I genuinely believe that someone could write a doctorate on this entire project and its subsequent data. The ingenuity required plus the setting of a gargantuan sandbox is like a once-in-a-lifetime ant farm. This all had to take place with people not knowing they were being tracked to make sure the data was clean, and I don't think it'll happen again for a long time.

A doctorate needs to solve a question or at least explore one. I'm not sure if there's any worthwhile question that could be explored other than the human psychology. Then you'd also have to explore multiple servers to get worthwhile data.
If it was just a general report and not answering a question, Fit's already got a headstart on that in his last video. Someone could spend heaps of time writing up a report in detail how it was done and how we could learn from it, that would be really interesting.
It might be hard as a random to get all the data from the hackers though
I can predict that after the release of this video, there will be a huge spike in use of unpopular blocks and all sorts of stuff just because people want to be unique.

To be honest, queue system is more efficient to discourage new players than the Spawn itself and all mega projects launched by 2B2T community combined
as someone who wants to play 2b2t and didnt want to wait for hours in the queue, can confirm
ikr, always wanted to try it out for fun but after hearing the hours and sometimes days of queue, nah man ain't gonna waste electricity like that
I remember some years ago, when 2b2t wasn't as popular as it is now, I saw a spanish youtuber playing the server and wanted to try it out, when I entered, my position in queue was around 40-50, but I didn't want to wait so I left...

actually why doesnt someone make an app that can notify you when you're almost through queue? Shouldnt be that hard to read chat with a client. From there send a discord ping or something

First of all, there are people who found a way to avoid being tracked, and there is an entire video by Fit, dedicated to it, made not so long ago..
Second, depends on what can be considered a base, because there are a lot of buildings all over the server, and griefing them all is practically griefing the entire server, which is a huge task even if you know the location of everything.

If something goes wrong and you're disconnected, you're back at the end of the line again.
Despite the freedom, I'd ironically get bored quickly on 2b2t. You're just gonna keep on dying at spawn. I don't see a point in bothering just to play an old anarchy server.

Me basically. I got tired of sailing over the endless, rubberbanding, kicking me out of my boat oceans. I've got so many other interests and things I ought to be doing. Plus 2b will never be worth playing again with the insane wait times and there are plenty of other large anarchy servers spanning several years.

170 hours is a surprisingly low number to reach the top 1% of total playtime, i would have guessed much higher considering the years some people have played

The NOCOM database can be used to start a government, even on the Oldest Anarchy Server in Minecraft. Residential behavior, agricultural activity, architecture, mortality rates. Basically everything touched upon in this video.

I guess the queue filters out people enough to boost those numbers
If a player is willing to sit through the queue then it’s safe to assume they know what 2b2t is and are more willing to overlook the other flaws, if anything 7% is fairly low
@Hernando Malinche wrong, the main reason people never join the server is the queue. If a player never joins the server they are not counted as a new player. That 7% is a value which describes all players who have sat through the queue already. Hence my original comment.

@@jakubszczesnowicz3201 wrong. Anyone can sit in the queue, it's not hard. 7% playing for over a month is very high, even for a normal server. It's very surprising that many people stay on 2b2t

As destructive as the data Nocom gathered is, it is incredibly useful for archival purposes.
True. When I first watched his Nocom video, all I thought was that this would be preservationist's dream.
Every base automatically downloaded and archive. Plus a full version history of each base.
This data could also be very interesting to behavioral & data scientists.
But opening it for everyone to download would mean every base would be griefed and all players would have to start from zero.

Most of the block stuff like terracotta, wool, and redstone was likely a byproduct of the actual exploit (they could just generate stats through the copy world the exploit generated), but yeah its amazing they went as far as potion slot trends...
@@annoyingdogx3 They probably used automation, as it is common in Data Science. Though they didn't need to do it, but they still did it anyway. This is a clear example of how big data is converted into useful information.
I just can't express the epicness I feel everytime the exploit's tracker visualization pops up (like at 6:11) it just looks so cool

I always hear how rough it is to escape spawn, I walked 5000 blocks out without seeing a soul.
sure I had to walk dodge some withers and bridge over some crazy gaps, but all in all I made it just fine.
made myself a crafting table after finding some trees, made a small hut at 22,000 or so (it's probably gone by now, haven't logged in, in like 12 months). but it's not that bad.

Do they still have /kill enabled? I seem to remember that incredibly convenient command when I jumped on and spawned in a less than ideal location. I just kept intentionally offing myself until I spawned somewhere convenient and started to move on.

Well, looks like it's time for some crazy SOB to break the stats and make a base from nothing but Magenta Terracotta and Lime Carpets.
I remember when you released that first video on Nocom, I had the thought that it may have been used to grief bases, but it could also be used to keep a record of ungriefed versions of bases in a way that could be so much better than just screenshots. Imagine being able to walk through the builds that are nothing but a few pieces of original rubble and lavacasts like they would’ve been when the build was completely standing…

Other servers probably have the exploit patched and different plugins
Now that paperMC has patched it, it’s probably impossible on most other anarchy servers as well
Why would other anarchy servers look at anything else other then 2b2t and how those exploits work on that server. Only makes sense to see what hausemaster does and patch accordingly. Their, exploit is no more

I played on this server sometime in 2012-2013 and had no idea what it was hahahaha i kept getting killed and gave up after 12 hours. some one kept finding me even after digging and covering the hole with dirt. it's crazy at the time I thought 2b2t was just another server. Thanks for the videos Fit!
