Thanks for the compliment! On the P220, another viewer noted the same thing. I didn't know that before, but now I do - I love all the feedback which expands my knowledge, thank you.
Thats interesting - I had a distant memory of hearing the same thing, but couldn't quite place it. I recall that it was something to do with the 10mm being so new that they had difficulty getting blanks for it....?
Thing about the 645? Mine fed everything. Utterly reliable. My nephew owns it now. Much to my regret. In good hands. Needed the money. Wife passed. RIP LISA MARIE. 😿
That scene in episode 1 when Crockett and Tubs are gearing up getting ready to throw down with "Air of Night" playing one of the best most intense mood setting scenes ever shot in TV history.
Crockett's guns were, 1. Sig Sauer P 220 2. Bren ten 3. SW 645 4. SW 4506 Huge fan of the show and weapons used. I own a 4506 from 1988. Love it. Beautiful model 645 Sir. Excellent video👍
I bought a 645 about 7-8 years ago. I just happen across it in a display case at a local gun store while a friend was getting some ammo. I just instantly recognized it and just knew I had to get it. I traded in my 5906 and paid about $500 for it and never regretted it. It's a freaking beast but I love it! I just took it out this last weekend with my brother in law, and just loved it. But yes, I bought it purely because I watched Miami Vice as a kid.
I have 2, one with fixed sights like Sonny's, and one with adjustable sights (something I didn't even know Smith and Wesson made until recently). I will probably send them both to my gunsmith next year for a complete cosmetic refurbishment. I also have in my collection a 4506 with fixed sights like Sonny carried in season 5, and another with adjustable sights. Also have four 4506-1s with adjustable sights. Love these S&W stainless tanks!
I absolutely love 645s. I shot my first one at prob 5-6 years old with some assistance from dad who still has that 645. As you mentioned the shine you can get from the slide is amazing.. go to work on it with simply mothers mag wheel polish and it will be a mirror
Fellow Brit here. I used to shoot a 1911 at an indoor range back in the eighties before Hungerford and Dunblane led to law changes that basically stopped Brits owning firearms. Really enjoyed this and some of your other videos, I’m still working through them. Just wondered how you started collecting guns? I presume it’s something you took up after moving to the USA, but wondered if you used to be a gun owner here in Britain and if so what your story was. Thanks for some fascinating informative videos and keep them coming 👍 🇬🇧🇺🇸
I was always familiar with firearms because I used to shoot clay pigeons and hunt vermin on a farm when I was growing up in the UK, but I started collecting guns after I moved to the USA and got my Green Card. There wasn't a conscious moment to begin collecting guns - I purchased my first firearms as a hobby to begin shooting targets and at the same time started a nostalgic review of all the TV shows and movies I loved growing up that made me want to move to the USA from a young age. Once I realized that I could buy the old guns that my hero's used, I was off to the races.
Something interesting about the 645, it will actually feed empty brass. If it was resized or fire formed by that specific barrel, it will strip them right off the magazine and hand cycle without issues. I've had three over the years and still have one. Great hardware there :)
Gorgeous gun!! S&W will admit they just don’t make them like this anymore. Seems like guns in the 80’s were pieces of art for S&W. These days the machines do most of the work. Unfortunately a lot of things are not made like they used to be. Great video love Miami Vice.
I recall reading about the origins of why the 645 was chosen to replace the Bren Ten in an issue of Guns & Ammo back in the late 90s. They were reviewing a S&W pistol, and the reviewer happened to be the armourer on Miami Vice. To underscore how reliable S&W pistols are, he recounted the story why he wanted to get rid of the Bren Ten as it was notoriously unreliable with blanks, so they wanted to replace it with something less troublesome. He took Don Johnson to the range with the then new 645 along with several other pistols to testfire. Don was immediately taken by the 645, so much so that he ended up purchasing custom engraved examples to gift to his close friends.
