You had me a SCUBA divers! We went on Atlantis last year when we were on Oahu last year. We’re definitely going to go on the Reef Dancer when (hopefully not if) we go to Maui some day.
I have done both and would pick the Atlantis over the Reefdancer everytime as long as you are able to go up and down the ladder-like stairs. There’s nothing like seeing the Carthaginian underwater (though I preferred it as a museum.)I would suggest the Reefdancer however if you are unsure of how all the members of your party will react to enclosed spaces. Luckily, I selected the Reefdancer for my first family foray and we discovered that my daughter (13 at the time, who knew?) became severely claustrophobic in an underwater enclosed space. Luckily the crew let her spend the rest of the cruise topside so we didn’t ruin the trip for everyone else by having to return to the dock.
Years ago I went on the Atlantis and on the shuttle ride out the boat was accompanied by flying fish skipping along both ahead and alongside. it was pretty neat.
Thank you for showing the different ways you go down. . . .stairs vs ladders. We will, have grandma and grandpa along on our trip in October and I was wondering how easy (or not) it might be for them to ride one of these. Stairs it is!
It all depends on how well grandma and grandpa get around without assistance, and how comfortable they are stepping onto one bobbing vessel from another bobbing vessel. My mother-in-law, who was 76 at the time, went on Atlantis with us last summer. She gets around better than most. She took it easy, making sure she was sure-footed going down the ladder into the sub. The most difficult part for us the day we went was stepping off the boat that shuttles people to Atlantis and stepping onto the deck of the submarine, and vice versa.
Cool experiences, didn't know these were a thing! Less family-friendly upgrade option, and arguably the best thing to do in Hawaii in general: learn to scuba dive :)
I’ve considered the Atlantis in Waikiki before, thought it would be an experience. Next month, I’m doing the submarine scooters, so looking forward that that.
Definitely loved the Atlantis - Had a great time and sat in the seat closest to the pilot. He saw that I had a video camera and let me film a bit leaning into the cockpit for a front row view :-)
Aloha Erika & Jordan. I did the Atlantis submarine tour in 2018. I loved it. Saw the ship, sharks & 3 beautiful stingrays. Amazing! The staff was entertaining and I enjoyed watching the sub go back down. Had a great time. I would do it again in a heartbeat.🌴🤙😎
Great video. I’ll have to keep these in mind. I am a diver so the subs are not the way for me, but will be great to use as a way to get family members a bit of the experience and the things I see when diving. Personally I wish they would take the subs and go do the backside of Molokini crater- that is an amazing sight.
that would be an amazing experience. It is a production to get the Atlantis to the Carthaginian so I don't imagine they will tow it out to Molokini anytime soon.
🤣. First of all this isn't any real knowledge just a couple of dumb tourist, one of many millions giving some opinion based on one trip. Here's the difference: Reef dancer is a glass bottom boat. It's pretty old n kind of lame, but you can see the reef and yes divers go down and grab stuff. Atlantis is an actual submarine, although they incorrectly stated goes to 133 feet, it goes maybe 60 ft deep, but yes, it is technically a submarine and goes underwater. There is the difference. But NO!!, neither one of these tours should go to molokini or anywhere further than they go, which is right outside the Harbour, because they are both tourist traps and just Turn and Burn Mass people.. The last thing we need with what's left of our natural environment of the ocean of Hawaii is more Mass people movers and tours..
I've never heard of that option. Winter vacationers, like those who own second homes, still rent for 2 to 3 months from a major carrier or local company in my experience.
The itineraries are updated every three months, an updated Oahu itinerary will be sent out tomorrow. Our Oahu videos are relevant and we share other updates in our newsletter!
I apologize for this comment being "off topic", but has anyone flown from Calgary to Maui thru Vancouver lately? Our connection layover time is 2:50 and I believe we need to go thru customs in YVR, not here at YYC. Are any of you other viewers having any troubles making the connection flight? Thanks for any input!!!
Holy wow! Never been this early for one of y’all’s videos before! Love yalls vibe and your videos are so informative, thank you so so much for all the hard work y’all put in to bring us them. 🤍
We saw in pictures that the ReefDancer was destroyed in the Lahaina Harbor. The Atlantis and the support tug may have not gone back to the harbor yet or was in the harbor to avoid the winds. We can't tell in pictures.
I'll be honest , I don't like that they grab the wildlife , harass and disturb it and haul it over to the Reefdancer . If you want a Show , go to a zoo . You should respect nature , and manhandling animals daily is not good for them ( their skin is damaged ask any fish keeper )
A 'semi-submersible' is just a boat with windows under the water line. An Atlantis class submarine is just that, a submarine. The 'semi-submersible' can dive one time only and will never surface. The Atlantis class submarine can dive as many times as it has battery power to do so. There is zero to compare. The use of the word 'semi-submersible' is a marketing gimmick, nothing more.

