- We’ve only got one life to live, but thanks to three simple keystrokes, at least we can restart our PCs! This is the story of how one clever man created Control-Alt-Delete: a relatively tiny engineering tweak that changed IBM computers, and mortal existence as we know it.

Stunning animation.
It's excellent.
They're the best channel tho
It's garbage.
@@germen343 How is it garbage? Do you have proof to it? Is it just not your style? Do you have a actual reason behind your opinion?

What ahahaha!, nice one, eh 2.
But they have space between them...
CTRL+SHIFT+ESC can open up Task Manager directly instead of going through the Ctrl+Alt+Del option... or right-clicking the taskbar as well. I know some of you may know that already, but I thought I might share a faster way of going to task manager :D
omg ty
Thanks man !
I do this too :D
CTRL-ALT-DEL was firstly invented to restart a PC directly even when the PC freezes, so without task manager :-) in that case faster then CTRL-SHIFT-ESC
Thanks a lot

Thank you dr Dave. You saved many computers from being thrown out a windows. Then came windows which allowed multi tasking.

The animation style looks amazing, would love to see more of it!
Your motion graphic artist on this video is absolutely amazing.
the animation is the best part of this video. please make more 🙏🏾.
Cracked up by that animation 😂😂😂
Thanks for bringing us the stories that we can all relate to wondering how that came about, but never thought of asking. This was a good one.
There’s a story behind everything :)

I love this channel.
Makes for excellent conversation material.
Amazing illustration & sound mix...
I'm part of the CTRL-ALT-DELETE legacy. I redesigned Task Manager in Windows 8. It was eye-opening as to how many people use this functionality --- roughly 500 million users at the time.
Love the animation
lovin the animation! As always, cool and informative vid! Keep it coming guys!!
Mad props to whoever did the animation for this 🙌
Where is this man's Nobel prize, I ask you, where?!
Momchil Enchev he doesn’t deserve it! Cltr-Alt -Del was terrible and still is terrible. It was bad for computing... it fixed nothing and only made programmers and amateur users lazy.
Mich Washington that’s the point of engineering and programming: try to do stuff in the fastest and laziest fashion.
Well there's no nobel prize in computer science. There is a turning award given for some invention or discovery of completely new concept in CS
He obviously never thought of cats when coming up with the "safe" way to reset the computer.

Oh! So that's why Roy from The IT Crowd always say that in every episode.
That is a pretty cool story.
Who made this animation? It's so retro and gorgeous I practically want stills of it! I hate that these things don't have credits. They should!
This Animation is on whole another level
That monitor and knobs reminds of all the times I stared at it playing King's Quest, Space Quest, Police Quest, etc. Good memories.

Such a great presentation. I'm at a loss for words.
We called this combo "pedals". So once the Pc hung we knew it was time to hit pedals.

So good! Love the idea
The animation is beautiful!!
I used an IBM XT back in the early '80s as my first PC computer. I had lots of great memories with the computer even though it didn't have a colour display monitor which had only one colour. Software programs were simple back then it rarely crashed or froze, so I rarely used Ctrl-Alt-Del on the IBM XT. I was a 5-6 year old kid back then using my Dad's computer.
Nah, alt+f4 is the real life hack here.
I always love how the Great Big Story does its animations.
Same
Awesome animations!!
As an absolute nerd this was insanely interesting to me, made me almost cry.
You know that feeling when you open task manager to kill the non responding programs but it itself is not responding....
Or when the task manager opens up but the primary screen is stuck on the non responding program so you have to do some keyboard shortcut wizardry to maneuver onto the task manager and close the program while barely being able to tell what you're doing...
Oooo, love the animation!
I love these kinds of animation, I need more
Thought this was a "Lazy Game Reviews" video at first lol
Welcome to behind the meme...
The animation is just NICEEEE
So cute! Love the story. Adore the animation.
I seem to remember Bill Gates saying incorporating the Ctrl Alt Del combo in Windows was one of his biggest regrets - people with impaired mobility have a real hard time pressing the three buttons simultaneously, especially with Del being so far across the keyboard.
Ctrl shift esc
ctrl alt del doesnt even work when my computer freezes lmao
Great stunning animation
One of the most creative ways of demo animation. Wow!

I MISS❤ THIS IBM PC.
Really love this animation style.
Now guys, pressing Alt+F4 will make your computer run 75% faster than before
If you have a shitty old pc running vista, it actually does run 75% faster

the animation is beyond EPIC 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Thank you very much Dr. Dave Bradley for being an important part of history.

The animation and sound effects for Ctrl Alt Del was MMPH. I FELT that
I didn't even start watching it but a deep dark voice inside tells me that I shall finally explore the meaning of the universe here. So bewildering indeed!
