The lack of online presence for game stores in 2025 is irritating. This guy has incredible selection, but no way for buyers to even purchase unless they make a trek down to florida.
On the flip side, he runs a brick and mortar to be a local business and a part of the community. If a local store got national attention like his did and had an online store, suddenly everything would sell online and there wouldn't be anything left for his local community.

I'd favor continued diversification over putting all my eggs in one basket if it were my business, but as he said, it's hard not to follow the money. Doing away with games altogether I'm sure would at minimum disappoint some of the locals.
yep and when a boom does bust (because as history teaches us they all bust) he will have to pivot again but if he has diversification (and not get out of games totally) then he wont have any issues once that bust does come to the Current Pokémon Craze
My business kind of started the same 90/10 like him. And now were 60-70% pokemon and 30-40% games. Games will always be my passion. But we have already made our largest buys as a store and bought 13k worth of pokemon cards this month.

Wow, what an interesting video. I really love Marks candid answers and seeing the other side of the hobby. Thanks for sharing this! I hope to see more videos with store owners like this
As another local game store owner, I'm rooting for this guy, and this channel. (Though I focus on RPGs and card games not video games) Wish you both the best!
I own two video game stores that also sells cards legos comics and toys. I dont agree with the full change. You can do all 5 if your highly organized and cleably put together.
Mark! Great to see a video with you! The video from last year was excellent and it had solid business advice in it. As an aside: I am doing a course on spirituality (Ruhi Book 1), and this week we covered backbiting. I shared this video with them as we had open questions about what is backbiting. It would be nice that you don't just respond to the negative comments this time around.
As you said "it is a tough business" but it appears you have done well including pivoting to the Pokémon market. If there is a market shift, you will see it and have developed the skills to pivot again.
Well first of all - I hope he and his family have all the good family time they can get - because everyone deserves happiness. Second - I can’t blame him for this move. The video game resale space- there’s too many people, too many people driving up prices, too many price changes… seriously it sounds like an f-ing nightmare to be an owner in the space. So again - if this move will make him less stressed and more money - absolutely do not blame him and wish the best.
The fact that you can make $20 an hour at McDonalds and making any amount in your own business is night and day. No one says they love working a dead end job or brags about being a manager at a fast food spot to someone running their own business and loves their job. Trying on your own and failing is better than not and waking up everyday to make someone else rich.
I’ll never understand why people say “we did $75k for the store….not including..” like cmon. You would’ve brought it up in the last video. You’re including “extracurriculars” now as a backtrack and save face when 75k from a business is solid in year 1. So weird
And of course minutes after dude says he's thinking about getting out of selling video games Caleb immediately starts low-balling him on his games collection AND pitches his own games buying app.
Over priced games = Failed Store - People know what the prices of stuff are.. Show them online and they usually shut up. But if you make the prices obviously high don't expect to be respected.

