I found your presentation very simple and now very useful for me - and that's the way to present - it was easy to comprehend and will now make my maintenance work around the house much easier knowing the different ways to use the workbench

Hi I’ve never owned one but have jd other brands that were very similar, this one is more multi positional , and quite a bit heavy I’d guess, I’ll get one of the other ones and compare at some point , until then hs anyone else had both and can give some advise ????

This looks to me very like the MacAllister one I got from B&Q and have just sold because I hated it! You need three hands to open it and adjust the height and all the nuts that hold it together loosen over time. The vice jaws are good, it's good how you can open them up really wide but the crazy thing is the thread on the vice jaw handles is the opposite of what you'd expect so when you turn the handles to tighten the jaws it's actually opening them!

I have this workbench. Whilst the workbench is generally very solid there is one weak point. Today using it one of the handles has broken, it seems the plastic handles are fixed on with a very tiny metal tube which has split and broken. Without the handle to turn makes it pretty useless. Whilst the workbench is now a few years old it has only been used a few times, so perhaps the design has been modified since I bought mine.

I just bought one. The clamps seems quite unsturdy and unstable, and can move. Is that normal? Or have I done something wrong when I assembled it?

look good but what is the total size once folded?

Please would you be so kind as to tell me how big it is when folded? The thickness is to know if it fits between 2 pieces of furniture. Thank you very much for the video.

do the clamps slide while a square block forinstance is inside it? or will it stay in place while working on a project parallel with slide grooves?

They small black ones that are on the faces definitely do, and the yellow one are supposed to not move but they do unfortunately, I havnt used in a while and am at work but will check TMZ and do a small video for you to show, hope this helps

  • @andrewk5547

How do you get the "sliding" part of the top to stay in place when tightening with the other part?
On mine, the "handles" side of the top pushes the sliding part away so it does not actually tighten!
I understand that I can move the "sliding part" with the underneath metal leavers until it "clicks" and I do that.
But when I tighten the handles to clamp the workpiece the sliding part just moves away so not "locked" in position!
Is there anything I can adjust to stop this from happening?

@@ryobiuktoolsunofficial879 Thanks for the reply. Took a closer look and it seems the worktop is faulty as on one side the angled bracket that is sprung does not engage correctly with the teeth on the underside - it looks to be at more than 90 degrees compared to the other side!

I bought something that looks identical from B&Q a year or two ago but with a different name - MacAllister Metal Work Bench - maybe worth looking for that. It comes with only very basic instructions so this video is incredibly helpful.

That's the best design I've seen except for one thing it's to small for my tiny job site table saw! It needs to be able to sit on it ! If it was about 8 inches in both directions I would have two of them in rout to me right now !!! Not every one is 5'8" there's a whole lot of us Americans 6'+ and it's easy for us to Cary such a larger work bench !