Same writer also recounted the same in a separate article in Shooting Times, exactly as you laid it out. Many forget that, at the time, Smith making a 45 auto (and stainless, at that) was as big as the whole Bren mystique.
Great show, great soundtrack, great gunplay. One of my favourite scenes is where Jim Zubiena playing an assassin does a super smooth and fast Mozambique from appendix carry. Definitely going to rewatch again now. Great vid, thanks
I was more than just a fan of Vice. I literally lived and breathed it from 1984-1990, from the fashion, cars, and guns and properties. And yes, I owned the 645 and the shoulder holster. I think I still have the the original box somewhere. Unfortunately, due to some legal circumstances, I had to sell it. The only thing I regret: not moving to Miami in the late 80s when SoBe and Collins Ave was on the cusp of a major change. But I was the big fish in the little pond in my city at the time. Seeing this brings back those memories and a bit of sadness I had to let the 645 go. But now, due to some recent case law that restores gun rights for non-violent ex-cons (yes, I'm a felon), I may get my 2nd amendment rights back to once again enjoy the glory of these stainless steel masterpieces.
The green Ferrari was black - specifically Tuxedo Black, according to Crockett. Apparently, the reason that he changed side arms was that Crockett always had to have the latest tech. The Bren 10 was brand new and he switched to the 645 when it first appeared and to the 4506 for the same reason. Quite how originally driving a 12 year old Dayona fits into that idea is a mystery. Brilliant video!
Yeah, I'm a 57 yr old Miami Vice fan boy, here. I'm a bit of a gun nerd, been a LEO FI since 1994 and a gun nut for 10 yrs before that, and I did 30+ years as a law enforcement officer, the last 12 as a plainclothes agent, so yes, I did cosplay Crockett at times (just a little bit here and there LOL!) albeit with a S&W 4506. Gotta make a slight correction, Crockett's Daytona was black, not green. As far as the pistols used by Sonny, I think I'm correct (but could easily be wrong) in saying I'm pretty darn sure this is the complete list of every handgun Sonny Crockett carried on the show: Sig Sauer P220 European heel release.45 ACP (S1E01 Pilot, some say it was a Browning Double Action BDA imported by Browning, as Sig did not have a domestic distributor set up yet) Detonics Pocket 9 9mm (S1E01 Pilot, in Crockett’s waistband) Dornaus & Dixon Bren Ten 10mm (S1 and S2) Detonics Combat Master .45 ACP (S1, S2 and S3, backup in an ankle holster) Smith & Wesson Model 645 .45 ACP (S3 and S4) Sig Sauer P220 reverse two-toned .45 ACP (S4 and S5 ‘Amnesia’ story arc) Smith & Wesson Model 4506 .45 ACP (Season 5) Smith & Wesson 6906 9mm (S5E04 "Bad Timing", backup in ankle holster) Smith & Wesson CS45 .45 ACP (S5E21 Finale “Freefall”, backup in ankle holster) Interesting Sidenote: In S3E14 “Cuba Libre”, Crockett takes a Glock 17 away from a Cuban rebel and uses it throughout the episode, which is I believe the very first time a Glock was ever shown prominently in any TV or film production. BTW, nice video, really liked it!
Thank you very much Sir for the compliment and all that knowledge. I'm just learning that the Ferrari is black, which is troubling - It looks dark green to me. I might be colorblind!
Please do a segment on the Colt Diamondback .38 Special revolver with the 2.5 inch barrel that was carried by "The King of Cool" Steve McQueen in the 1968 film Bullitt. I just recently acquired a copy of this gun after MANY decades of wanting one. Thank you! I enjoy your videos. Please keep them coming
Hi Randall - This firearm and movie is on my wish list. I'm looking for a Diamondback right now. I have a large list of guns that I am always monitoring the market for and generally I buy them according to when a great deal pops up. So it could be next week or next year by the time I find the 'one'.
