I'm really happy to see you expand into other tabletop games, especially since 10th ed 40k isn't doing it for me atm and there's so many other cool systems.
Thanks for the different type of content Val! End of the day? I want you to be happy with how you express yourself and your hobbies. You do a lot for the community. Congrats on getting into Boltaction! Hope you have a great time with this!
So cool to see you get into Bolt Action. My first venture into Wargaming was Seaforth Highlanders of Canada infantry force. That was until my friends got me into 40K. But I still have the urge to recreate that army.
I think i’ve seen this guy somewhere else, something in his studio vaguely reminds me of 40k(especially iron warriors), maybe he’s also a fan of warhammer but idk.
Super excited to see this channel and the games you'll cover!!! Do you plan on ever taking a look a battletech?! (Definitely a personal favorite of mine so I guess I may be excited to see lol)
pro tip: once you get the hang of how Bolt Action faction rules works, you can homebrew W40k to Bolt Action (manifesting psychic powers would be a Rally Order and Charge, rather than being all or nothing, would have the losing unit be forced to Run away from the winner). I would recommend checking out Konflikt '47 next. It is based on Bolt Action 2nd Edition, rather than 3rd, but it pretty much have space marines on them, which would also help with homebrewing 40k to Bolt Action
Saw you at the Open Day BAv3 Launch, must admit I was surprised. I'll be one of your 'cross over' subscribers. Man I've played 40k since '87 and right now the game is just not for me. Even with nearly 40 years playing it I also felt that Index period 8th ed was it's peak. That short era was such an open game, it was about flanks and tactics, it was quite sublime, right up until codex's came along to screw it. I found Bolt Action before 9th ed 40k released and it got me straight away. It's a really open game where the special rules are special, and therefore manageably small in number, it promotes tactics, pushing flanks and having fun. Now I play quite a bunch of miniature wargames (gaslands, What a Cowboy, Judge Dredd and many more), my hobby life is much improved. I'm still hopeful for a good Kill Team ed, lol. Can't get the 40k out of me, when I'm not playing I'm still collecting, jeeeze.
Got four armor vehicles for my Italian force currently, and waiting for one more on the way. I am looking forward to some italian play with them. In addition, gonna see about making a Thai Royal Police partisans force.
So 🇫🇮 IS Best faction💪 Historical accuracy! 😊 ONLY problem is that there is no Bolt Action players here in 🇫🇮... Hobby shops are not selling or are very rarely selling BA 🤔
How many videos until desert rak gets blacklisted by other companies. LOL BTW look into a game called This Quar's War. It is becoming fairly popular in recent months. Good to see you branching out
The Axis Support rule has really been nerfed, whether by design or just happenstance. A Romanian or Hungarian player must pay a tax of two local core units before purchasing the Axis support. Thus wouldn’t be bad if the choices weren’t so horrid, the Romanian army pdf only gives the Romanian player a choice between a single MG armed tankette or the open topped TACAM. Gone are the multiple historically correct AFVs they used. Plus the Romanians lost their mountain troops (with field craft), their pioneer squads, and their 251 half track transport options (again, all historical and in v 2) Sad neglect of many minor nations Good video none the less Thank!
I have a Romanian army and am unfortunately a bit disappointed by the new PDFs. The army special rules are fine, I appreciate that they're moving away from "you get a free unit" type special rules in the new edition because they were pretty bland. On the other hand though, the units we have for 3rd edition are pretty woeful. Losing access to squads with 4 SMGs, as well as the elite mountaineers is certainly a blow, but on top of that they don't seem to have included any of the vehicles from 2nd edition supplements such as my favourite R1 tankettes or TACAM R-2 tank destroyers. I'm keen to see how 3rd edition plays, but will probably wait it out for a while and continue on with 2nd edition until some more supplements come out. If I do dip into 3rd edition it will most likely be with my French force which seem to have retained a lot more of their unit options.
@@ValrakGaming I understand that, but with the timeline they put out the Armies of Italy and the Axis book is unlikely to be out until at least mid 2026. It’s like playing index 40k if half the units just plain weren’t in the index. I think for now I’ll just stick with the old edition until the minor nations are more fleshed out as I don’t have any majors… well aside from the officer model I have ;)
Play a lot of minor powers , the Romanians have had a rough deal, lost their best infantry units and the only 2 decent tank they had access to 😕. Seems any FAQ updates have been ditched along with any units added in campaign books which is a shame. The phrase ‘get you by ‘ implies a few months not 2+ years.
@@deccabw This pretty much sums it up, we understand they are temporary but it is going to be a looooong temporary. The new rules basically add nothing and take away most of what they had, it's not a favourable comparison.
So many of these rules are just lazy. Half of the countries have cut and paste rules from others. In absence of a full proper line of unique sculpts and units this is the best way to add literally any flavour at all to a faction. Massive missed opportunity there tbh.
Wooow what a downgrade for france and the minor factions 😢 they loose their unique rules and changue them for worsened versions of it I think the artillery and air observer are the worst units in the game flavor whise: a unit that *roleplays* an attack on the battlefield and kills a lot of units. Its frustrating to remove so quickly those minis you spent so much time and effort to make just from a model that is not on the table (artillery pieces or planes)
THE DESERT RAK! Great video mate :)
Yeah baby! Good to see you giving him a warm welcome :D
I hope Valrak can see through MG's false pleasantries and realise there is Great Beef a-brewing!

