Just what I needed. A expensive, fragile set of ar/vr glasses I could sit on, drop , or drop and step on and damage permanently in two seconds.😆
Vr and ar become boring after a while I don't know why but I think cause most of its games and experiences are bad and also vr needs touch feeling and be more comfortable...

I was going to say you should check out north focal glasses, but apparently they sold them selfs to google last year🤦♂what a waste. Tho apparently it was lack of buyers that killed them, was really looking forward to the 2.0.
In order for something like this to take off, they really need to open it up to 3rd party software developers and get a market of apps games and functions going for it.
They already do. The SDK is available and there are already apps in the Play Store 👍
I think ar should more be a add on for people with glasses. Hands-free functions. Glasses could use some future features because there are many possibilities
Also they need to be a lot smaller and not stand out so much. Look like proper glasses
They should also add a walking mode where you can walk around and watch stuff at the same time??

For A.R. to have any real functionality, it has to be able to be used and seen out and about. The whole purpose of A.R. is to "add" to reality. I doubt you (or anyone else) would be comfortable wearing those A.R. specs outside the home environment. As a first commercially available consumer product, I guess NReal aught to congratulated, so props to them for being the first outta the gate.
Was the MS Hololens not a commercially available consumer product? Perhaps it was only available for devs. I'm really not sure. I had a friend pick one up and I tried it on several years ago, but it had such limited functionality
the a is for augmented not add. for AR to have purpose apple or Samsung or even meta would have to pick them up. no other way for them to be mainstream so that's all we're waiting for. the second one big company picks up AR the growth will shoot off like a rocket so fast. invest while you still can !!

I think the most exciting aspect of this hardware is that it shows that a good AR experience is possible in this form-factor. All it's going to take is iteration from here to make a truly killer mass-market product.
I see this mostly *marketed* for gaming situations in this video but I bet there are some seriously effective use cases for using text displays as a space to take notes and keep from forgetting things. Combine it with some parallax lidar and you can start mapping wireframes over real space to display measurements of things for example.
i don't want just another version of my phone screen, ya know. I want a lightweight os and window manager to take use of the increased value of data imprinted on top of your visual field
Not perfect.. but imagine how amazing that is.. and how close we are to getting the ones we always see in sci fi movies.
They've already got them, they just dont share. We had hover tecnology vehicles run on free energy back in the 60's (just like the jetsons cartoon) but they cant make money out of free energy. Same as having us use God given natural medicine to cure us is kept from us. instead they like to create their own that DOESNT cure us but keeps us ticking over and dependent (and often sick with something else aka side effects just like the infamous jibbyjab of 2020 onwards)
Prototype based technology is what it FEELS like this is I am not impressed yet with the screen size it needs to cover like a virtual reality headset actually can then it becomes true Augmented Reality. The screen size I am still skeptical on but I am thinking of actually buying a pair versus getting a new Smartphone.
I can already imagine a near future when your desk is uncluttered because it will have no monitors - just a pair of glasses.
And a few pairs for your friends to see what you're seeing.

Google glasses weren't even allowed in Google meetings because of privacy issues. There's also a reason most people still use laptops with docking stations) in business. They're much more effective than tablets for productivity. These will probably find a place (in areas where you need to use your hands a lot and can use references) but the interface needs to be tweaked a lot to find an optimum way for them to work. Just like phones some interface designs work better on a PC and phone tend to be completely different.
@@geneanthony3421 well, people can still use their mouse and keyboard, but they will have a more flexible way of viewing content, that's all.
That said, trust issues will be a bigger concern because your boss won't be able to peek at what you're doing right now, unless your screens aren't duplicated and monitored by someone (maybe even AI?), but oh well, with every new convenience there's almost always a compromise to be made

If the AR overlay is contained within a corporate environment and all info injected also within that network or filtered / monitored it could be your boss is sat on not only your lap but everybody's lap in the organization. I can see use cases where AR could enhance security for sensitive data.

