i have been using this knot for a little while now and it has been suitable for all that i have caught on it (bass up to 7# and very large bowfin). i use it with 20# braid main, 15# flouro leader. so far it is the easiest i have found to tie. i like it.
What's the point when fishing any other type other than Surf casting? The leader knot doesn't have to pass through any of the rod guides unless you're casting out a big lead from the shore.
This knot holds the leader like the PR knot, it bites down like a Chinese finger knot on the leader. I would have finished it with a few half hitches after the leader knot , it might reduce wear on the knot from many runs back and forth between the guides.
Very similar to the Slim beauty, which i use, but this appears easier as there is no threading through the figure 8. The Question is - Is it just as strong?
I might suggest finishing this with a rizutto Then it would be nuts From physics standpoint this is a much better knot for thin diameter (less potential cutting) compared to FG which is more meant for heavier line

I've seen a couple different ways people have tied an FG and I'm with you still can't seem to get it down. I've been using an albrieight (I think it's called) and that works. This knot looks promising though.

I sometimes use a double uni or a twice thru uni but this looks worth trying, similar to my heavier shockleader knot (60lbs - 15lbs)with a blobbed end.
I never use a knot to pass inside the rings because with 300 casts per evening in a couple of evenings I would ruin the rings even if I make the best knot in the world
Sounds like you need better quality guides. I’m still throwing soft plastic lures (with the braid to leader knot passing through the guides every cast ) on the same rod I purchased 10 years ago and haven’t even replaced the tip runner yet.
Don’t worry - you won’t ruin quality guides by throwing slim knots through them. In a lot of types of fishing it’s totally obligatory to run knots through the guides and they don’t have problems. I would worry about about really cheap guides but I do it every day with alconite guides. There are certain rods where inserts fly out on the cast after a while but so far Ive only had this with the TICA HLHB.

If you really strongly pull the knot, the wraps hold the line strong enough that v. little force gets to the half hitch. I had some serious issues with Alberto when I used braid with diameter not that much smaller than the line just to test something.

Could i use a 0,72 mm with 0.25 mm main line and still being a "friendly knot" ?

I learned the Alberto knot is what I'm using now. 30lb briad to 15lb fluorocarbon leader

Overhand knot in the leader line makes it way bulkier than an FG knot. Stick to the FG for micro guides

A half hitch is a week spot, especially for fluorocarbon. Stick with standard Alberto, if the FG knot is to complicated for you.
That half hitch is just not micro guide friendly, and not necessary for an Alberto knot
