Does not work like that, a cave system would fill up like a bath with water table rising, there is no stream as such more like a pool or underground reservoir.
Why need so many divers tho?

Not only the divers face the challenges, so do the boys, and with little to no swimming experience. So far it doesn't sound like any panic on the way out. Show a great deal of courage and discipline on their part.

JahsRulz also their diagram makes me wonder why the rescuers could not dig that little bit of distance on the left hand side. Clearly reality is not as simple as shown
IndiasTop10 No, the shelf they're on is hundred of metres underground. They can't find any way through (been using local guides, bird nest gathers, and Thai military) and there's little prospect of drilling due to access and accuracy issues.
The least worse option is what they are trying. Highly risky still, but it's working, thank goodness.
How I wish this was just a movie. Where are Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Spider Man hahaha : ). Congratulations to all the real heros of this world for the work you are doing!

This operational is crazy. This is definetely miracle by God.
Everyone in that town talks really good about the coach, it was an accident, could of happen to anyone, it is a tourist place. Like other's have said blame it on global warming that is making the weather so unpredictable it was sunny the day they entered.

God didn’t do jack shit in this situation. This is a miracle done by the volunteers and rescuers.
God alone will never be able to bring them out of the cave
Perhaps none who are 'divers'.....but there ARE plenty of female cave rescuers. An example is the woman who reached ( SEARCH for this on TH-cam ) 'John Jones & the Nutty Putty cave'. I had the chance to go spelunking about 30 years ago, when a professional guide led 8 of us down for a crawl-thru of Shasta Caverns. 2 in our group were girls.

This doesn't make sense to me. How the heck did they get in there in the first place? This is not my idea of team building or bonding. Unless there was another way in, which I doubt. I guess we have to wait and see what really went on when they are all recovered. Thank God for these wonderful people who are risking their lives to help these children out without judgement. I wish them a save recovery.
they went in a bit 'just for fun' and then got surprised by a monsoon rain which started to flood the cave, so they 'escaped' by going further and further in ending up beeing trapped. and "thank god" for trapping them inside there in the first place so he could save them later on. but help of the dozens of people who actually saved them is also appreciated.

Praying they'll get the remaining boy's and coach out before the typhoon hits. I'm wondering if they'll seal that cave opening up somehow after this is over so this won't happen again. It sounds too dangerous for even professional cave explorers and divers.

Everyone seems to be focused on the effect and not the cause. What the hell were 12 young boys doing a mile under the earth going through such tight spaces and during monsoon season?
What the hell was this "counselor" thinking? The man should be imprisoned to think about the danger he put these children in.

These are teenage boys. They see this as adventure. Just missed mom and dad.
One has to wonder how in the hell did they get in there to begin with.
Why did they went so deep inside in the first place. So diff to access? Would have put many people off?

It was 3 boys and their coach, 4 total, coach needed more medical attention than anyone
It is amazing that on the day the coach and 12 boys went into the cave that they went through places so small as to be passable only by one person with No SCUBA tank on their back
+Duggy Dugg that's exactly what I don't understand, people reply something vague like 'they went into the cave earlier' like duh we know, but *physically* it looks impossible unless they came from some other way

No one know for sure how and why until we hear from them. But the most likely scenario is that they walked in when the cave was dry. Then the rising flood blocked their way out and force them to seek higher ground inside. They are small and there should be no problem for them to walk through that hole.
Duggy Dugg+ You need to experience caving, it's dark, slippery, uneven surfaces with irregular caverns some narrow and some large, when dry it is quite a tasks to be able to pass though narrow passageways, being Thai they are probably very slim and can pass narrow spaces. When water enters the cave system it will occupy lowest points first and rise, like a water table, high areas will be dry. They must have thought that with water rising behind logical route to safety was to push forwards, only further into cave system. Ultimately they became trapped. The leader should have known better.
Dude it was totally dry with no water on the day they went into the cave so why would they need a scuba tank

No this is Wrong. The kids were completely unconscious and carried out by ONE diver only, due to the very tight gaps they had to get through. A few days before the rescue two of the English divers Rick Stanton and John Valenthon found 4 Thai men who had got trapped while laying pipes in the cave. They dived them out and all the men panicked, and they only had to go under water for 30 seconds. The kids journey took 2.5 hour's!! The only option was to sedate them.
You are 100% correct, but then again I'm looking at it from hindsight they were reporting probably what they were told even though it was wrong
