You can test him seconds before walking to that point in the room, proving he's not infected, and he'd still transform. The game has triggers set up for certain NPC allies so they turn on you. That's ON TOP of the randomized chance an ally could be infected when you test them normally. The tests should basically never be used on allies. It only takes away a teammate from you. Instead, if you play this game, use them on yourself to build trust with teammates so they'll cooperate.

i keep coming back to this playthrough because i can't wrap my head around whether or not the game devs were actually brilliant or accidentally created and sowed the seeds of hysteria in their players. did they account for the fact that the AI can sometimes be janky so you can attribute it to the technical aspects of the game OR to the fact that one of them is assimilated? did they anticipate that someone who so easily creates narratives in their head about their "friends" and gets gaslit by a livestream chat could whip himself up into such a frenzy that he tests a clean party member then promptly shoots him anyways? truly unprecedented psychological effects from this game.

Like the emotional arc it puts the player through, which is extremely similar to the movie, and it does this not because the game itself is scary, but because the Jank makes you genuinely fear for your character's safety so you don't have to repeat levels that suck ass. And add Jerma into it and it's a cinematic experience rivaling the original movie. It's so good.

Well, for one, Jerma joked about downloading software to allow for save states during the video. Second, regardless of the platform, he's limited to saving at designated points in the game and having the means to circumvent that would've been convenient. Third, remove the stick lodged up your ass.

this is one of the best jerma streams ever done, and this edit does it justice. anytime i need some good, funny, comfy jerma this is the video i choose. it's perfect.
The thing (haha) about this game is its such an interesting concept of a game, but they had trouble based on team interviews getting the AI to do 100% what they wanted. They really did desire the random concept however even upon reload of checkpoints/saves of the AI capacity to become the Thing. It's also important to keep in mind for anyone playing this game that unlike most movie licensed titles now but especially at that time, they were afforded creative freedom in a lot more ways then expected and also importantly wanted to make this game. The infection system, the fear system, some twists with original content all added up to a flawed but respectable title. I would really appreciate if someone ever got the shot to do something like this again.

Why would he use Savestates? It's a game for PC you dolt, not an emulated one.
Well, for one, Jerma joked about downloading software to allow for save states during the video. Second, regardless of the platform, he's limited to saving at designated points in the game and having the means to circumvent that would've been convenient. Third, remove the stick lodged up your ass.

The thing (haha) about this game is its such an interesting concept of a game, but they had trouble based on team interviews getting the AI to do 100% what they wanted. They really did desire the random concept however even upon reload of checkpoints/saves of the AI capacity to become the Thing. It's also important to keep in mind for anyone playing this game that unlike most movie licensed titles now but especially at that time, they were afforded creative freedom in a lot more ways then expected and also importantly wanted to make this game. The infection system, the fear system, some twists with original content all added up to a flawed but respectable title. I would really appreciate if someone ever got the shot to do something like this again.