The S&W 645 was the first pistol I bought when I turned 21 in 1991. I put it on layaway about a month and a half away from my birthday. The day I turned 21 and could legally purchase a pistol I went and made the last payment. I loved that pistol. Maybe because it was my first of many, but it shot great and gave me a couple of years of good service. I've always regretted letting it go but my young greed couldn't pass up the offer I got for it from a Miami Vice fanboy. He paid enough that I bought the newer 4506. Also a great gun, but you always have a soft spot for your first. I love your videos, I hope you keep making them for a long time.
@@keithgraham9547 My Dad gave me his Model 27 a few years ago. One of the most beautiful pistols I've ever seen and one that'll take a serious emergency to pry out of my hands. I've always been a fan of the 357 Magnum.
@@voodoowraith I hope you never have circumstances to ever part with it. Yes, there are a few handguns that are just beautiful. The 1950's to 1980's were the Golden Era for that, primarily revolvers by S&W and Colt. Today, we have another great era of FUNCTIONAL pistols, and rifles, but really they are just soulless hunks of plastic and metal. In the 1970-1980's, I had a gorgeous Browning Lever-action Rifle, and still regret I sold it. S&W have re-issued the classic Model 25 (45LC), Model 27, Model 57 (41 Magnum), and the Dirty Harry gun, the Model 29 44 Magnum. All are about $1,100 to $1,300. I'm thinking about buying all three for a complete set. Colt re-issued the "Snake"revolvers. They originally then, and now, cost more than the Smiths, are beautiful, but not as good quality. In my opinion, 357 Magnum and a modern 45LC rated for +p, are the most versatile guns of all. From low-recoil 38 or cowboy loads, you can shoot hard-cast 325 grain bear loads. There is inheirant value in beauty, as well as function.
@@keithgraham9547 I couldn't agree more. I carry a Glock 21 and a Glock 17 these days because they won me over back in the 90's. While I do find a certain beauty in their industrial, stark, styling, they don't stir the soul like a polished blue revolver. Like say, a 2 inch S&W Model 19 with rounded grips or our Model 27s. Those Browning lever actions have been on my wishlist for some time now.
@@voodoowraith Yes, many companies made beautiful rifles and shotguns. Today, the occasional Browning, a Beretta shotgun, and a few others are all you find. Henry has continued the tradition. I was always a Smith guy until I bought a Shield 45. Very hard to rack. Had two catastrophic failures. I ate the loss and traded it on a Glock 30SF. The Glocks have a certain industrial competence look. But practicality alone of the vast array of handguns doesn't replace the aesthetic of a Venus di Milo.
I have a 645 that I inherited in almost perfect shape it was unfired until I got it. Couldn’t help myself, and Miami Vice has come to be my favorite tv show. Even though I’m a 2000s kid not a 80s-90s.
You should do Crockett's back-up guns. I know one was a Detonics Combat Master. My dad had a very early one that is now in my gun safe. Fun to shoot too! BTW, I subscribed to the channel. In the 90's I worked with one of the best Foley teams in the industry. Part of my job was finding props and I LOVED selecting prop guns for their sounds. I hope you feature some of the films and guns that I worked on so that I can provide some background on the SFX!
Detective, I also carried an S&W 645 years ago as my duty weapon in Texas. I later started carrying a 1911, just felt better in my hand. Thank you for your service.
@@duganbroomfield9640 thank you...and I want to say Texas is one of the best places on earth. I've been there a few times and was always treated as a brother
The 645 was, and is a decent piece of gear. I carried one on duty in uniform, and when my department mandated 9MM for duty carry, it became my off-duty carry gun. That was during the Miami Vice era and I caught the occasional Sonny Crockett joke but I didn't care. I still have one, although I never saw the need for the Jackass/Galco shoulder rig; I carried mine IWB as an off-duty gun. For a full size .45 ACP service pistol, it's slim and carries relatively easily despite its weight. The one downside is the propensity of the right side safety/decocker lever screw to loosen. Blue Loctite and sometimes a bit of judicious deformation of the screw threads would keep the screw in place without the need for heat to remove it if required for repair. I'll admit to having a few 2nd and 3rd Generation S&W pistols, as much for nostalgic reasons as for the fact that they are rugged, reliable and reasonably accurate firearms.
