In all honesty I think that mdf will be a constant issue with the humidity.
I would personally rip it off and replace with softwood architrave and indeed I would still prime the back of this prior to fitting.

@@LS-td3dz its compatible with pvc sheathing and conduit, the foam should not come into direct contact with the cables themselves.