I'm really happy to see you expand into other tabletop games, especially since 10th ed 40k isn't doing it for me atm and there's so many other cool systems.
Love 40k! But Sold a bunch of it to go deeper into Bolt Action, Konflikt 47, Marvel Crisis Protocol and A Song of Ice and Fire!
Thanks for the different type of content Val!

Congrats on getting into Boltaction! Hope you have a great time with this!
You're the best!
Jesus. If he puts out a video on the main channel that'll be 14 minutes of work today
So happy to see you expand into other games! I love your content, so more of it is always great!
And very nice to see smaller factions on BA!
Here we go!!! I'm look forward to this. I can't wait to journey into some new systems and make some epic terrain !!
Glad you are doing another channel, should check out HH proper tho before leaving totally. Great community and better rules
So excited for this new channel. Since meeting you at WG Open can't wait
@@matthewbeale1379 will be a fun adventure

Brilliant to see you covering other games. Please bring that same humour over this Chanel although Rumour Rat is going to be a challenge
It's good to see you stepping outside your comfort zone.looking forward to seeing the eighth army👍
Hearing Valrak talk about historical rules is so hilarious and I don’t know why!
Dessert Rak baking channel incoming
Good luck in your new journey! I love seeing 40k folks move into historicals.
Happy to have you on board i cant wait to see more !

I can seldom find people to play non GW games with, so Im excited for your new channel to keep interested in historicals!

What, no Bolt Action room for the Bolt Action videos? Love to see you still grow! Keep the scams up
Very cool. And of course Valrak starts with his native France 🇫🇷
Last time he lets me write the script 🥖

Will you cover One page rules?
Literally just found this . New Subscriber!!
Leave it up to Valrak to name the channel after his favorite meal time.
Can't wait for the new content! I'm desperate to see the A Song of Ice and Fire miniatures game if it's one that interests you!
Yes! I'm jumping into bolt action in the spring.
Luv this idea to look into other games and maybe even how you paint other than yellow like an army show case for other games
what is this a crossover episode!. Love this
Nice, just subbed. Any Italy Bros? Think that will be my next Bolt Action adventure.
This feels very wierd.

Bolt action is great think more games need alternate activation units
Amen
Waiting 25 minutes while your opponent does his turn is not fun.
I'm thinking of delving into this just for the Dad's Army miniatures

Who else just red the rules while the video was on pause in the right time?
good presentation, thanks. Subscribed.
The Finnish army is a great army to collect and play. Lots of great looking minis available and you can fight both the Allies and Axis!
Now you can learn rules from the man who gave all his black templars a 3+ feel no pain.
Hell yes, it’s a good time to diversify
Since it's nonWh40 Val channel it should've been called OrdinaryBlokeValrak
Mighty Desertrak,
