Great tutorial! Just so you know, a channel called "NIK ARTIST 89" completely copied this video down to the script and is presenting it as his own material. I was going to report it but TH-cam wouldn't do anything since I'm not the original creator.
I saw the comments on that other channel and came here to watch the original. I don’t see a way to block but I was able to hide that user from my YT suggestions.
literally thank you so much?? idk if im just stupid but this was the first digital painting tutorial i was actually able to correctly understand every step and feel good about the results
I'm glad you found this tutorial helpful! And thank you for your comment! Do check out my other tutorials, I'm sure you'll find some of them very useful too.
1. on a graph, the highest point has the most highlight, and the lowest point has the least highlight, even shadow. it peaks at the lustre. for metal to look like metal, it has to peak. 2. piece of armour. - shoulder pad. *SHADOW REALM* 3. give each plate of the armour a different shade. where one plate overlaps another give extra darker shadow using smooth brush. 4. now add shadow with hard brush 5. add highlights on the rims. 6. make the metal muddy and rough by making hte highlights that way. 7. give the metal some life by adding random colours. 8. give it scratches. 9. increase contrast.
Great tutorial for teaching us. So, thank you so much. I watch your tutorial from bangladesh. I think a lot of learning point in your tutorial. It is really helpful for me.
Sorry I've watched your vid a couple of times lustre is pronounced luster like meter or metre. The fact that I've watched it couple of times makes it a good video and worthy of a sub, so no real grief. 👍
I love your tutorial series and they've helped my art a lot! I was wondering if you'd be willing to do a video on hair or fur in the future? That'd be super helpful!
Good video mate, it is helping a lot. Could you please tell me what brush from your pack you are using at 6:39 please? I cant seem to find the exact one.
Wow, this is very very useful, I'll make sure to try this in my next drawing :) However I do have to say, a realistic armor won't have rust, unless of course the knight doesn't care about their armor. But even then it's still useful and good to know how to apply a rusty look to metal objects.
Your videos are very helpful for me .. thank you!.. I have a request… recently i was looking for how to create buildings.. sci-fi futuristic building concept.. but I rarely found any on TH-cam.. and as I love the way you explain and show how’s it’s done .. can you make a video on that?
Up until like the 7 minute mark of this video I can manage, but somehow after that some magic happens I just cannot wrap my head around. The ''uneven metallic look'' is something I just cannot do... it always looks like dirt in my paintings. And not just in metallic objects, but any texture I'm trying to paint. Lot's of people think anatomy and figure drawing is the hardest, but I really think it's shading and texturing.
Thank you for this, working on my own project and needed some advice to make it pop! Out of interest, from start to finish, how long does something like that take you?
This was awesome.reslly helped.just couldn't get the textured brush part at 8:00 used to make the metal look more dense and painterly . Where do I get that sort of brush from?can I recreate the same effect with just a round brush?
Hi, i really like your videos and i like drawing (digital art) Photoshop ... Do you learned by your self or you study in university or some special class?
What would you do with a shiny bright metal in the dark? Most tutorials just cover daytime reflections, but I'm not really sure how to apply that to somwhere where it's nighttime with a fire in the distance
I used a modified version of the default chalk brush. But you can use the normal. Default chalk brush also, with 50% fill and 70% opacity, increasing the spacing to 5-6 could useful too.
Good video, but this is exactly like Brandon McCamey’s metal tutorial… even the reference lol…do you just keep getting ideas from other digital artists on TH-cam or is it just a coincidence? Idk… your videos are always so similar 🤔
I just went ahead and looked up this video, and wow, he too made a video on painting metal armor, that too a shoulder pad. I never saw the video but I've definitely seen the thumbnail before. I guess the thumbnail kinda stuck in my my memory somewhere deep within the sub consciousness of my mind? That's the closest thing I can think of.

You have got to do more like these, maybe on different materials like leather textures! Hope a series comes from this.
I came here to learn about metal texture and unexpectedly blown away of your layer technique. This will save me SO much time painting, Thanks! 🤜🤛
Great tutorial! Just so you know, a channel called "NIK ARTIST 89" completely copied this video down to the script and is presenting it as his own material. I was going to report it but TH-cam wouldn't do anything since I'm not the original creator.
Hey thank you so much for bring this to my attention! Really appreciate it!
