    I have the Service Special on my side as I type this. Comes with two 8 round magazines. Has those same sights. Has the flat main spring housing. Ordered the arched housing to replace that with. Got mine for 3.6 enchiladas. Compares very favorable to a Springfield I have had since the mid 1990's. Mine only came with the plastic grips so I bought wooden double diamond ones through Amazon.

    Interesting fact:
    John Browning patented the 1911 on Valentines Day in 1911.
    Happy Valentines Day, baby. I bought you a 1911.
    Oops, I bought one for myself as well!
    If you don't like yours , I'll be happy to keep it myself.
    Great video, Rob, as usual . Thank you.
    Please keep up the great 👍 work!

    I bought the Tisas 1911A1 U S Army WG .45ACP in January. I have say the fit and finish are impressive. I shoots VERY well. I bought it as a companion piece to my CMP acquired service grade 1943 Remington Rand M1911A1. That also shoots very well.

    Glad to see a barrel bushing on this. Most 1911’s in 9mm do not have a barrel bushing and are a pain to take down.

    Congrats I have a few both in 45 and 9mm. The 9mm is a pure pleasure too shoot. The 45 not so much! Let folks know that Tisas sells the walnut woods grips for a very reasonable price. Also, I bought a Tisas full size 1911 and put my Colt 1911 22 unit on it. Runs great.

    • @HamiltonOutdoors
      @HamiltonOutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for watching Bruce I appreciate it. I have a Kimber in 9 mm and it's just a gem to shoot. That's why I picked up this tank commander in 9 mm. They're just so much fun to shoot.

    • @chrisblake1918
      @chrisblake1918 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, the 9mm is easier to use, but it's heresy!!!! Just kidding, the 1911 is God's gift to man through His prophet John MOSES Browning.

    Very nice! Bet that will be a fun one and good trade out i think! you can probably get an extended beaver tail for that pretty cheap if it is still biting your hand, already has the right hammer it appears! Look forward to the demo! I like it! Have a good one!

    • @HamiltonOutdoors
      @HamiltonOutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      This is an upgrade from the tanker, I think you can still buy them but I heard they were discontinuing them. Personally I like this one better than the tanker. They had it in 45 ACP as well. It was $10 higher. But I wanted the nine

    • @bruceesterline3170

      @Hamilton outdoors the one I was looking at was a Tanker commander in 45acp and. 9mm I'm now leaning towards the 9mm I found all still available at budsguns online the Commander is at 400.00 not bad

  • @3jeepdiscovery
    @3jeepdiscovery ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I didn’t know these came in 9mm. That makes it even more tempting since I wasn’t sure about adding 45 to my already lacking ammo list.

    I have this gun. It jams all the time. When it doesn’t jam it shoots very accurately. Good fit and finish. However I hate all that jamming.

    • @JimFrye-ub3kq

      Is it jamming on hollow points? I feed a steady diet of ball fmj to mine and it's been perfect.

    What is the color actually listed on this one as?

    • @HamiltonOutdoors
      @HamiltonOutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's a cerecoat, to resemble parkerized finish it is greyish

  • @thomasj1183
    @thomasj1183 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Is the cerakote grey? Or greenish? With the 4.25” tank commander it seems to look different on different videos and it’s hard to tell.

    • @HamiltonOutdoors
      @HamiltonOutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว

      It kind of has a greenish tint to it it's made to look like a old green oxide finish. Like the military used to use

    • @thomasj1183
      @thomasj1183 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep I just picked up mine today and it’s more gray than green. I was a little disappointed. I have the 5” 1911 in .45 and 9mm and both are definitely more green-grey than this. Still a beautify gun though. This is my fourth and hopefully last. 1911s are my Kryptonite.

    • @HamiltonOutdoors
      @HamiltonOutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@thomasj1183 I think it's the light you have it in sometimes mine looks more gray and others more green.

    does anyone know when Tisas started coating these guns with manganese phosphate instead of cerakote ?

    • @HamiltonOutdoors
      @HamiltonOutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว

      From my understanding it is a cerakote that is colored to emulate a phosphate finish