Thanks for your comment - It was especially warmly received when I saw your user name! LOL. Glad you liked the video Sir. You dont sound like a Grumpyoldretiredcop!
I own the very similar Smith and Wesson Model 1006 10mm pistol. I have fired perhaps 50 rounds through it and it has been in the safe ever since. As I recall, I shot very well with it.
I still have a copy of Soldier of Fortune magazine with the ridiculous comment that the switch to the 645 was because the D&D bankruptcy "would leave Crockett with a gun no cop in America carried". As you rightly pointed out in your Beverlly Hills Cop video; for an undercover that would be a GOOD thing.
I've always felt S&W automatics are underrated & underappreciated pistols. I picked up a near mint 39-2 about 3 months ago & have my eyes on several other older S&Ws, and this model is one of them. They're just works of art.
Thanks John - Its brand new - Not even a month at this point. I'll keep working hard and I think it will continue to grow. People's positive comments are continuing to motivate me to work this second job, for no pay every night! (haha)
One thing the S&W 645 did for law enforcement was it let officers who either weren't comfortable with cocked-and-locked 1911s or had dept regulations against such, finally carry a .45 on duty. Three officers I worked with, one a dear (and now sadly late) friend, each bought one when they first came out. As for the model 39, I always thought it was one of the most beautiful DA/SA service pistols. My old dept had one in inventory (we had to supply our own guns most of my career but the department had a few condemned guns in inventory for issue). I used it for off-duty and when we were doing water patrol on wave runners (tough job, LOL), figuring if something went wrong, better to lose THEIR gun than MY Browning or SIG. ;) That was one of the guns I hated turning back in shortly before retiring. Great pistol, very comfortable, easy to shoot well, and accurate.
When our old Chief retired in the mid 80's, we were allowed autos for the first time. As the chief firearms instructor I wrote our SOP on handguns. We allowed 45's and 9's as well as 38 revolvers. Many of our officers chose the S&W 645. I personally carried a Sig P228. I have owned many third gen Smiths in 45. My fav was the TSW 4566.
The story with the car was Enzo Ferrari did not like the fact they were kit cars and said if you destroy it on camera and I will provide your show with a real car. The white testarossa. Fun fact the other kit car Daytona was used in the John candy movie speed zone the third installment of the cannon ball run series of movies. Love the channel! Keep it up bud!
Yes Sir! Model 659 was used by all of the characters in reservoir dogs. I’m holding that one back for a few episodes as it’s so similar looks wise to the 645 - but it’s coming soon!!!
@@hollywoodguns so I was a cop from 1980 to 1992 in L. A. Had some good times in the early days. My Mum was English a brumi what brought you here to the states and keep up the great work.
That 39 is beautiful! My old man has one from 50 something I believe no dash “obv” it’s been a while since I looked.. never fired absolutely new, no factory box unfortunately but I’m just grateful he got it. Cant wait to see that review, first real pistol I shot as a kid right there.
The story about frustration from the competitive team is real. S&W ended up making a "supergun" for their top ISPC shooter by hand. His name was Tom Campbell and he had actually worked for S&W in the factory since his teens, the gun they put together for him to stop him shooting Colts would end up being the basis of the 4506-1.
Love to see a video on your Model 39. I'm also a S&W collector. I do not have one yet - I had a chance to bid on an Illinois State Police issued model 39 but didn't win. ISP became the first state police to adopt an auto loader in 1967 - I'm enjoying your collection. Thanks for opening up the safe for us.
