    SOLO PLAYTHROUGHS' MERCHANDISE: www.teespring.com/stores/solo...
    In this episode of Solo Playthroughs, Greg features Stanza from Too Many Bones: Undertow in a playthrough against the Octopus Tyrant, Barnacle! A standalone expansion, Undertow introduces to the world of Daelore new baddie types (Mechs and Krellin) and a Raft Battle Mat, as now the Gearlocs often find themselves in the midst of conflicts occurring on Daelore's Sibron River. Stanza presents the player with a whole new way of playing the game, as this Gearloc uses much of her Dex to play powerful songs on her Luitar with a wide variety of game effects, all of which require Focus to keep them playing as Stanza does everything she can to defeat the Baddies while having to stay alive as well. And staying alive will be no small task with Barnacle residing in these waters, with his eight Tentacles at the ready to do damage to both Gearloc and Raft alike. It's a battle of the many-armed vs. the musically talented - which will emerge victorious?!

    Happy to finish up my first rotation of the 6 gearlocs I own, and really love me some Stanza! I'm planning get a two-handed playthrough on the channel in a few weeks with both the Undertow gearlocs, so be on the lookout for that. :) Happy Gaming! Greg

    Nice gameplay. I was just messing with Stanza the other day. I was looking for some example gameplay to verify I was playing her correctly. Your video came up just in time. Thanks.

      Thanks for the comment, Kurt! Stanza’s so cool but definitely takes some getting used to. Glad this video was able to confirm some things for you! 🙂

    Nice finish after a rough few losses. When you try the two-handed play you'll notice that the loses with an increasing BQ make the Tyrant encounter much harder where true solo it doesn't change the encounter (other than missed training/loot). Stanza is tough true solo, a lot of her skills work well with the party where she doesn't have to do damage but can help with control. It was interesting seeing you go so high on dex but I can see in true solo moving around the mat is a lot more viable. Looking forward to seeing you try two-handed and see what you think, once i tried that I didn't go back!

      Thanks for this great comment! And yeah - I’m looking forward to trying two, esp with the changes it will make for the tyrant encounters. 🙂

    Well done! Stanza does have some great skills and you showed her off well. Getting a tyrant encounter Day 3 (or Day 4) is the worst. I can count on one hand the number of times I have won that encounter! Look forward to you playing Ghillie (my absolute favorite) and Nugget. These are Gearlocs built for solo play!

      Thanks, Bryan! Stanza requires an approach to the game that I find really refreshing. And it’s gonna be nice to have some new long-eared friends to throw in the mix before too long! 🙂

    Hi Greg!
    At 58:16, why didn't the Dragon Breechers throw its 3 Atk dice against Stanza (he is ranged)?

    • @SoloPlaythroughs

      Wow - great catch, Jean. Apparently, I have an unfortunate tendency to forget that Ranged Baddies are Ranged about once a game! Always good to be more aware of mistakes like this so hopefully I make less of them in the future. :)

    are you going to be uploading better video quality with the new camera?

    • @SoloPlaythroughs
      @SoloPlaythroughs  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good question, Aman. At this point, while I think I can find ways to make incremental improvements, I’m close to maxed out on improving video quality with my current set up. That said, if you go back to my Boomer and Picket videos, the difference in quality is pretty stark. Still, to get to a purer 4K video, I’d be looking at a financial investment and a revamping of my process that is a bit more than I’m willing to take on at this point. 🙂

    New TMB content on Gamefound. Unbreakable, Rage of Tyranny, 40 Waves. As far as I can tell its either 3 or 5 new gears.
    New battlemat looks really good.

    Hi Greg. Why dont you move a baddie in your direction, when it has no att dice. I did not find anything in the rules, that baddies without att dice dont move.

    • @SoloPlaythroughs
      @SoloPlaythroughs  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Thomas! (EDIT: I misread the question and answered why “did” I move a baddie w/o attack dice. See below for more discussion about the actual question!) This is generally correct. I think the one time you’re referring to is when I took a turn for the baddie without attack dice. At this point, I’m controlling what the baddie does and, like all non-krellin baddies, this baddie can move two spaces by default. But, yes, on a baddie’s own turn, they won’t move if they don’t have a target and, generally, a baddie without attack dice will never have a target. With me controlling the movement, the lack of a target is irrelevant to the baddie’s actions - similar to how you can still use Dex to move a gearloc even if you had previously exhausted all your attack dice stat by applying attack dice to a baddie with Break. Of course, if you’re referencing a different time than when I took a turn for the baddie, then I just messed up! 🙂

      @@SoloPlaythroughs Hey Greg. I disagree. In the movement section for baddies it is mentioned, that they will always target and move towards the closest unit (melee baddies). It is not mentioned that baddies without attack dice dont target an opposing unit.

      My bad - I misread the question! (I thought you ask why “did” I move a baddie w/o attack dice.) You raise an interesting point and I’m really not sure now. If the baddie always moves toward its target, can it have a target if it’s not targeting with anything? I don’t think it can but hopefully someone else can say for sure.

      Been looking for an official answer on this and haven’t found one yet. But, even though it feels counterintuitive to me, I’m now inclined to think you’re right in saying that the melee baddies always move even if they are not attacking. (I guess it would like how the monsters in Gloomhaven move as if its a melee attack even if they are disarmed.) Thanks again for pointing this out!

      @@SoloPlaythroughs I think the rules are very clear on this. In Undertow rulebook, page 22, section Baddie Movement and Targeting, it is mentioned: "Melee baddies may move up to 2 adjacent available positions per turn. They will always target and move toward the closest opposing unit. ..." I think there is no room for interpretation.

    Taking a turn for a baddie, don't you do it at the end of your turn?

    • @SoloPlaythroughs

      Hey, Adam. No. You do it when you advance the song.

    • @SoloPlaythroughs

      Great question, Jean! Normally, no. However, the loot "Gearloc's Guide to Advanced Tactics" allowed me to train the Breaking of Daelore even though I didn't have The River Deep. It's a really great loot!
