Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor, bestselling author of My Stroke of Insight, joins @BanyenBooksSoundVancouver for a discussion on her new book, Whole Brain Living.
Whole Brain Living is available from Banyen: banyen.com/ite...
Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor is a Harvard-trained neuroanatomist. In 1996 she experienced a severe hemorrhage in the left hemisphere of her brain causing her to lose the ability to walk, talk, or recall any of her life. Her book, My Stroke of Insight, documenting her experience with stroke and eight-year recovery, spent 63 weeks on the New York Times bestseller list. Her TED talk has had over 26 million views, she has been a premiere guest on Oprah Winfrey's "Soul Series", and she has been named one of Time magazine’s “100 Most Influential People in the World”. Her new book 'Whole Brain Living: The Anatomy of Choice and the Four Characters that Drive Our Life' blends neuroanatomy with psychology to show how we can short-circuit emotional reactivity and find our way to peace.

Thank you, I so needed this...

I remember an interview with Dr Rudolf Tanzi saying where do we store memory of our child when newborn? I watched it a while back; early on when I had a traumatic brain injury.
I do not know, if by now they have met (Dr Tanzi and Dr Bolte) that this information is tied up as a rope for us, to benefit from in the recovery of traumatic brain injury.
Edit ✍️ Dr Tanzi's work focus is on Alzheimer.

I learned so much from this talk. The questions were just what I wanted to know but couldn’t articulate. Having my “huddle” will be a new phenomenon. My ch 1 will be thrilled to be included as my ch 4 (?) likes to run the whole show- be in bliss, be late, etc.

Good evening, I have a question for Jill. I had a stroke in August 2007. I was lying on as sofa watching a movie, my back of my neck was pressing against the sofa. They call it a brainstem stroke. Within 15 minutes I could not walk and my left side was paralyse. I had no pain, I could feel my skin on my left side, my speech was fine, I sound a bit different. If I want to say something I didn't know how to form my words. My face on my left side pull downwards when I cried . I was very emotional. I had no filter, if I want to say something I did, it felt like a monster in my chest that jumps out. I was rude and I got very angry. They gave me something for my anger and for the horrible thoughts I had, it was so realistic that I can feel it happening. I didn't recover 100%, I am walking with a limb and I can't run. With my hand I can't do things like typing or dainty stuff. The doctor diagnosed me wrongly, he thought I had a panic /stress attack. My daughter gave your book Insight in a stroke. I have listening to some of your talks and I want to ask you because the stroke didn't happened on my right or left side of my brain so these 2 sides were still communicating ? Thank you.