Thanks! I thinking of doing a deep dive into Starsky and Hutch with the Model 59 and spending a while on the 39. I dont think there was a pivotal movie, TV show or scene that the 39 featured in that could warrant its own episode. What do you think?
@ it was featured in the A-Team, Casino - and in all things Aliens with Pearl grips! I think it would be interesting to have a video on the 39/59 with a theme being something like, “look the 39/59 wasn’t featured prominently in movies but it was used in these”. With some screen grabs etc. IMO they’re beautiful, historically important firearms in American history that the average middle class American can start his collection off with.
Amazing videos, just came across them and watched them all. Love the content and brings back many great memories. Been a fellow Brit it's good to see too. Keep up the great work
I just got in firearms a year ago. I didn't own any having children in the house. Now I'm starting a collection and your channel is exactly what the gun community needs. Maybe mention in your videos the practicality of if you can buy these guns in there filming locations currently.
@@hollywoodguns Thanks. I love the channel, keep up the good work. Being a new firearms collector it's been hard to own some of the classics due to (Lets face it the majority of gun movies are in the USA and mostly Los Angeles present gun laws) due to mag limit restrictions, threaded barrel, importing, stocks (Shotguns and Assault Rifles)
I was in Chicago a few years ago working on a murder case when I was working for the Denton County District Attorneys Office. I met several detectives, and they took real good care of us. Our defendant was associated with the Gangster Disciples.
I have a 4506 with 2 original magazines, if you find yourself in the position to buy one or it's brother the 645, DO NOT use aftermarket mags. I haven't found even one that works correctly. Basically, you now now a Raven .25 auto but chambered in .45 ACP for all the FTF's they cause.
I'm glad someone mentioned the "green Ferrari" was actually "black". The show blew it up because Ferrari raised hell due to the Daytona of the series was an unlicensed copy of that car . The series blew it up to send it off with a bang giving the powers that be the excuse to bring in an actual Ferrari that satisfied Ferrari management.
I saw an article where a collector had one of the fake Daytona cars, apparently the show runners pulled a fast one on Ferrari and blew up a stunt copy and not the ‘Hero car’. They also had a stunt Testerossa based on a De Tomaso Pantera. Once you see it in the show you can’t Unsee it, mainly round the rear wheels and arches.
Those old Smith & Wesson pistols were very good-looking handguns. The model 39 was actually used by the U.S. Navy SEALs in Vietnam. And it was in the movie Aliens as the sidearm of Vasquez even though the rest of the Colonial Marines used the H&K VP70.
The 645 was my first i bought when I turned 21 in 2011. I found it by chance at a gun show and knew nothing about its history or Miami Vice. I just loved the look and caliber and have always loved smith autos from alot of movies. I love it. I still own it and plan on always retaining it. A truly great and well-built pistol. I have noticed that the price of them at gunshows has gone up over the years.
Great show, great hand gun, and great video!!! I had a 645, but sold it to a buddy... However, U mention a Smith model 52, I did not sell that one...!!! I believe it has the best hammer and trigger combo of them all...!!! Ur video has inspired me to start saving my money, and buying another 645...!!!!! Thank U.
Thankyou, fun trip down memory lane and hello from Australia. love shooting my 645 at the range and always have folks asking what she is. Its not plastic haha.
So the Model 39, first thing that comes to mind is ALIENS! It was the pistol that Vazquez carried. That movie also made me want a H&K VP70, even though I know it has an infamously atrocious trigger.
Beautiful s&w 645 indeed it is iconic. Really look forward to your uploads. Very well presented fascinating information. I would guess the model 39 must have featured in the A team. Maybe magnum pi.could possibly of featured in the 80s series hunter. Although he did not carry a model 39. you must do a feature on the uber iconic uzi SMG. Best regards my friend
Paul, your comment means the world to me - thank you. I’ve been pouring my heart and soul into this project for months to produce the videos I wanted to watch, that I couldn’t find anywhere else! I’m glad you and other people out there are enjoying them too. Quick question as I’m working on the next three videos - what do you think the order should be next: Browning hi power, (Beverly Hills cop) ruger mini 14 factory folder (A team) Ruger KP90 (Desperado)?
