Brother, I love these videos so much. I don't do much DS1 PvP, but as the founder of the Demon's Souls Fight Club community (PC), your videos are so entertaining, because Demon's Souls PvP shares some stuff with DS1 PvP. I am personally really inspired from your videos since I also love DS1 PvP when I have the time to hop on, and use many techniques from your videos in my fight clubs, such as reverse rolls, raviolis and toggle escapes. I have personally seen a lot of people crap on DS1 PvP because of the backstabs, but I always think of these videos and even tell some of my friends It's actually fun to embrace the backstabs. @@MrMashroom oh, is the gameplay from your videos recorded on PS4? Damn, I thought you were playing on PC. The PvP in the remake is jankier than in the original, for some reason when you get backstabbed or thrown around you have no s during the recovery animation... so not the most fun. Also the remake just changed a lot of things from the original like the artstyle and whole vibe of the game. If you do ever get a PC let me know, emulating the original is super easy and runs perfectly.
This was a really great video showing off how backstabbing isn’t as problematic as a lot of people make it seem. the only complaint with the video I have is the no bs gameplay, Imo I think non bs focused duels are not as bad as they sound and are pretty fun. until you start poise stacking, poise really kills any chances of using anything off meta and bs fishing is the only option against poise other than weapon switching. An example is I love using hammers but they really suck vs more than like 55 poise, another thing that shuts down non bs game play imo is flip ring it way to good at every point of a fight it’s super had to punish with out spear or like cb also in the actually broken section I’d put spear flip in there they only way your winning is shield poking or twop from stone gs I hate it
I'm a pretty impatient player so I love how fast fights can go into one or another direction with crits like ripostes and backstabs 😅 that's why I complain about this fight, I'm sure it can be fun when both players have a fun setup and under the right circumstances!
Man this really brings back memories of my time on 360, wanted to relive those old glory days with the remastered but... It just wasn't the same with the weapon level matchmaking, password ganks and changes to soul level range matchmaking, not to mention some of the tech being unintentionally removed like dead-angling (which was just as important to the accidental formula of DS PVP as backstab techs were imo) and aside from shotgunning some twerps in the face with dark bead the magic just wasn't there.
I started with the og DS on PS3 but was a total noob and I just learned about all the tech later with the remastered so I can't judge that well but yeah dead angling would still be cool, just like no upper limit for SL when invading (at least in forest or something). FromSoft has proven with later installments that the magic DS1 PvP had was merely an accident for the most part.