This is targeted at enthusiasts willing to pay the early adopter tax in order to sample a small taste of the future of technology.

we're lucky that most technology nowadays makes life comfortable, and you can wait until the 3rd 4th generation of a product before you purchase. This new tech is definitely seen as a must buy now. It's the literal future, to go handsfree with our tech and access to the mobile web. How could anyone not purchase any iteration. Even Google Glass was bad ass with what few capabilities it had, though considered a failure.
This would be cool attached to a computer to work on multiple screens so you don't have to buy multiple monitors.
This is possible with current VR glasses. The main issue for most people though is that the resolution of reality glasses is still too low for it to be objectively better than just having another monitor. Once the resolution of glasses becomes about 8k+ then we will likely start seeing that

This was a very good review! There were features that are included and not included that I had questions about with this product and you answered them!
I think they could benefit from a more wrap around style to keep more light out and look better from the side.

This is a great break down of what's currently possible with this hardware! I can see that it's going through the same development cycle that VR has gone through. VR goggles were slow, clunky, with limited usage, but with the recent products like the Quest 2, you get an amazing experience with games and utilities. So I can't wait to see how AR/XR improve over the years to come.

Man I can't wait until the tech advances a ton so not only is it waay better, but also when they're waay advanced past where they are now so they can make it much cheaper. And the stuff that's super advanced now and $600-2,000 is actually reasonable prices(yeah I know it's waaay out but tech always gets cheaper as it gets older, well most of it does). Imagine what VR/AR is going to be like in 8-10 or 15-20 years holy crap. Also as much as I'm ehh on the "MetaVerse" I bet if they do a great job on that and it makes them a ton of money it will advance the technology a ton especially with stuff like glasses and anything so regular people can just put on something small to use it rather than a big ass Quest.

Pretty cool, still in the concept phase it seems. This kind of tech would be very useful in the construction industry to supplement Trimble and other 3d cad powered AR equipment.
Some companies are trying to develop contact lenses with AR, which is very interesting indeed.
These look good but I’m strangely more excited about the NReal Air that’s coming out soon. I actually won a pair from Nreal so I’m looking forward to trying it!

This company does all these amazing things, but the second Apple comes out with their AR glasses no one will remember NREALs name. 😔

Enlighten me because all they do is re-release their phones with an upgraded camera and specs here and there. Nothing groundbreaking if you step back and see it objectively. You'll realize that most phones you replace for a "newer" model are only a few specs better than last year's model and older models can still work and function as much as the latest one. But since almost everyone -wants- needs to have the latest model, I'm sure they already have a well-composed excuse and rationale.

Makes me wonder why the larger player's have yet to manage bringing a product to market?
Because the larger players are waiting until they can hit the ground with something "perfect" yet "affordable". Which of course won't happen until *someone* brings a product to consumers, even if it has some sacrifices due to the limitations of modern technology. Facebook has been clear that they are working on consumer AR glasses, but say it's years away; it's not really a secret that Apple is working on their own, but the rumors all agree that Apple's AR glasses will hit years after their VR glasses (which are rumored for next year).
In the meantime, for consumers NReal is where it's at, with Tilt Five coming next.

It would be interesting to know how well these work to wear over a pair of corrective eyeglasses.
Probably not very well -- seems from the fact that they have a frame in the box that they expect you to get your prescription lenses fitted to the device rather than using a pair of specs at the same time.
I have NReal glasses, they actually do fit over my normal distance glasses without any image degredation, but it makes me look goofy. I took the magnetic clip-on included in the box to my eye doctor, and they are making prescription lenses for it (for $100).

Finally reaching my Dreams. I have so much hype for it like it could scan nerf weapon and augment virtually, zumbies appears or spaceships flying above your bed while you shoot.
So many great things like yugioh on it would be epic.. monsters rise from cards in 3D in your Table.
I cant wait, next year i Will prepare my pocket for it.

I guess when I think of my dream AR device, I'm thinking of glasses that aren't physically tethered to my phone, and can be controlled via hand tracking. I want Minority Report level glasses now! 😆 But this is a nice baby step, I suppose.
The thing i like is not having a big housing out front of your face that adds weight. This is like sunglasses the screen is smaller than i like . If i developed this i would have allowed for different sizing of this screen depending whether you use it for computer screen searches or to to view a game or video. I think screen sizing would add to the experience. It's highly promising because it eliminates the bulk which the other VR have. It also could use some blockage for contouring to your face cutting outside light.
This is so cool if I have money I'll buy it ASAP but I'm currently stuck with my 100$ phone :)

For me to get AR glasses one they need to be wireless I need to be able to wear them all day. That being said they need to look more like normal glasses to help blend them in a little bit, so you don’t stand out so much. Also hand tracking I wanna be able to get notified I got a messages and be able to open it and reply without having to turn on my phones screen or even touching my phone. I feel like we’ve got awhile until we get to that point so until then I’ll wait.