Hey your very welcome my friend. I appreciate your time and work on your channel. You have my support 100%. must do the Browning high power. Yes the gun of axel foley. And the side arm of the SAS operation nimrod. The Iranian embassy siege. Have a wonderful weekend and best wishes
Somewhere I thought he went to the Smith 1006. Staying with the 10mm round. Bren Ten was also made in 45acp. Saw them both at a local gun show as a combo set. Also thought there was a special forces or Marines model.
I rewatched Miami Vice in full about 10 years ago and I must give it another go in 2025. It's funny you mention they retooled for season 3 a little as I tell everyone that Season 3 of Miami Vice is some of the best cop show you'll ever watch.
I grew up in the 80’s. Friday nights would come and most teen boys would go out but my friends piled over to my house to watch Miami Vice. Even our girlfriends got into it and it became a party night after the show.
I noticed you put a set of Pachmayr grips on yours as compared to Crockett’s having factory grips. Those Pachmayrs are quite nice. Beautiful gun you have.
Thanks - It actually came to me with those grips instead of the OEM ones. I really like Pachmayr's and have them on a lot of pistols now. They made great grips (for my hands at least)
Technical note. .45's are easier to throat the barrel for blanks and make a more "cinematic" muzzle flash. Same reason Jim Cameron used M1 Thompsons as the base for the Pulse rifles in Aliens. The original plan was to use H&K MP-5's but the muzzle flash didn't show up very well on film.
I prefered the 945 over the bren 10. I passed on buying a bren 10 in late 90s. 2 grand was too pricey. Dam wish i woulda got a small loan and bought it. O well.
the real reason why Crockett carried a 645 was because the company that created the Bren Ten went out of business so the producers went to Smith and Wesson
Sure, but the 645 was state of the art for the late 80s, it was a DA .45 ACP with hi vis sights, a checkered grip and 8 round magazines when all people had was a 1911 with many many $$$ in custom work to make it a gunfighter pistol
@@daleswalley7226 Thanks, I looked it up and it appears it was a 1076, but because they didnt have access to those they used a real 4506 in it place. It might be enough to warrant a video -My 1076 is an original FBI issued weapon with holster and mag pouches, plus I have a S&W historical letter discussing its provenance. monitor ebay - They come up all the time and often you can pick up a vintage one for under a $100. I think I paid $80 for mine a little while back.....
@@richvalenzi6232 actually now you mention it, no mine is a 1911 and the 645 doesn't quite fit. You can jam it in and close the clasp, but if you had to pull it out in an emergency, it might not come out quickly. However, seeing as I dont carry this rig / or holster method, that doesn't matter to me. It has the cool factor in my head when I'm larping in my man cave and that's enough to make me happy!
The pistol that Crockett used, during the first season, was a Bren 10. It was replaced for the following seasons because the original Bren 10 was stolen. It was too expensive to replace with another Bren 10 since the company went out of business.

Thanks for some fascinating informative videos and keep them coming 👍
🇬🇧🇺🇸
I was always familiar with firearms because I used to shoot clay pigeons and hunt vermin on a farm when I was growing up in the UK, but I started collecting guns after I moved to the USA and got my Green Card. There wasn't a conscious moment to begin collecting guns - I purchased my first firearms as a hobby to begin shooting targets and at the same time started a nostalgic review of all the TV shows and movies I loved growing up that made me want to move to the USA from a young age. Once I realized that I could buy the old guns that my hero's used, I was off to the races.
All steel handguns are just fantastic!
Something interesting about the 645, it will actually feed empty brass. If it was resized or fire formed by that specific barrel, it will strip them right off the magazine and hand cycle without issues. I've had three over the years and still have one. Great hardware there :)
MV really was a game changer in series production. You have a very nice model in your collection.
