    I use a clean thick welders glove on my hands when drawing long wire that is too long for the shop. Wrap it around until you have a "grip". It doesn't hurt too much. No marks whatsoever and no pausing marks. Oil of Wintergreen is great in drawplates - good for burnishing also. Thanks for sharing!

    I don't understand how cheap rope chains are compared to the amount of hardwork that goes into them. Are jewelers underpaid or are most pieces made with machines? This is much more labor intensive than I imagined

    if you don't want your metal to crack after the pour,, slow down the cooling process by placing the hot metal into a bowl full of Lost wax investment plaster,,, slow cooling makes it soft like butter when you put it in the wire mill. try it

    thats a great looking chain there has to be a way to make it with out soldering it at ever link I like it a lot the soldering thing I don't know much I use copper wire and finding a solder to blend in is not an easy task to this day I have not
    will you know of any brands I may look for or anything I may try worse yet were I may find what ever you recommend
    thank you in advance

    • @MadeByHuss
      @MadeByHuss  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have a video showing how to put together a rope chain with no solder but this is not practical at all the wire I use in that video was very soft but it shows how to do it copper may work because it’s harder. As for soldering copper I use silver solder yes not the same colour but it can be plated after all so you can try brass which is yellow and the silver solder does not look so bad on it hope this helps

    Just an questian puting so much labour in an chain is it worth the efford financially as you have so much competion with factory chain made at minmal prices? I am just wondering? After all you run an bussiness and have to be profitable.

    dude, I'm excited to have found your channel. your patiences is uncommon. I'm curious if you where instructed on this technique or watched a video like I just did. I must be too pragmatic though bc the whole time I was watching you create this piece I was wondering how one could profit off the time it's takes when using silver? I would charge at least $550 but who would pay that for silver? some people must or you wouldn't waste the time. I want to give you mad props for making this video, thank you very much!

      @@MadeByHuss I'm sure I speak for everyone except the nit-picky tools who thumbed down your video when I say, thanks for sharing your knowledge and techniques. I'm fairly new as a goldsmith and I'm amazed on how this stuff was made by hand long ago - brilliant.

    What is the minimum and maximum Ar(Aspect Ratio) for this classic rope chain???

    • @MadeByHuss
      @MadeByHuss  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think as big as you like as long as you can bend it but I wouldn’t go too small difficult to hold

    Could you do this with much smaller diameter wire and smaller links? To make a finer chain or does that weaken it?

    • @MadeByHuss
      @MadeByHuss  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hudson Tolleson if have the patience yes check out the disruption or may in my other rope chain video to work out size of links and best of luck thanks for commenting

    I always thought rope chains were all actualy closed tight around each ring I had no idea that they were open and just soldered or fused now I know why my rope chain broke so easy!! Great video!!! I'm looking for a video showing mariner link chain being made but I can't find anything at all!

      Same thought. The dense weave made me think that it’s strong. I guess the Byzantine chain style is better?

    Es muy tardado en esa técnica el torsal se escarchan los eslabones a cierta medida para lograr lo firme de la cadena y se arma con pinzas alludandose de alambre especial y para soltarlo se ase con soldadura de pasta esta Se aplica con una geringa. .el torsal no se pule este terminado lo da solo el laminador para ello deve estar en perfectas condiciones. Saludos.
