    Thank you for sharing the mistakes everyone can make during the repair. That helps me a lot and save a lot of money. Big thumbs up from me and from germany !

    good info, very informative,,..also if stuck in 4x4 did you open the solenoid on transfer case, there is a nylon gear that wears out and you will be stuck in 4x4.. i did mine when stuck..took a little over an hour and cost $6 for the part..not stuck any more in 4x4..but man that is a lot of work for angle sensor and you were honest about mistakes...thanks

    I can ship you a couple of used speed/abs sensors from the scrapyard next time I see an e83, I put a used one at the rear on mine and it worked out... This car needs lots of love, I usually get parts from rockauto, same brands but most likely cheaper than local aftermarket parts stores, even after shipping fees... You'll have to change driveshafts, bearings, axles, control arms, bushings like any other car, it's just more expensive parts, only reason I have one, is because it's 6 speed.
    Thanks for the video, I have 2 "steering angle sensor" related codes that keep coming on intermittently, I'm looking forward to replacing that sensor soon.

      Thanks for the offer Jeff. I already bought new Bosch ones. I will put them in before winter. Too many computers on this car. Runs great though, no problems so far.

    Three lights are wheel sensors and could be in a few cases dirty transfer case fluid. Amazon sensors worked ok...

    A bit confused by your video. In my research that first short shaft needs to come out. All the 3 series cars are the same and that short shaft gets removed. I think if I folow along where you went wrong is pulling on the shaft after the short shaft was removed?

    Ok video and guided me somewhat. Jumping to the steering being complete was not very helpful. Disassembly was somewhat helpful. The intermediate shaft will be removed regardless from my experience. Airbox off, intermediate air intake tube and the throttle body to even hope to reach the 12 external torx bolt on the steering shaft in order to get out. From what I have seen on youtube, this does give the most information. install was easier as the steering wheel being fully extended gives just enough shaft to install the intermediate shaft and reach with a ratchet/extension/socket... much better on the install really...

      I think this is Wondershare Filmora. I have tried several. I was using Power director but they kept shutting me down and wanting more money for upgrades, Pissed me off after about $155 and still didn't work right. I am now back with wondershare and it is better than ever. Simple to use.

      @@MOAB Thanks for the info Bruce I will look into it, sounds like Wondershare Filmora is the way to go. Just wanted something simple and not overly expensive.

    So what was cause that you had to change the sas, and what was telling you that wheel sensors were bad?
    Were you getting the 4x4, airbag and emergency brake yellow light on at same time?

    • @MOAB
      @MOAB  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I bought one of those BMW code readers which now looking back are junk. But anyways that code reader said SAS was bad. yes I was getting the dreaded 3 warning light on.

    • @MOAB

      @@DR-dk6dh I can't remember, it looks familiar. I tried looking through my old pictures to see the codes because I always take pictures of them so i can look them up, but I cant find them. I don't think that was my problem. I think it just had to be reset. I had the battery disconnected for about a month.

      Figured it out. I replaced the plastic gear in the side of transfer case. I cleaned and checked all the wheel sensors. That did nothing. Then i plugged in a autel maxi 808 scanner and relearned rhe steering sensor and it cleared all 3 lights

    Could you install a simple switch that would cause the car to go in and out of 4-wheel drive?

    • @MOAB
      @MOAB  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was planning on doing that at some point. The problem is that it is a 7 pin connector. I tried to find the power one but couldn't with the ignition turned on or the car running. I think it has to be in gear and running. I am trying to find a wiring diagram on the internet. Good Idea though.
