This is super useful cuz I’ll be leaving for vacation soon. Can you do another Q&A video soon? I’d love to see one. They are super interesting and informational😁👌💕💕💕♥️♥️
My chinchilla is my emotional support animal so I have to take her withe me i wishe I didint but i sure this will help me in the future im saying all thes because I wunt to say thank u idk if u realize what u do helps me and a lot of people I notice u don't get a lot of thank you so with all of this I want to say thank u :3 😁 and keep up the good job :3
flurry's tv anmashon Aww, of course, Love. I absolutely love helping you and others out and don’t expect anything in return. But your comment really made my day😊💕💕
Hello I'am doge i have ben watching your videos on guiding what it is and what it it like to have a chinchilla. When i got my chinchilla i knew what to do. I fed Him And Kept him Cool and gave him dust bath 4-7 timmes a week. But i feel like my chinchilla is starting not to eat alot.So I'm wondering if you should make a video on what chinchilla should eat and what chinllis should not eat.
dogelikesdenis Well, I mean there’s not that much to it. Chinchillas typically eat lots of hay and about 2 or so tablespoons of pellets a day. Are you filling his bowl with food and noticing him not touching it at all?
Hi :) just wondering, is it ok to leave your chinchilla out of their cage for most of the day? At the moment I leave my chin Grayson out for quite a while but he has access to water and his cage whenever he wants. I’m also in there with him during this time and he seems happy. Just hoping he couldn’t over exercise himself! Thanks 😊
Horses and Chinchillas That’s actually really good that you do that! It gives them lots of interesting things to do and explore outside of his cage. As long as whenever he’s out of the cage you are with him at all times, then it’s a perfect arrangement😊
I got my nanny cam set up to watch gizmo and then my dad will be coming by to top up food and water it’s only a 4 day vacation and I told him he must come by once a day to check on him 😅
Question : When you have a small photo shoot with Merlin, How do you take pics of him when he is jumping? Or just moving in General? I have taken about 6 really good pics of my furry... but those where done within 2 months! Please help! Thanks!
The Chinchilla Diary It usually takes me a long time and many shots when I do photoshoots. But one thing I've found really helps is catching him in his cage when he's tried or eating. That way he's too lazy to really move anywhere. Another thing I do is give him treats to distract him and keep him staying still and chewing. Other times he just spaces off and I get the chance to get tons of shots😊
Alexandra Nemodruk Without a caretaker at all, I’d say probably two nights. But with a caretaker, as long as you can get them to come and check up on them, as long as you like. 😊
I have a question. Would it be ok to leave a chinchilla alone for about 24 hours? Or what do you think is the maximum amount of time you can leave a chinchilla by its self.
Raegan's_ Life I would leave for weekends at a time. Just two days or so and Merlin was fine. I made sure he had plenty of food, hay, and water and lots of toys to keep him occupied and he was good to go. 24 will be perfectly fine as long as he’s got everything he needs😊
My chinchilla is in my dorm bedroom and I go home in the weekends. But if the weather is bad (raining or to hot) in the weekend I will leave him there for the weekend. Then he is alone for 2 days, I just make sure I clean his cage thoroughly before I leave, make sure he has enough hay and water and give him a few chew toys.
is cardboard bad for chinchillas? when I let my chins out for playtime i keep them in a playpen type area i made partly out of cardboard so I was wondering.
Christian Bragg I do that as well, and if you are watching them, it's okay. Chins will sometimes nibble at it but you don't want them ripping off pieces and actually eating it. But for playtime purposes, you're good😊
I will be gone for five days in a few weeks. I’ll have someone coming over three times a day for the rest of my animals, and she can check in on my little chin as well. Do you think he’ll be okay if he stays in his cage for five days until I come home? He has a wheel, loads of platforms, and chew toys to keep him busy. My sitter will also give him lots of pets and chin scratches.
Marebear If there’s absolutely no way of your caretaker letting him out, then he’ll be okay. Merlin won’t be able to get out more than once or twice a week right now since I’m gone from home and it’s just something that has to happen. As long as your chinnie has plenty of interesting things to do and lots of space in his cage to jump around, he’ll be fine😊
The Chinchilla Notebook Thank you for your input! I don’t think she’ll be able to since I have so many other animals for her to take care of. (Dogs, cat, bunny, guinea pigs, parrot, tortoise, fish, and plants.) I think I’ll do some shopping and get some new toys for him and put them in the cage the day I leave so he’ll have even more stuff. Plus it’ll be new stuff so maybe he’ll find it more interesting.
Miss cotton candy cat :3 Not sure it’s the best idea to have a Chinchilla if you can’t really give it the time and stability it needs. You might just stick to other animals that don’t require a lot of time like chinnies. It’s best not to move Chinchillas around 💕
Alice’s Random Stuff The longest I've left Merlin is for the weekend, so for like 2 nights and I made sure he had plenty of everything he needed and he was all good. If you are extra worried, you can ask someone to check in but I don't think it's too necessary 😊
How does merlin not jump out when the upper floor of his cage is open? My chinchilla will literally jump out blindly so far I had to catch him mid-air twice. I really want to teach him not to jump out of the upper part
That Belgian Girl Merlin has only done that a couple times and each time it was because he really wanted out and I wouldn’t let him from the lower part. I don’t know how you can keep your chinnie from jumping, just make sure you don’t leave the doors open up there for long if it’s a problem and watch him closely😉
I have a problem with my chinchillas diet. I have 2 11 week old chinchilla sisters. As soon as I give them there pellets, they scarf them down and barely eat their hay. Yesterday I started to give them small amounts of pellets through out the day but they still are only eating very little hay. I'm not sure if this is healthy for them and I don't know how to fix it...please help 😥
Lilly W Try feeding them pellets in the morning and evening and leave them with hay throughout the day and night. What you can do is give them a full bowl of pellets and let them eat their fill (or at least what you think is normal) in the morning and then take it away for the test of the day until the evening, repeating the process. Hopefully this way they'll learn to rely more on the hay throughout the day. Hope this helps!☺️💕
I just got a chinchilla 2 days ago but we have to be gone for 2 days I’ve been cleaning her cage and feeding her well and giving her attention and space she needs I am scared to leave her alone
Nice video like always, only little detail, glass bottles are much more better l than plastic because plastic is nest for bacterias. Even for human everything taste better from glass right :)
Fehrplay89 Yes, I always preferred glass water bottles. They are easier to clean and stay fresher. My brother went out and bought that plastic one, lol😊
AmericanGirlDollSmiles I’ve never owned two chinchillas before or have had to bond them, so I can’t really help you first hand. But there’s a really good online website called ChinCare.com and they have excellent information on bonding two chins together. 😊
So much work to find some to come in to take of your animals. Just find a animal daycare or a vet to take of your animal when you are traveling. It’s quite cheap.
oooh, Awww, hihihihihih, he would love to to chew the band of the camera !! Hihhihi , num num num num , this blue star is suddenly so tasty , num num num , I wi sh I could take care of his royal fluffiness. :D
Merlin is just like "give me cuddles Mommy! I need cuddles!" such a cutie
Dreamkiller 9 Lol, yes, he constantly wants attention☺️

