    Ma'am on 14th feb 2020 i met an accident and got fractured my mandible (right lower jaw).
    On 16th i went through arch wiring surgery.. it has been 35 days .3 days ago i got my arch wiring put off. Now the dentist has suggest me to keep the mouth closed only like old way during surgery. Suggest me for how long it will take to heal completely? Need your words plz

    • @5minDENTISTRY

      It depends on the extent of fracture, friend. Mostly for bone to heal it may take 6 months to 9 months. It is better to be careful until then. Take care.

    Mam my brother who is 25 years old got a road traffic accident last week on 9th October. After getting the scans done we got to know that he had a condyle and maxillary buttress fracture. Now he has pain in opening his mouth. His lips are sutured. The doctors are advising for a surgery. Should he go for it or will it heal on its own?what if he doesn't get the surgery done? What are long term effects? He speaks perfectly as before.and what care should he take now if he doesn't get surgery.
    Please advice mam pls reply 🙏

      If doctors are advising for a surgery, it is better to go for it. Healing on its own is unfavourable manytimes.
      We pray for your brother's speedy recovery 🙏🏼

      @@5minDENTISTRY Maam we met the senior doctor today anyway he told me no need for surgery, it will heal itself! The junior doctors advised us for surgery(maybe they needed some handson experience or extra internal marks IDK) that would be so scary 😱. Now I am so relieved and happy!

    Symphysis and midline fracture r not same ,mam?

    • @5minDENTISTRY
      @5minDENTISTRY  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes friend. They often mean the same. Some classifications also include parasymphysis region under symphysis name. Here the classification is based on the school of thought that midline fractures are exactly between the lower central incisors, symphysis fracture indicated a slightly wider area lateral to that and parasymphysis denoted fractures in the intercanine space.

      @@5minDENTISTRY It happened to be that my uncle,65 yrs old, fell two nights before and got his mandible fractured. We took him to an orthopaedic surgeon who referred him to an orthognathic surgeon.
      The orthognathic surgeon after looking at his X-ray told that he wants to go for conservative method of treatment.
      Though the fracture is not a hairline one, he said, that my uncle has osteoporosis, and if he does the plating the screws will loosen.
      Also he was not sure that if any wiring can be done as he has no teeth nor does he use dentures. He told that as he has no teeth, it the accuracy of the bone joining is not that much a matter of concern.
      Please let me know if he is getting the right treatment.

    • @5minDENTISTRY
      @5minDENTISTRY  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. From the details and history the treatment is appropriate. Regarding age and osteoporosis, the healing takes time. Be patient and try not to strain the mandible too much. Don't worry friend and Trust your doctor👍🏼👍🏼
