  • Hey there,
Follow along as I make these wooden table top Christmas trees out of scrap wood. I used leftover construction lumber to make the tree frame. I made a couple of jigs to help make the project a little safer and to batch more of these out in the future (they would be great to sell at a craft fair). I made the dowels out of an old fence picket and used some angled cutoffs to make a jig for drilling holes on the drill press. Finally I cut up a discarded tree branch to make the base for the trees. I hope you like this project and maybe make one for yourself.
There are many ways to build and many different methods and tools to use. This video just documents the way I went about this project. I hope this video inspires you to build something and maybe use reclaimed materials as well.
    Take care and stay safe,
    JL

PS - They'd be so gorgeous in a flat black or a flat white!

@@SmittenKitten. I agree. Paint would add another level of beauty, I just didn’t have the time to experiment. I’m glad you like them and I wish good luck to your husband and that pile.

@@JLWoodArtistries They're gorgeous as-is. I really love the idea of handmaking holiday decor because 1) it lasts longer, 2) you can customize them, and 3) creating things with your hands adds something a bit magical. I love that you put time into creating decor, not just furniture as so many other woodworking channels do. Merry Christmas to you and your family!!

@@SmittenKitten. I agree. Especially when you make something as a gift. I love the feeling I get when I surprise someone with a gift and then tell them I made it for them. Thank you again for the compliment. I hope you have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year as well. Take care.

Is it weird that I want to call you the Jig Meister? That's probably a little weird. Let's just forget that I said that and move on. Aaaanyways...I guess what I am trying to say that those are really cool and I appreciate the video. In all seriousness, your work is quite amazing! And don't worry, I'll keep dropping weird comments...you know...for the TH-cam algorithms. 😁