Its hard to trust people because they may do the wrong thing. For example people might grab their tail or overfeed treats. I love your videos.
Yeah, that's why it's important to get someone who knows not to do things like that and who are capable of caring for them right:)
Can you do a vid on all the chinchilla colors ( sounds stupid I know ) also love the channel, your a good person p.s. my chin let’s me hold it
Sam Smith I can probably do a post on that on my Instagram cause it’s not very much to put into a video. But maybe I will, I’ll see😊
The Chinchilla Notebook thanks so much

Do chinchillas get scared by fireworks and vacuums and any loud noise?
_-Crystal Kate-_ Not really. I mean it’s different for every chin but typically they aren’t since they’re domesticated and are used to house noises😊
The Chinchilla Notebook Thank you because my cat is scared of any noises so I wanted to know if chinchillas are the same way:)
the directions for the cleaning and care
Where did you get the toy in the thumbnail? Was it from Chinvilla?
Zackary Garcia I actually got it from PetSmart😊

The Chinchilla Notebook is it ok if a get a camera and see my chinchilla beachside I want to see my chinchilla

The Chinchilla Notebook they do rip it off and chew on the parts they rip off I cant tell if they actually eat it or not tho
Christian Bragg Do they ever drop it or do they just ingest it?
What is the longest period of time you would say it is okay for them to be left for vacation

Does he ever chew the fleece?
Emily Ricketson He doesn’t 💕
Thank you so much!!!!👍👍👍
What if I have to leave for too months at my dads and my mom goes to work and so does my step dad and I have a lots of cats and dogs there
And it takes 12 hours
Miss cotton candy cat :3 Not sure it’s the best idea to have a Chinchilla if you can’t really give it the time and stability it needs. You might just stick to other animals that don’t require a lot of time like chinnies. It’s best not to move Chinchillas around 💕
The Chinchilla Notebook well my mom said I can be there for a month instead of too months and my mom well take care of the chinchilla
If you go camping for like about 2 days should we get a pet sitter?
Alice’s Random Stuff The longest I've left Merlin is for the weekend, so for like 2 nights and I made sure he had plenty of everything he needed and he was all good. If you are extra worried, you can ask someone to check in but I don't think it's too necessary 😊
Hi Chinchilla Notebook!😀😀😀😀😀Do you know how much I should be feeding my chinchilla?
Sophia Altom Unlimited amounts of hay and make sure it's fresh. As for the food, give as much as they want, so basically keep he bowl stocked😊
The Chinchilla Notebook basically let them hog out on itXD
Can I leave my chinchilla alone for 3 full days?
Dalilah Waki I would recommend someone coming at least once for a check up if that’s possible 💕
How does merlin not jump out when the upper floor of his cage is open? My chinchilla will literally jump out blindly so far I had to catch him mid-air twice. I really want to teach him not to jump out of the upper part

The Chinchilla Notebook Thank you!
One question I have though is if you have nobody to watch your chinchilla, what should you do
Camille Richardson Idk, is it possible for family? Friends? Or maybe look up a pet sitter online
I just got a chinchilla 2 days ago but we have to be gone for 2 days I’ve been cleaning her cage and feeding her well and giving her attention and space she needs I am scared to leave her alone

I just got another chinchilla today 😁 Her name is Oreo and she is 6 or 7 months old. Do you have any tips on bonding chinchillas?
AmericanGirlDollSmiles I’ve never owned two chinchillas before or have had to bond them, so I can’t really help you first hand. But there’s a really good online website called ChinCare.com and they have excellent information on bonding two chins together. 😊
