When Muswell Hillbillies came out, they wouldn't play this in concert for a long time, but the song's impact great over the years as it proved to be totally true - even going into the 21st century. This is practically a "Baby Boomers Anthem", for all the great songs that Ray has written, this is my favorite and possibly his best. "God Save the Queen"
I can't imagine my life without The Kinks 🎶🙏
Prophetic lyrics… & it still rocks!
Ray will always be eternal & relevant.

This is not meant as a put down of any one else, but Ray Davies has gotten better with age compared to a lot of other musicians of his era.
Totally agree.
Righto. Pure genius. Rock and roll is not Beethoven. But, Ray Davies make a case for rock being genuine poetry and art and god damn rock and roll.
Sometimes Rock is just so friggin perfect! 66 years old and I feel like I'm young again.
My favorite song !!!!
Beautiful
Fantastic amazing tune. Great performance. A few gormless looking lads in that crowd, mind. hehe
Yeah, I was there.
I would threaten to beat Ray up too if he cut this song from Muswell Hillbillies!! Without a doubt one of the best Kinks songs.
good live version
great live version for me.
Amazing lyrics. Consider myself a 20th century man.