Gorgeous gun!!
S&W will admit they just don’t make them like this anymore.
Seems like guns in the 80’s were pieces of art for S&W. These days the machines do most of the work.
Unfortunately a lot of things are not made like they used to be. Great video love Miami Vice.
Thanks Phantom!
That episode is awesome and will be in a future video if i find a Bren Ten.
Am I mistaken but is that that a cut down mini 14 he uses at Crocketts house at the end ?.....the flash in the dark is incredible
Thanks for sharing the story mate! All the best!
As far as the pistols used by Sonny, I think I'm correct (but could easily be wrong) in saying I'm pretty darn sure this is the complete list of every handgun Sonny Crockett carried on the show:
Sig Sauer P220 European heel release.45 ACP (S1E01 Pilot, some say it was a Browning Double Action BDA imported by Browning, as Sig did not have a domestic distributor set up yet)
Detonics Pocket 9 9mm (S1E01 Pilot, in Crockett’s waistband)
Dornaus & Dixon Bren Ten 10mm (S1 and S2)
Detonics Combat Master .45 ACP (S1, S2 and S3, backup in an ankle holster)
Smith & Wesson Model 645 .45 ACP (S3 and S4)
Sig Sauer P220 reverse two-toned .45 ACP (S4 and S5 ‘Amnesia’ story arc)
Smith & Wesson Model 4506 .45 ACP (Season 5)
Smith & Wesson 6906 9mm (S5E04 "Bad Timing", backup in ankle holster)
Smith & Wesson CS45 .45 ACP (S5E21 Finale “Freefall”, backup in ankle holster)
Interesting Sidenote: In S3E14 “Cuba Libre”, Crockett takes a Glock 17 away from a Cuban rebel and uses it throughout the episode, which is I believe the very first time a Glock was ever shown prominently in any TV or film production.
BTW, nice video, really liked it!
Thank you very much Sir for the compliment and all that knowledge. I'm just learning that the Ferrari is black, which is troubling - It looks dark green to me. I might be colorblind!
@@hollywoodguns No sweat, it could be the video transfer. Keep up the good work!

I also always knew the car to be black.
Still have my first handgun 52 years later, an S&W Model 27 with a 6.5" barrel. Really a piece of art that polymer guns can't replicate.
I am dripping with envy, I love Miami Vice and always had an eye for the 645 but never got around to going through the used gun market to get one.
You still can! Git R Dun.
Carried a 645 for 20 of my 27 years as a detective for Chicago pd
That's awesome. Who else can say they carried the same gun for 20 years?!
Hi still have my 645. It was my first handgun that I purchased at 21.
I own the very similar Smith and Wesson Model 1006 10mm pistol. I have fired perhaps 50 rounds through it and it has been in the safe ever since. As I recall, I shot very well with it.
Very nice tribute. I bought 2 of the 645's back in the 80's. I sure wish I would have kept one of them. Beautiful gun.
And the Bren 10 had trouble with their magazines.
I've always felt S&W automatics are underrated & underappreciated pistols. I picked up a near mint 39-2 about 3 months ago & have my eyes on several other older S&Ws, and this model is one of them. They're just works of art.
😎The baddest and toughest Cops on T.V. ever!
Under-rated channel.
Thank you Sir! I'm with you that the Model 39 is absolutely gorgeous.
Great show with classic cars and good music, and the clothesline set trends for years on end!
I love the Galco Miami Classic shoulder holser. I own 2 of them, and i sometimes use them while working because i do Armed Executive Protection.
nice!
Thanks for this extra info!
Finally, we get the 645. You could spend a whole video on the second generation S&W 9mm's in Resovior Dogs.
Yes Sir! Model 659 was used by all of the characters in reservoir dogs. I’m holding that one back for a few episodes as it’s so similar looks wise to the 645 - but it’s coming soon!!!

