This young man is such an asset to the John Deere Community and contributes an enormous amount of value to the ownership experience. Thank you so much Mr. Brent. There is no telling how many pieces of equipment and accessories have been sold as a result of your videos! They are a true blessing to all of us!
Glad to see I’m not the only one who struggles with attaching that front clip of the chute to the mower deck. I actually have to use a long screwdriver with the deck as leverage to pull it Over because of my carpal tunnel syndrome. It scratches the paint a bit but gets ‘er done! Thanks for these videos. I’m in NJ and my local Deere dealer (Central Jersey Equipment) doesn’t provide these videos but they’re great for someone who’s just learning how to do all this stuff herself. 👍
I have had my S240 for about 2 years. Last fall, I took the bagger tube and bags off for a quick mowing and since I usually will do my first spring mow without the bags, I left them off. I just spent about 20 minutes trying to get the tube back on and finally gave up. After watching this video, I realized I was doing it backwards. Tried to put just the bottom tube starting from the rear and could not get the front pin even close to the hole. I also was also unsure as to which holes to put the clips into. This was a huge help. Thank you
Once I put the bagger on for leaves in the fall, I leave it on until leaf cleanup is done. I live in the NJ Pinelands on a heavily wooded lot and this is a lifesaver for that purpose. Dump the leaves curbside and the township comes to suck them up!
The first video I've seen that really shows every step clearly. Nice job, Thanks! I've had my bagger system for 12 years (10 yrs with a JD-L110 and now the same one on my JD-E130) Always a struggle to get the lower chute on for a 74 yr old man.
Just purchased a s240 John Deere, 42 inch deck, read the manual front and back. I really started to learn how to operate and learn future maintenance procedures by watching your great videos. Not only how to install the bagger, mulch kit, and getting the home maintenance kit. Thanks to you I now feel comfortable enough to properly care for this investment. Thanks again
This is a great video! I picked up a used bagger system and this was very helpful in figuring out how everything goes together. I wasn't 100% sure that I had a match, but indeed I do!
Great video Brent! Awesome! Can't believe how easy that was to install! Thanks for for everything that you do, and for the great information you give us! Thanks for sharing! Have a great and awesome day!
Well I’m glad I could help! Hopefully you can get someone to help you out with the blade change because it will be a lot more difficult than this install. Thank you for watching!
Aloha Brent, Another awesome video! Good gift of teaching. Comprehensive explanations and great filming techniques with vivid lighting! Keep up the good work.
Guy gave me one he never used and an old mower to go with it. I figured most of it out before google and TH-cam helped on a couple unknown areas of concern. Like where does this pencil sized rod go (locks 2 bars in place on back of tractor ) and where the bottom 2 straps attach to deck. Think I got it good enough even if the strap attachment points are not identical to what's in the video. Can't lose for the money. Lol Time to put some green slime in 2 flat tires on the tractor and fill with fresh gas. Be mowing before we know it.
I currently have mulching blades on my John Deere. If I decide to bag leaves or high grass do I have to change the blades to the 3 in 1 blade that came with my tractor?
Very informative video. I have an JD E110...If I add a bagger installed how wide will it be. My gate opening is 44 1/2 inches wide. Will I have enough space? Thank You.
I felt completely intimidated to change the blades on my E160 and you made the process SO easy, thank you! Question for you on operating the bagger: We just moved into a new home in WI and the yard has been ignored for years. I dethatched the yard and was using my bagger to pick everything up but it was DUSTY. Dust literally everywhere, it was hard to see while mowing & the little clear window to see how full the bags were was impossible to see through. Am i doing something wrong? Were my blades to low? Was it because the yard was just really dry this week? it didn't feel right. At this point I wish i got the lawn sweeper, it looks much cleaner
I am so glad I could help. On the question, I don't think you were doing anything wrong. When you go and dethatch a yard you have to remember that you may be bringing months of compost to the top of the grass so having a large amount of dust would be normal. I think this will get better now that you have the first round out of the way.
you have some of the best videos of john deere products. i just bought the new 2021, S240, and realize that this bagger system BUC10284 does not fit as others have noted. surprisingly john deere is still selling this combination as being compatible and the salesperson is not very useful. What is the solution, is there a new bagging system available, where can i buy and whats the serial number for it. thanks in advance
Thank you and the BUC10284 would be correct if your deck was the Edge Cutting System which was on some of the previous models of the S240. Now in 2021 the 42" deck is an Accel Deep deck and it would require BUC10907 but I think they are still waiting on inventory for these to be built. I hope this helps and thanks for watching!
