A lengthy yet luscious explanation. The effort this man puts in, is palpable in the great number of recursions that he makes to hammer home the concept. You have an intuitive grasp of didactic processes sir, all the best.

Wao, what a video?? I'm super amazed to see that how one can teach physics so beautifully. Mtlb aap jaise teachers agr universities or schools mei ho to baccho ka bhala ho jayega, kisi ko bhi physics se pyaar ho jayega pyaar. Sacchi physics ek bhot accha subject h bas aap jaisa teacher chahiye pdhane ko. Mtlb itte reactions ke sath physics pdhana, bilkul feel aa gya topic ka. Superb explanation, excellent explanation
Lots of love to the video and explanation too.
Waise ye topic quantum physics mei bhi h.

26:57 sir you said (0,0) peak would be the most intense peak (in the case where the inter nuclear distance remains the same),but you marked (1,0) peak to be the most intense in the spectrum graph previously
Thank you for the explanation btw,i understood the concept completely now thanks to you

The excited state minima can be anywhere; it can be larger or smaller than the equilibrium position of the ground electronic state. The vertical transition(which means nuclei didn't move)decides which transition will be most intense under Franck-Condon regime. Even if the excited state is shifted v=0 state goes up to with v' (usually not to 0)state on the excited state depending upon their overlap factors. And depending upon the displacement these intensities would change. So the middle case that you have drawn does not happen. FYI overlap means inner product between two hermite polynomials centred around different poisitions
Please don't explain wrongly. Also,The born-Oppenheimer approximation is something entirely different from what you have said.
