True LCD panels are hard to find and shipping them can be risky and expensive since they are big and fragile. However phone and laptop screens are sold world wide but shipping is cheap and they can be easily protected in shipping.

I can empathise with your joy at fixing the TV.
I have an Iphone5 that had severe battery issues (It wouldnt hold charge for more than a few hours). I bought a replacement battery on Amazon a few weeks back and was so worried I would break the screen or something else. I finally got round to fitting it in the early hours this morning after watching many many vids on how to remove the screen. Took an hour or so but the relief when you power it back on. Its people like you posting videos on TH-cam that gave me the confidence to do it. Thank you Vince for being an inspiration.

This is more what I do. Great work. The bezel assembly/disassembly for that particular TV is one of the easiest I've seen. I usually end up working on 40-65" sets, so it's more involving with the bezel. Nice work, and it's good to have viewers across the world seeing a need and helping out. Great vid, I expect to see the return of your TV in future videos as it used to be :)

Hi Vince...glad you got it sorted .Welcome to my world.I repair TVs for a living and know the difficulties regarding spares.I just finished replacing the backlights in my own 55" LG 3D TV which involves much more than just a whole screen ...seperating the screens layers and diffusers to expose the backlight/edgelight LEDs is not for the faint hearted.Luckilly I sourced suitable spares from an ebay seller in Spain and for £80 and a weeks work plus lots of sweat and panic & my £1000 TV now works perfectly again.A word of advice DO NOT just bin the old screen ..one day you will neen the screens backlight and those are often just as tricky to source..yours are working so keep hold of them.Rgds Evan

I remember when you posted the original vid, and a month before that I went through the same thing but could never find a replacement screen. Only out stock and discontinued email replies. List price being 1/2 or 1/3 the price of a new tv too 🤦‍♀️ $100-215
Really crappy part I found a working model on eBay for $240 shipped for a 32” tv.

One thing i would salvage from the old screen is the back lights not sure if this is led or cfl lamps but could be worth removing as spares though a bit more of a pain to fit if they fail .I am using a 37 inch tv that i got over a year ago that was dumped panel was broke but found a cheap replacement on ebay £32 posted lg screen only a vestel made set but does what i need and for what the panel cost i have had my moneys worth i use it for dvd ,bluray and netflix and watching youtube using my pc and a bit of web browsing .

I just finished trying to fix my old Sky Q remote control by prying it open with a few picks and a spudger as there were 2 main problems with it.
    1) The play/pause button fell off at some point and wouldn't stick back on again. Come to find out whilst opening the remote up that almost all the buttons were fused onto a rubber pad so that they don't fall off easily, apart from the play/pause button. Overtime the surrounding rubber ripped off and it meant that that button would never stick to the base properly.
    2) The power button needed a lot of force to actually work.
So I cleaned up the buttons and the cases with Flash lemon cleaner and a brush, then I cleaned the conductive pads and the little circuitboard with IPA and it worked! The power button only needed a tiny bit of force to press down.
However to try and fix the button issue I used superglue to stick the button to it's surroundings, but I ended up putting too much onto the conductive pad on the button and even after trying to remove it, the button never worked again. :(
So the remote ended up being recycled but thankfully I already had a replacement easy grip remote at hand.
I would just like to say thanks Vince for all the fix it videos you uploaded. You have given me the confidence to try and repair items and see how they work! :)👍
PS: I also managed to fix my Yamaha keyboard by adding more solder to the power and sustain jack sockets thanks to your fix it videos!🎹

I had a similar issue a few years ago with a 22” Samsung TV with a line down the screen which was due to a faulty panel. It required a replacement Chi- Mei panel and I managed to get a used one off EBay which had came out of a HP all-in-one PC and the type numbers matched. Replacement panel successfully fitted into the Samsung. After all of the faffing about it would have probably been easier and not cost much more to replace the TV outright! It was an enjoyable experience all the same.

I've done the same thing and messed up hours of work and turned it into garbage.
In particular I remember fully repairing at 5 horsepower engine that had a built-in clutch attachment and I finally started it up and was so pleased to see it running flawlessly until catastrophically broke within 20 seconds because I forgotten to put engine oil back into the crankcase.
That would have been less than a dollars worth of oil that I already had on hand and I completely trashed the engine.
I was not a happy camper.
    Haste makes waste!

from what my father said when he worked in Sony back in the 80's/early 90's was the screens cost something like £1,000 each to replace. so way cheaper just to throw the tv away than get a new screen. so unless they were still making the same tv's, then the manufacturer would make a massive loss just making 1 screen, hense they would pass on the charges to the consumer. so it was the main reason why tv's would be thrown rather than repaired. I would have thought that being panels instead of tubes, then replacement would be easier. there again they are made extremely fragile. surprised it managed it the 10,000 miles without any damage though. looks like the insulation worked really well, and the panel wasn't miss handled while in shipping.

Personally, I would mod this TV to have an IEC connector on the back instead of only having a fixed power lead. It's easily done, all you have to do is dremel out a hole big enough to mount the connector in the back panel and connect the included power cable to the backside of the IEC connector.

if you pick the TV up from the back and put your hands only under the plastic piece on the front and on the front a little bit also only on the plastic piece to keep it from getting dropped it shouldn't break again if you need to move it, that is how i carry my 1280x1024 VGA 19 inch HP monitor and it has not broken yet which is good because it's very old so i probably wont be able to find new parts for it too