As someone who has played with using HMDs since 2006, I'd never pay $600 for this.
The ability to resize the windows is neat, I guess, but I've used various displays and goggles for hundreds of hours over the last fifteen years. But if I was looking for something that can essentially only be used in doors, I'll always pick a projector over goggles. Even goggles with head tracking don't completely sell me on the idea - at least not in their current form.
Until these can be used outside, with at least 16 hours of battery life, and offer "useful" applications instead of just games and demos, a projector is a much better buy
You can use these to stick a video on the wall while cooking etc., you aren't going to put a projector in every room.

In a darkened room/ with the clip ons, it's essentially an OLED display. That's better than any projector even twice the price of this...
I really want these but, I need to wait it out fore a wireless version. Hopefully by then we will have eye tracking for typing and, stuff. Then we can all have shifty eyes
This is the future. We will not have TVs or monitors, it will all be AR. Would be cool if you could hook this up to your car and have a HUD in your car, like a fighter plane, lol.
They sell something already that's very similar to the way these glasses work for that exact purpose. You lay it on your dash, below the windshield, and it reflects the image onto the windshield.
Idk if it's still a thing, but I had one about six years ago. Same problem as these glasses - doesn't work great during the day. But at night time it was nice, especially when using GPS, to have the directions right there on the windshield.
I believe they make an app for your phone that you can use to do the same thing. Turn it on, set the phone on your dash, and there you go
@@zp944 Yeah I use to have one of those little HUDs, it showed speed, RPMs, and couple other stuff. Mine had a little window cling that was a little darker and was able to use it fine in the daylight. I was thinking more full HUD display. Imagine having an overlay of the GPS up in the right corner of the windshield, with the speed and everything else in front of you.

under normal intense use, how long does a charge last? If you could only use it for a hour, before being forced to recharge it,
that would suck.
pair this with the Steam-Deck and you'd have the best of both handheld gaming and large format displays only in VR.
Ahh, there you go, there's no need to fight for a big screen or so much a hassle to carry a laptop for gaming anymore.

What is the accessibility like on the Nebula app? I would need the prescription lenses and with lower vision than a person with 20/20 vision, I'm not sure if I'd benefit from using these glasses. It'd be great if I could go to a store and try these out in a demo.

If they could implement AR onto something like pit vipers, I think they'd be better off. Bigger glasses for more visual clarity and better visibility.

This is the next smartphone. Everyone wearing shades acting like they are paying attention to eachother much easier to fake than head-drop staring down at a iphone.
Not ready yet. It’s gonna take a while until it becomes ready and mainstream.
For these to be practical they need to also have corrective eyesight lenses integrated in the software, which I think apple glasses will incorporate..
There are myopic adjustment for some already, I backed a Rokid Air last July, and it comes with myopic knobs on both eyes. Of course new techs need some more time to develop, but it is coming out and becoming mainstream soon.
Contact lenses
I already own one similar but it has built in android. I rooted it and I don't need to connect my phone to it. I can if I wanted to. I can also connect my consoles to if I wanted to and I see a 72 inch screen and I can use Bluetooth headphones to connect to listen to it privately or use the headphones jack.
Can you use the unreal for video calls like Facebook calls, WeChat, and what’s app?

I want my AR glasses to entirely replace my phone. I'm okay with carrying around a compute unit in my pocket provided it's wireless and I never have to take it out of my bag or whatever.

But I wasnt impressed my any means. Especially For $650 after tax through Verizon.
You can only use a handful of useless apps the rest is web browsers. The fov is way to small. It blurs when you turn your head. Hand tracking doesn't work. The phone remote option I had to keep recalibration. I was done with it within 30 minutes. I didn't even let family try them because they sucked that bad. I wanted to at least be able to use navigation. I returned mine the following day. I will wait for a more polished set even if it costs more.
few more years of hardware innovation i recon but we will get there!

One day it will be our TV / Computer / Imax all in one. maybe way cheaper that big Tv's or projectors though they have laser projectors which are smaller and produce large images in HD with very close table top setup.