Vic Mackey's 4506 would be a good video to do!
I have a 4506 and love it

Thanks mate. Appreciate the suggestion on being able to buy them 'on location'. I'll see if i can add that to future videos.
@@hollywoodguns Thanks. I love the channel, keep up the good work. I need to buy one of these
I have a 4506 with 2 original magazines, if you find yourself in the position to buy one or it's brother the 645, DO NOT use aftermarket mags.
Beat me to it.
I actually preferred the earlier black "Ferrari".
Damn shame! I really liked that car.
Y'all should check out the recent Ferrari. The 12Cilindri is beautiful and identical to the 365 Daytona
Always loved that they gave Crockett the Dirty Harry .44 Magnum gunshot sound so you could tell when he fired
If I remember correctly, the Model 39 was used by Hannibal Smith in the A-Team series.
Ding, Ding, Winner!

Those old Smith & Wesson pistols were very good-looking handguns. The model 39 was actually used by the U.S. Navy SEALs in Vietnam. And it was in the movie Aliens as the sidearm of Vasquez even though the rest of the Colonial Marines used the H&K VP70.

So the Model 39, first thing that comes to mind is ALIENS! It was the pistol that Vazquez carried. That movie also made me want a H&K VP70, even though I know it has an infamously atrocious trigger.
I'm a huge fan of the S&W 1st, 2nd and 3rd generation autos, especially the 645, 745 and 4506.

"party night"..... Good times!
Buen video 😃
I prefered the 945 over the bren 10. I passed on buying a bren 10 in late 90s. 2 grand was too pricey. Dam wish i woulda got a small loan and bought it. O well.
so glad i got mine in the 90s hard to find now price keeps going up !!!
the real reason why Crockett carried a 645 was because the company that created the Bren Ten went out of business so the producers went to Smith and Wesson
Sure, but the 645 was state of the art for the late 80s, it was a DA .45 ACP with hi vis sights, a checkered grip and 8 round magazines when all people had was a 1911 with many many $$$ in custom work to make it a gunfighter pistol
There was a HK p7 nickel finish in 45 that was made for the show but never used it sits in the HK gray room
The only smith i have so far is a 4006, can't wait for the video on the 3rd gens.
4506 is coming soon. I also have a FBI issued 1076, but I'm struggling to find a movie it was in.....!

Right on
The Bren 10 packed a whole lot more power. But that 45 is a beautiful peice
The Bren Ten used on the show was chambered in .45 ACP because there were blanks available in that caliber.

@@richvalenzi6232 actually now you mention it, no mine is a 1911 and the 645 doesn't quite fit. The pistol that Crockett used, during the first season, was a Bren 10. It was replaced for the following seasons because the original Bren 10 was stolen. It was too expensive to replace with another Bren 10 since the company went out of business.
H.G. Would like to see Nash Bridges two-tone Nighthawk 1911 featured. That was another iconic Don Johnson pistol.
I added it to the list. Thanks!
I LOVE THIS CHANNEL...AWESOME🔥
Sham-Ford Magazine well!! I LOVE IT!!!! Not meaning to be priggish, but when one spends his days surrounded by my New Jersey brethren, the diction of your voiceover is quite refreshing. - cheers
Thanks for the comment - Its all about perspective though. I like the Jersey accent (or close - Brooklyn). I'm thinking Marisa Tomei in "My cousin Vinnny".
@@hollywoodguns think thats more about Marissa and less the accent LOL she's not too tough on the eyes
@@miketaylorID1 I dunno - Its the accent: "Imagine you're a deer. You're prancing along, you get thirsty, you spot a little brook, you put your little deer lips down to the cool clear water... BAM! A f-in bullet rips off part of your head! Your brains are laying on the ground in little bloody pieces!"
@@hollywoodguns that’s flippin funny!! Bravo!!👏🏼
Great video!
