith. Outside of the bad back, and the inevitable joint loss, it looks like a lot of fun.
Great design and Fabrication!! If you don't mind saying - is it speed reduction gear drive or hydraulic? Based on the Sound I guessed gear drive. Very Impressive How it works - Very Smooth - And I could tell even with 3/4 bar it was not (obviously) straining!
I picked up a trick to close a pair of vise grips from my shop teacher a little while ago; if you were to have held it backwards from how you were holding it, it snaps shut with much less effort. Good betting game too, see who can close it tightest!

Silly things like this make me want to be a backwoods(-ish) canadian blacksmith. Outside of the bad back, and the inevitable joint loss, it looks like a lot of fun.
@ornametalsmith I've thought about that, and I usually forget to deploy that idea when the time comes!