Everything seems exactly the same on my d140 except for the attachment points for the chute. The hole for the rod to slide into is there but nothing in place to put the strap hooks through. Got this a couple weeks ago and previous owner never used the bagger. Did theses come with another strap or something in the past to attach the lower chute to the deck?
Disappointing….. my Lt133 was 21 years old and the quality of chute was better than new ones .. now I’m going to tackle removing the quick oil change system back to normal as this system is a joke .. doesn’t remove all oil and is way too expensive for the new canister.. John Deere is going to lose customers if they keep compromising quality. Thanks
Thanks for the tips. I have a newer mower, do I have to change the blade for this bagging system to work properly? Love the videos! New subscriber. Enjoying the help.
Can regular tow accessories (poly cart, lawn sweeper, de-thatcher etc) be attached to the mower with the collection bags removed (without having to remove the entire bagger assembly)?
I’m putting this on a 2022 S130. Everything in your video is the same until the lower chute. The discharge chute hs two deflectors in it. The lowest one prevents the bagger chute from installing properly. I had to remove the deflector completely to get the bagger to fit. Can you advise me how to do this correctly?
The tube on the bagger should be able to be raised so that you can install the lower tube to the deck. If it will not for some reason the removing it will be ok.
If you can recommend a different kit maybe for my Scott that would be great I'm trying to get one this machine is pretty old but it still works really well.
I just put new gator blades on my E-130. And have now decided to put a bagger on it. Will the new gator blades work the same as the blades that come with the bagger? Is so, I’ll just leave the gators on for now. Thank You
So with the gator blades your might not collect all of the clippings but you will get the majority. I would try them out with the bagger and see how you feel about them. If the lawn isn’t as clean as you would like then swap them for the blades that come with the bagger. Good luck and thanks for watching!
@@WesternEquipment thank you for the fast reply! I’m impressed with your videos. I don’t suppose you know how wide it gets after putting the bagger on? I’m sure my garage door is big enough, just wondering how tight it’s going to be.
No, this will not fit. The kit you could need is a BUC10911. It will contain the blower, the chute, and the hopper and bags assembly. If you are needing this part make sure to check us out at 247Parts.com and reach out to our customer service team if you do not see the part on the site. Thank you and thanks for watching!
The new number is BUC10284 but check both of those numbers with 247parts.com and you may call them to see if they have any in stock. I hope this helps and thanks for watching!
What’s the difference between the BG20776 ($385) and the BUC10284 ($500) other than $115? They look the same, and they’re both 6.5 bushel. The BUC10284 recommends front ballast. How is that done? Thanks!
I have a new S240 with the kawasaki motor and my 42" deck is different than this one. I purchased the bagger and everything fits except where the chute ties into the side of the deck at the end? Do I have the wrong one or is there some weird special version that I need to purchase?
The new S240's changed from the Edge Deck to the AccelDeep Deck. I would just look into swapping the lower tubes. Everything Else will be the same. Good question and thanks for watching!
I purchased a new S240 lawn tractor and John Deere changed the deck design on the 42" deck. Do you have instructions on installing the rear bagger for the new design? The part number is BUC10907.
Hello Rich. I tried to get in touch with you but check out this video ( th-cam.com/video/knVKAaZo6AM/w-d-xo.html ) for info on how to install your hopper assembly. Unfortunately I do not have a video of how to install the lower chute portion but there should be instructions with your bagger kit for that part. Thanks for watching!
I wish I had an answer for you on this and I know that it is very frustrating. Deere is working hard on getting caught up from inventory shortages due to the pandemic and other issues, so I'm hoping to see this fixed soon. Thanks for reaching out and thanks for watching!
Can you order just the bags with the bag frame? I found the bags, but I actually need the metal frames too. I have everything else. Please let me know. Thank you
Thank you! No this one will not since the 2021 S240's all have the Accel Deep Deck. As far as I know the bagger for these mowers is still not available from John Deere. But here is the part number for the 42" deck, BUC10907. Thanks for watching!
I noticed you installed it with the Deck up off the ground , now when you drop the deck too mow how is it going too lower with the tubes in place being that they're stationary from the hopper to the deck , obviously you can't raise and lower the deck with the tubes attached , how does that work ??
Since the upper tube slides into the hopper without any restraints holding it in place, it can slide in and out of the hopper as the deck raises and lowers. It works very well with no issues there.
It should say on the bagger kit which models it fits. For the Z345R you need the kit that comes with the bumper and weight kit so I’m not sure if Home Depot carries that one or not. Good question and if you can’t find it at Home Depot, check us out at 247Parts.com. Thanks for watching!
Does the regular blade really need to be changed out with the new bagger blade? I know it will work better with the required blade, but how will it work leaving on the existing blade?
