His interview with the Stanford Business School is full of great business nuggets for any entrepreneur or college student to follow. Another awesome choice Evan, keep up the great work!
+briansmobile1 Thank you to Levi's Matola for requesting this one. I've watched many of these wonderful videos and this one is possibly by favorite. Maybe it's from my time in India, but I really like what was said and how he said it. Vinod Khosla is bold, but not over bearing. He's persistent, but not pesky. He's like a tough ship that just keeps going through the storm while everyone else goes for the shore. Reminds me of that scene in Forest Gump when everyone's boats are destroyed, but the Jenny.
That would be a miss matched casting fit in my opinion. He's praised irrationality, having conviction, opinion, and belief. He's about persistence, and denigrates analyst and expert opinion.
I'm definitely loving #6. We can't do anything new if we aren't willing to go beyond the norm and take the risk. We have to keep experimenting and adventuring. How is everyone else going beyond the traditional?
This guy is inspiring in so many ways. Just started to follow him now is all... "Have the guts to follow your beliefs" is not so easy, needs guts to do guts 😂 But, loved how he says "beliefs" and not "heart" 🙏
truly incredible....I am truly all over again committed to my strategy because of my belief system....Evan make a video on Phil Jackson...and my name is J.J.Simmons
I agree one 100% with the comment he makes about english majors... if that was his assessment about english (and most other foreign language) majors in stanford... just imagine the counterparts in indian universities... In india we have wasted a century focussing on english based education... i for one have felt a misfit and continue to feel so...
#2 is a great reminder that people like Jeff Bezos and the google guys started off with one idea that has allowed them to expand into other fun areas, which means the little guy has a shot if she/he just focus on the little things in his/her business now. P.S. the bonus is awesome 👍🏼
Rick- Thanks for the rapid reply and plan for action. I find myself at a crossroads, very bitter sweet, because I was wooed by a Air Force Colonel promising he wanted to take me off the fast track and provide for me as well as my Mom. He ended up, as I discovered with great hardieveship, to be an abusive, narcissistic personality. He enjoys to see me suffering etc. However, finally a divorce was started in May 2015 and our final 2 day trial this Tues-Wed should culminate in divorce. I have been listening to your TOP TEN series and have been inspired. I believe there are many prople like me -suffering quietly in marriage not empowering nor encouraging but rather having a husband who is very abnormal. Your youtube top ten series have been very uplifting for me! The videos have inspired me to think about writing a book, or webinar series.....topic? I am thinking about "Top Ten Dos and Don't to Move From Surviving Your Abusive Marriage to Leaving Safely and Thriving!"
I think he is a little cynical when he talks about why people are delusional working for consultants....they have important roles in the world. Not everybody really has beliefs that are empowering or world changing. What if a person is Stalinist or religious radical?? The world needs passionate leaders and they might be lucky enough to follow his advice, but not everyone has the right mix to drive disruptive change. We need managers, consultants, and process people to run these disruptive changes and they need to be passionate and open minded in their jobs too.
+garvoi Instead of focusing on the one thing that you don't like in this video, focus on what you CAN learn from and appreciate. My goal with these videos isn't that you become exactly like any of the people I profile... it's to take what helps you to become to best version of yourself. #BTA121
+Evan Carmichael Becoming a better version of yourself is the reason why I come to your site everyday to start my mornings Evan. I listen to the videos because I like the messages of "not listening" to the naysayers and to believe in who you are --to be open minded and loving what you do. This video struck me because I have a good friend who went into consulting because he loved it. He did well but was passed up for the promotion to become partner and was devastated. But instead of letting it bring him down, he pushed hard and ended up starting up his own consulting firm and is doing extremely well. I would not call his business disruptive or a game changer, but he has created jobs and has done important work for major firms. I wrote my piece for these people. They too need to BELIEVE, that what they do matters - and to not let even well known "successful" people make them feel that what they are passionate about is a waste of time and has no utility in making this world a better place. I follow Vinod on Twitter and read a lot about his work -- I am a fan, but I feel this point he makes should not go without some sort of caveat. But keep up the good work Evan, I do love the site, and I do come here to listen and take in all the positive messages. Just because I left that message it doesn't mean that I only filtered out of that point.

Is it wrong that I want to see Vinod Khosla in a Star Trek movie? I have a belief he would fill the Spock void and take it to new heights.
