Owning a business is no joke, wishing your store success man. People should try to support their local game stores if possible

Man that was a nice chat - no need to apologize for this- it definitely opens up the eyes to how things are in a game store. And I appreciated you saying to not lowball customers and for a $1000 you need to give them like at least 600 or 700. That's doing the right thing.

Everyone thinks its sooooooo easy but nobody signs up for the struggle. Thank you for this RAW and unfiltered look at what it is really like. I've never seen your business before this video, but I will happily stop in and buy some stuff if I'm ever back in Houston.

Thanks for sharing! I totally understand the stress and the struggles! It’s absolutely not easy, but you’re doing what you love owning your own business. You are your own boss and call the shots. Keep it up, brother!

I will say some of the hardest things about owning a store like this, 1. All those gems you want to buy for your collection but need to resell! 2. Trade ins while great can't be your only transactions. ( I dealt with that owning a MTG store). Even with that said it's worth it to have something you love! Keep up the good work!

Love to see the trade ins bro. I used to work at a gamestore before and would see all type of trade ins too. Hope you keep at it. Things get really hard before a huge good surprise.

I Also own my own store in Cedar Rapids iowa it is hard and yeah wish somebody would of told me all those things to. I did take some classes but that wasn't until after even with them it's hard out there not everybody wants to buy you will get alot of I'm just looking or killing time until x and I completely understand what you were saying alot of good notes about it's not easy you get people that think it is or think we are rolling in money . small game stores unite is what I say by the way we are called turtle power games.

Love your video and how genuine you are, keep making videos man you'll get a lot more views if you talk about games and the positive sides of owning a store. Some video ideas / questions... How often do you get large or highly collectible trades? If the customer clearly doesn't know what they have, do you low ball them to make a large profit? Do you sell online or all in your store? Have you thought about diversifying into other collectibles like trading cards? Could you give us a breakdown of how much you typically earn a month? How much more business do you get near Christmas compared to other times of the year? What's the best trade-in you've had, or can remember? How often do you deal with theft or break ins (any stories?), How can you possibly afford to pay employees? Is it really possible to pay rent, utilities, taxes, yourself, and employees? Do you still find time to play and enjoy video games personally or has your fire died out a bit since opening a store? How often do you have to adjust prices? Is it hard to compete with online prices? Do you ever offer deals? (Example, someone asks for a discount on a group of games, or someone wants a bit more trade-in credit), Are you afraid of the future, considering everything is moving to digital only / subscriptions? Let me know if you ever open a store near Dallas 😀

You should change your business model. Shrink the size of your space and use your smaller physcal storefront to get inventory. Sell more games online. You could probably afford to pay 50% of pricecharting and sell for 80% of pricecharting and still do good while moving a lot of games.

1st time to the channel! Thanks for the honest perspective as a multiple video game store owner. Having owned multiple businesses, I've learned success in any business takes time, money, motivation, dedication and above all the will to succeed! Having multiple streams of income via selling on different platform (ebay, amazon, whatnot, fb marketplace, craigslist, etc) i believe is the key in order to stay in for the long term! Stay strong, positive and blessed bro!

I'm 1 year in up in DFW. People and trade expectations is something I didn't expect to have to educate folk on. Like you said, people see it on eBay and expect that. Most get it, but the ones that don't make the day a struggle, for real.

The cost of overhead on physical store ownership is outrageous in comparison to profit margins on video games, generally speaking. Unless of course you have a strong brand following on social media such as TH-cam, Instagram, TikTok, Whatnot, etc...

From an outside perspective: You rarely look happy or excited in the store. Im sure there are times where you are, but is just seems like you you go from store A to B, do some trade ins and thats it.

For those who have games or TCG stores, please answer this one: Why don't you limit the trade ins per game? My local second hand game store won't say no to the thousand Fifa game. Wouldn't be ok to say to the costumer "I'm sorry but we don't have interest in these games once we are overflowing. Hope you are able to sell them through other ways or you can always try again in X days"

I want to open my own store one day, however I feel like as a store owner everything in the store should be for sale. Even if you way OVERCHARGE I would sell anything in the store, should've told the lady you'd sell it to her for $50 if she really wants it, then you can buy a couple to replace it lol

Having a store front like real-estate make it 100 times harder to profit. You got Rent/Taxes/Utilities/Security/Insurance on top of razor thin margins. I can't see how it's profitable in 2024. Unless your foot traffic is jam packed and pull a gamestop where you give them 5 bucks for a game and resell it for 50.

Everyone who first own a store always think it’s “I’m about to be rich!” Until they own one. Me and the wife own a nail salon and it’s hard work. Just like a rollercoaster. Ups and downs. Struggles and cash flow.