Good question. This is sort of up for interpretation from the customer. Some seem to think it works great and others say you absolutely have to change the blade. I think it really depends on your mowing conditions (grass type, climate, etc.). I wish I had a more solid answer but I would suggest just trying both out and see what you think. Thanks for watching!
great vid, thank you! Question; would it be a pain to take that chute off after each use? I have a 59" shed opening and that looks a little tight when attached!
@@JeffMillerCreative Congrats on the new mower. I have about 57” of clearance to n my shed doors. I’m curious if you got your mower bagger set up yet and if it fits in your 59” shed opening? Thanks!
@@briarklehr1971 I’m getting my mower and bagger attachment this week. I’ll let everyone know what the exact width is. My fence has a 59in opening so fingers crossed this attachment does but exceed that.
I think the high lift blades are a good idea if you're going to be bagging more often than not. The extra suction and air flow that these blades produce is very helpful in pushing material to the bags.
@@WesternEquipment Thanks again. Another couple of questions have come up as I look for my first rider, that is, the value of a sweeper in lieu of a bagging system. A pro seems to be the ability to collect more debris than just clippings. (A con is more difficulty collecting grass clippings in plastic bags if not saving for compost). Thoughts? And a minor one - do riders' weight compact your soil, perhaps resulting in a need to aerate more often?
Thanks for doing these videos! Dumb question, will this bagger kit fit the newer 2021 S240 with the 42” Accel Deep deck? If so what’s the model number? Thank you!!!
@@kylenielsen4071 I have a new S220 with Mulch Control installed. I just installed the bagger (BUC10907) which was a pain in the butt. You can install it with the mulch kit, (sort of). I did have to remove part of the mulch kit to make the bagger work. The instructions were sub par. A lot of trial and error. Good luck
Wondering if an S120 with bagger would fit through my gate? The S120 with the deflector in the up position is 43.5", and my gate opening is 45". How wide is the tractor with the bagger assembly?
It will be a bit wider that 45" but you could always just take the tubes loose while going through your gate and then easily put them back on. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching!
Yes, it is recommended. Simply so you have a blade on that has more lift/suction to better throw the clippings back into the bags. Great question and thanks for watching!
It is best to change you blades to the ones that a re sent with your bagger because they are high lift blades. They help to create more air flow and suction to help send the grass back into the hopper. Good question and thanks for watching!
60-65in 😟. My max is 59. Bummer. Guess I’ll need to take on and off. I’ll be sure to report back on the exact width. Getting both my S110 mower and bagger this week. This is gonna be a huge upgrade to my 20in walk mower. Lol.
No, you will need to look for the BG20755 but we are currently out of inventory at 247parts.com and John Deere is having issues with inventory as well. I hope this helps and thank you for watching!
@@dropped3540 I can't get an answer on when the correct parts will be available. I bought this Machine inorder to bag my cuttings and now I can't! I was lead to believe I could use these attatchment. I disappointed about this.
I don't think the LT series mowers have the right hookups at the rear to make this bagger work. You would need the CargO mount system. But if you're needing a bagger get in touch with 247Parts.com and they should be able to help you find one. Thanks for watching!
No unfortunately it is very model specific on the baggers. It has to be a bagger made specifically for the 42" deck to work. Good question and thanks for watching!
Yes there is bagger kits for the X300 series but this one will not fit those machines. Depending on what size of deck you may need to power flow attachment. Let me know if I can help further. Thanks for watching!
I do not have a review but I would say you just have to be mindful of your grass conditions when using a bagger that is not equipped with a blower. Too damp and you could see issues since you don't have a blower creating a second source of air flow.
One thing that would be helpful is to give more detail about how the parts fit together. When I installed my bagger, installing the hopper and hanging the bags were the easy part, about two minutes, yet over two-thirds of the video was devoted to that. The lower chute is the really tricky part, it has to be at just exactly the correct angle and curvature to get the pin through the hole and get the lip to sit down in the rim of the discharge chute, and the straps connected to the frame (it was also the step he had the most trouble with), yet less than two minutes devote to it and part of the time his hand was blocking the camera so you can't see which part of the clip goes into the hole and at what angle. I'm sure he's very knowledgeable but for the customer who's never installed a bagger before, this vid doesn't give enough audio or video detail about the tricky parts of the install.
This assembly in my opinion is poorly designed , the tubes don't line up perfectly from hopper too deck , no matter how I twisted and turned the 2 tubes together they would not line up perfectly from deck of I hopper , there's a slight bend ( load) in the tube from deck to hopper , making the hopper lid sit slightly crooked , , I thought it was the 2 tabs that go in the tow plate thinking I put them in the wrong set of slots , nope too the right like it said in the manual , no explanation except poor design not fine tuned with the connecting sections !!!