Fun fact: I live in Barbados and I saw the aTLANTIC SUBMARINE statue and the actual submarine itself

Thanks for sharing! The ReefDancer is a good, reliable choice for the whole family. A good for step to get into the water for some folks.
We loved the Atlantis submarine tour. For non swimmers it was so much and quite the experience to sit on the ocean floor.
agree! a good tour for non swimmers and younger folks who can't snorkel
Years ago I went on the Atlantis and on the shuttle ride out the boat was accompanied by flying fish skipping along both ahead and alongside. it was pretty neat.
That is really cute. I love Henry's take on there lol. I've done Atlantis but never the reef so we might have to check that out next trip!
you guys are amazing. Thanks for sharing your experience. Much appreciated
thanks for the comment! we have fun making these videos

Really liked this comparison video. Very helpful when trying to make decisions for future trips. Thank you!
great to hear! thanks for letting me know

I’ve considered the Atlantis in Waikiki before, thought it would be an experience. Next month, I’m doing the submarine scooters, so looking forward that that.
Those scooters sound like a lot of fun. They have so many water toys these days.
Definitely loved the Atlantis - Had a great time and sat in the seat closest to the pilot. He saw that I had a video camera and let me film a bit leaning into the cockpit for a front row view :-)
that would have been fun! very friendly crew! It was still at half capacity when we went out so we got a lot of view time on each of the sites.

Thanks for sharing Darlene. We were lucky to see an eel but would have loved to see stingrays. Going to Stinger Rays at OGG isn't the same.
This looks really awesome! Question, it doesnt endanger the animals at all for the divers to pick them up and bring them to the boat?
It probably isn't pleasant for the animals. The divers return them alive to where they found them in the reef.

Doing both is the way to go!
Hi! do you guys have any recommendations for long term car rentals on Maui? like renting for a year or so?
I've never heard of that option. Winter vacationers, like those who own second homes, still rent for 2 to 3 months from a major carrier or local company in my experience.
@@TheHawaiiVacationGuide gotcha thank you so much for the reply!
😍love all the info
Can you guys do another brief update on Oahu and things to do? Also, is the itinerary updated for after COVID?? My trip is in 4 weeks 😁😁
The itineraries are updated every three months, an updated Oahu itinerary will be sent out tomorrow. Our Oahu videos are relevant and we share other updates in our newsletter!
Great comparisons I think in my mind the Atlantis win’s.
Does Waikiki have something like the reefdancer?
Afraid not. There is an Atlantis submarine that leaves from the Hilton Hawaiian Village
Is there anything like the Reef Dancer in Oahu?
I don't believe so. The Atlantis is on Waikiki, leaves from Hilton Hawaiian Village
Which one is the best option for someone who gets seasick from the boat rocking?
probably take a lot of motion sickness pills and do the ReefDancer. Or best to stay on shore!
Has anyone done the Atlantis tour Oahu and Maui? I'm trying to decide which one to do. Thanks!
I'd recommend the Maui tour as the sunken ship is amazing to see.

Cute family you are building. A fan from the beginning. Thx for another great video

thanks for watching and for the comment!
I am hearing both companies lost everything in the fire. Anyone know if this is true?
We saw in pictures that the ReefDancer was destroyed in the Lahaina Harbor. The Atlantis and the support tug may have not gone back to the harbor yet or was in the harbor to avoid the winds. We can't tell in pictures.
The Atlantis is capsized on the reef
Wish they didn't touch the animals
Atlantis for us but with family it would be Reefdancer..what a great excursion….
Are masks still being forced to go on the reef dancer and atlantis submarine?
No, that ended in March 2022
@@TheHawaiiVacationGuide Glad to hear.
Your son is so cute 😊
he likes his submarines, and knows when it isn't one. thanks for watching!
No qesion Atlantis won over some surface boat.
I'll be honest , I don't like that they grab the wildlife , harass and disturb it and haul it over to the Reefdancer . If you want a Show , go to a zoo . You should respect nature , and manhandling animals daily is not good for them ( their skin is damaged ask any fish keeper )
That’s fair. The reef dancer was destroyed in the Lahaina fire so the tour is no more.
