    Those aerial shots of the fields as the wagons and chopper did their job were great - the symmetry and order of the contours and the raked material...just called to an aesthetic that I like.

    The amount of knowledge, skill, mechanical aptitude, and lots more to run a modern dairy farm is unbelievable. Maybe Eric’s best comment so far “Dad has pretty good form with the shovel !!

      Harvestore silos are always fun to fill don't have to pull Silo unloaders up just open the top and start to fill and if you put too much in the roof gets full and you have to put that in there too

    I always love the view from the silo! And the drone is cool too - partially for the same reason - the view - but I also never tired of how synchronized they are bringing the grain in. I know they simply go the same speed but the smoothness of the two machines working together - there's something weirdly calming and beautiful about it. Teamwork!

    That’s a great rake. Done many hours of rowing up here in the UK with the same one however I’m very jealous of the fact that you can move between fields just by lifting the arms up. Where I was working you had to take 4 arms off each rake and fold down part of the frame to make it low enough to get down the roads under trees. Was such a pain but I still enjoy that job almost as much as tedding

  • @samspade4634
    @samspade4634 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Putting hay up is a little tricky if it's too wet it will spoil, too dry and it gums up the equipment so you have to be on the ball. Oh yeah, don't let it get rained on or it's not worth chopping. Eric, you and Dad make dairy farming look easy, people should know that it is long hours with constant decision making. Oh you get no days off... I love your videos.

    What an awesome view from the top of the silos. Will you do any more planting or just let the fields go to grass? Your growing season begins earlier than it does here in Northern Vermont. It's either colder or wetter here. We are entering our cooler season, Temps this week only in high 60s and mid 70s, has been raining a lot more.
    Like your videos, informative and shows how much you care about the farm and animals.

    Hey Eric, good to see you got 3rd cut in, we're between 2nd and 3rd cut up here in Ontario. Just a tip with that rotary rake, don't run it much over 1600 rpm especially in alfalfa or the leaves will be gone. Basically, the wetter the crop is, the higher the rpms, the dryer it is, the lower. Also, have you guys ever considered doing hay in a day? i.e., cut early morning and chop late afternoon on the same day. The feed quality is better if it is done in one day. Thanks for posting, keep up the good work!

    The dance of the machines... it's always riveting to watch especially from a
    height.
    It always hard when a brand spanking new piece of concrete with those amazing straight grooves etched in gets dirty..... makes me wanna rush out with the hose and wash it clean. Just food for thought wetting down the concrete before scraping would make it glide over more cleanly
