That land for the lock is a little telling. Not sure if it was a trick of the camera or not, but it sure looks to me like the milling exposed some porosity. Martensitic maybe?
What a brilliant idea for the locking pin not to have a thread but a ball detent!
The level of play in that lock on the Poppel is honestly terrifying to me. For a blade that heavy and large to move that noticeably under minimal pressure is a massive red flag.
MC, is that fuller on the blade of the 3rd knife accessible for reverse flick by chance? Looks to be covered partially by the scales but almost looks like you can get at it if you get low enough. Thanks for the upload bud.

All that thought behind the design only to come up short on the lock on the poppel is kinda crazy or just got lazy. Thanks for sharing Complex.
It feels like a shortcut they did to get the lock bar working “enough” for a prototype without taking the time to tune it perfectly. Maybe this was more of a “design sample” than a perfectly functional prototype. Just a guess.

Id guess they have to be careful what steel they use just because there is SO MUCH steel required to make one of these. If they went with S90V, the knife would have to cost $2000 for them to make a prifit.
