So happy to see they convinced him to run an 800m. It shows his coaching team really know what they're doing. He needs that strength to run multiple rounds and as you can see he is capable of at least 1:48.
@@wisforwinner 1:46.45 is the hs national record. Aside from the shotput and Hobbs's 1500m, its widely considered the best standing hs national record hence why its stood since 1996 even in the supershoe era. However, I think if Wilson wanted to, he could break it. He's probably better suited for the 400 however.
@@b.vancevancerefrigeration4761 I think he's well suited for the 400 as well. Yet, while they are moving him up in strength, he might as well put the hs 800m record out there as a challenge. I think you know that training at a new distance to improve your meat n drink event (400m), can be a drag without an appropriate challenge. I was thinking if he wants to go to trails this summer or be in the relay pool for Paris 24, he will have to be hitting the low 40's in the 400 or 52/53 split for 800. Point is the hs 800 nr target will do wonders for his open 400 potential. Btw, you can see he's a bit tight in the 800, he needs so much practice at setting up that distance. He'll get it down.
I was a mile (1600)/two-miler (3200) in high school, school records in both. I also anchored our school record / county record 4x800m relay. When we won the county meet it came down to two team race, stride for stride to the last step: 54 seconds and 65 seconds for a 1:59 split. Lol.
@@fitlifestylebiggainzhe’s saying that he ran very similar 400m splits, so he ran consistently and efficiently so that he wouldn’t be in a ton of pain from the lactic at the end
The kid that got second ran the 800m just fine, he ran a 1:51 which is blazing fast and way better than most the high school 800m runners out there. In college, he's going to have to run a 52 second first lap in order to medal at big meets, so he better get use to it. And on the world stage, he's going to have to run a 50 second first lap if he want a shot at the world record.
I can’t help with smile when I see Wilson Ron. My last name is Wilson and I used to run with my head up just like that.! my coach used to tell me if I could learn to put my head down I would get another 10th of a second faster! It’s a habit and a style that sometimes you just can’t break but in this situation you want anyway

Talk about it, man! I’m from PA as well. Won’t 100m states two years in a row. Senior year, ran 10.52, which if anyone knows, in PA with our weather, being crappy well into late April, is not bad at all. I want to Golden West invitationals, the premier High School even back in those days. I came in 5th running 10.41. The winner ran a 10.28. That was 1989. Now days, these high schoolers are basically practicing in the 10.5 range. There are so many kids running 10.1’s, where as in my day, you may find maybe 3-4 nationally running that. It’s amazing and exciting. Each generation gets stronger
Extremely talented young man. I think the coach needs to lessen his work load so he will have something in the tank for the Olympic Trials. He deserves a chance to represent the Red, White and Blue in Paris....
how is his endurance that good? i tried doing just 200/400 training with a moderate amount of 800 training but still died 500m in bc i STILL didn’t have enough endurance
It’s great for him - strength/endurance training. If this guy stays healthy I think he should just go pro, guys running top collegiate times as a HS sophomore.
@@JimmyKim-fb1jiwell it was an all out 800 who wouldn’t be gassed. You go all out your gonna be gassed. He’d obv have to pace himself way better so I’d say a 4:20-4:45 for him in a mile but with the pace he had if he were to somehow keep that pace it’d be a world record

He kicked butt! Great quarter milers should be able to run really good 800m, and Quincy showed he can!
This young man is ridiculous 🔥🔥🔥
wilson's form much improved from when he first showed up in my feeds...he did very so well so did his running mate
Absolutely LOVE this baby, he is so gifted and talented

This is amazing
I hope this kid grows another 2 inches because he is exciting to watch. Great job.

Could he be better than Emmanuel Korir (44.21/1.42.05) as a 400/800m guy?!
400 yes 800 no
Do you know Rudisha had a 45 second pb
Depends is 43.5/1.45 better?
He's strength is impressive if he decide to become good at the 800 I see a sub 1.45 soon
Sub 110 seconds loading…
Different type of speed! 😮

Bro, guys runs a 21 (20.xx split?)/45/1:50 200/400/800 never seen that from a sophomore. Guys all around class.
He qualified for 400m Olympic trials, he ran like a sub 45.2 which is insane idk why he is running the 800m tho

Bro looked like he was jogging😭
Faster than both Donavan Brazier and Bryce Hoppel at the same age. Also faster than 10th grade Kenny Bednarek in the 200. What a beast.
WOW!!!
College coach going to correct his form and this kid will be USA’s top 400M runner.
THEY DONT' DO THAT IN SPRINTING. THEIR FORM IS THEIR FORM
Who runs a 1:50 800 and doesn't even know how to run an 800?!?!? How Sway???
What spike did he use?
1:39 bro what happened