Wanting to reduce diversification from your store seems risky from an outside perspective. I just fear if you go all in on Pokemon and it suddenly drops off you could potentially be left in a tough situation. I'm not running a business though so you'd know better, just my two cents.
"Some say pokemon's in a bubble, but whatever it's on an incline" - that's such a reckless statement and shows a lack of foresight. Everyone's a winner in a bull market, it's when it inevitably corrects that cuts everyone's legs out from under them. TCGs fluctuate, man. Pokemon is always going to have a market, but the boom dies down after some time. Just look at MTG. The sets go through cycles of booms and busts over the course of years. Of course take advantage of the boom, but turning your back on your foundation and getting rid of games sounds like a bad move, then going all in on just pokemon is a great way to topple something good. That'd be poor risk management.
Especially since Pokemon cards were a thing for 20 years before anyone really thought of them as a financial asset while video games have continually grown more popular. I think more of the new fans like the financial aspect more than they actually like the cards.
Being more mad about people pocketwatching you in the comments, rather being called a bad dad is so wild to me. Makes sence since all i got from this video is my mans insecure
@@DynamoVideoGames You know most comments are sometimes bots right? Seriously some people have bot accounts which all they do is try to get views by making dumb comments and getting reaction out of content creators like yourself. When you give them attention you get more of this stuff. Truth Hurts!
NOPE it just the Covid Boom is over and now its coming back down to earth and becoming NORMAL again like how it had been for the 20 years prior to the covid era this is actually happening across the board in MOST collectible categories that's fine for me as a reseller (been a full time online reseller the last 26 years) all that means (video game market is dead) is that prices collectors will have to sell there games for will have to come down and that will allow Real resellers of video games (that do it because they love reselling NOT Because of the PROFIT) can offer collectors better prices on Video Games its a win win (its not a win to the DEALERS that are in this JUST for the PROFIT that claim the love video games but its furthest from the truth)
For the people that say oh they sell on whatnot. Fk whatnot, I will never go on there man. Makes some websites to make stuff purchasable shit. I have zero game stores near me this shit is annoying
People do under estimate the time, consistent refinement, and effort put into making a job like pop culture collectibles look “easy”. I’ve been working at it myself for years and it is truly a slow growth model. Much respect 🫡
but the thing that separates the quitters from the ones that last for decades is one fact the quitters ONLY DO THIS for the money THEY DO NOT love what they do they FEEL like its work where as the 1% that do not quit and have there business last decades ACTUALLY love what they do 1000% and because they hit that Reselling Nirvana mindset THEY NEVER feel like they worked a day in there life i have been reselling full time online for 26 years started with ebay amazon and yahoo auctions and have been on just about every platform that has come and gone i also do In person sales via FBM, Craigslist, Flea Markets, Setting UP at Shows i would not trade it for the world as i hit That Reselling Nirvana and I DO NOT consider what i do as a reseller WORK because i love it its like i have been on a vacation for the last 26 years and i know store owners that would have there kids at there stores be it video game stores or card stores or Toy Stores what other 9-5 job can you have your family at your job with you again that is time you cant get back and once YOU become humble to being a business owner self employed and start to appreciate what Reselling and being a business owner and your own boss gives you (the benefits) that is when you TRULY LOVE it and stop considering it work like 99.9% of the other business owners and resellers Look at it as and feel like it is.

Should also sell pokemon games, switch, handheld stuff
I would close shop, just do online
Being more mad about people pocketwatching you in the comments, rather being called a bad dad is so wild to me. Makes sence since all i got from this video is my mans insecure
Thank you for proving my point
@@DynamoVideoGames You know most comments are sometimes bots right? Seriously some people have bot accounts which all they do is try to get views by making dumb comments and getting reaction out of content creators like yourself. When you give them attention you get more of this stuff. Truth Hurts!
WISHING YOU ALOT OF SUCCESS!!!
why doesnt mark sell it on ebay
I thought he was going to cry or hit him when he said he might ditch video games
It’s not a video game store anymore.
did you watch the video?
Man this kinda sucks to hear them switching over. At least keep doing some games man!!
I wish I could buy some games from your store, stinks your not online or I’d support !
Seems like video games market is dead...
Retro Rick will disagree with you. It all depends where you also live.
NOPE it just the Covid Boom is over and now its coming back down to earth and becoming NORMAL again like how it had been for the 20 years prior to the covid era this is actually happening across the board in MOST collectible categories that's fine for me as a reseller (been a full time online reseller the last 26 years) all that means (video game market is dead) is that prices collectors will have to sell there games for will have to come down and that will allow Real resellers of video games (that do it because they love reselling NOT Because of the PROFIT) can offer collectors better prices on Video Games its a win win (its not a win to the DEALERS that are in this JUST for the PROFIT that claim the love video games but its furthest from the truth)
to many people wanting ebay prices in worse condition. They drop the prices a bit that would fix it.
It’s just at the bottom of a cycle
just ask Derium about brick and mortar pokemon store that no longer exists....
For the people that say oh they sell on whatnot. Fk whatnot, I will never go on there man. Makes some websites to make stuff purchasable shit. I have zero game stores near me this shit is annoying
Does this store have a website?
I googled it. There's no website. He doesn't advertise much on Facebook and Twitter.
Mark looks great compared to last year
Nice work I was going to say the same thing about me
If you read this, keep up the grind a lot of people on these comments don’t understand your work ethic
That’s a lot of Zards
For sure most of the negative comments are just projecting from their sadass lives.
This guy should get into One Piece TCG too
Working on it!
@@DynamoVideoGames Good to hear! We have a very fun community, I wish you the best with it!
Caleb are you going to Midwest Gaming Classic again? Have to keep up my trend of seeing you there.
Do you buy games in Canada Phoenix?