You technically don't have to but the blades that come with the bagger are high lift blades which will help with creating more airflow to hep push the grass back to the hopper so I highly recommend changing the blades. Good question and thanks for watching!
No, that is up to you. The blades that come with the bagger are designed to create more suction to help with pushing grass back to the back, but you can back with the standard blades to. Thanks for watching!
Yes but it now has a new number and is a tool-less install design with a better rear hopper. Here is a link to our site for the new one parts.west-equip.com/john-deere-bagger-kit-for-e100s-s100s-and-s240-with-42-edge-deck-buc10284/.

Thank you! No this one will not since the 2021 S240's all have the Accel Deep Deck. As far as I know the bagger for these mowers is still not available from John Deere. But here is the part number for the 42" deck, BUC10907. Thanks for watching!
Borrowed a mower, was too stupid to figure out how to reinstall the bagger. Thanks!!!!!
Not too stupid, we all need a little guidance sometimes haha! Glad I could help!
Great video. In my humble opinion, the design for the tube-to-mower connection is a total joke and a ridiculous pain to detach and reattach.
I agree that it is not easy to hook up. I wish it had a different design too.
@@WesternEquipment ok I see , thanks
Hello, will the grass Cather kit from Home Depot work on a 42 - Z345?
It should say on the bagger kit which models it fits. For the Z345R you need the kit that comes with the bumper and weight kit so I’m not sure if Home Depot carries that one or not. Good question and if you can’t find it at Home Depot, check us out at 247Parts.com. Thanks for watching!
What is the part number for the bagger that fits the JDS170 48”deck
You had the metal plate already up in your video step 6; how do you get that plate to go up and stay so I can get the bottom chute put on mower?
Sorry about that, you just have to pull out and up to get it to lock into place. Thanks for watching!
Does this model fit thr deep excel.deck on the s240? I think the dealer sold me the wrong bagger
Thanks for the help mate!
Glad I could help and thanks for watching!
Hello, do you really need those blades or would it work fine without them? Thank you
Should you remove the chutes that come with tractor because the Shute seems to want to come out if groove
You can remove the chute but it is not necessary. This is totally a customer preference in my opinion. Good question and thanks for watching!
Do they service the mounting kit separately?
great vid, thank you! Question; would it be a pain to take that chute off after each use? I have a 59" shed opening and that looks a little tight when attached!
No, it's not bad at all to take it off. Takes maybe a minute or two. Great question and thanks for watching!
@@WesternEquipment thanks again, and thanks for the reply! My S120 and the bagger are ordered, I've unlocked a key midlife achievement!
What was the verdict on this? What is the overall width with the bagger installed? My fence opening is 58"
Thanks Brent. What are your thoughts on needing bagging blades as opposed to stock?
No this bagger is designed foe the Edge Cutting System decks that come on older S240's and 100 series mowers. Thanks for watching!
Which bagger fits the s40 with accel deep deck? Will it work if the mulch control kit is installed?
Great video Brent! I am currently running mulching blades on an E100. Is it recommended to switch blades?
Yes, it is recommended. Simply so you have a blade on that has more lift/suction to better throw the clippings back into the bags. Great question and thanks for watching!
@@WesternEquipment Thank you for the reply.
My Jd L110 is 16 years old. Would this bagger work?
Brent, I recently purchased the S120. Question. Is it necessary to swap out the blades to run the mower with a bagger? Pros and cons ?
It is best to change you blades to the ones that a re sent with your bagger because they are high lift blades. They help to create more air flow and suction to help send the grass back into the hopper. Good question and thanks for watching!
@@WesternEquipment Thanks
How do you replace the bags when they get holes in them? I can't figure out what tools I need.
Great video. One problem. I needed to know how to get the metal flap up! You had yours clamped with vice grips 😢
You should be able to pull out and then flip it up to keep it out of your way
Does anybody know what is the total width with this kit installed? I have a small gate :-( Can't find it online. Thank you!!
I am working on trying to get this exact measurement for you. Thanks for watching!
What is the total width of mower with bagger installed?
Great question! I will have to get one of these back installed and then measure for you but I think you will be around 60"-65".
60-65in 😟. My max is 59. Bummer. Guess I’ll need to take on and off. I’ll be sure to report back on the exact width. Getting both my S110 mower and bagger this week. This is gonna be a huge upgrade to my 20in walk mower. Lol.
I have a L111. Pin doesn’t line up and I don’t have a groove around the deck for the chute to sit in…? How do I install this thing 😢
looking for the rear bagger kit for my new s100. Do you sell them for shipping?

Will it fit onto a Scott's 16hp 42" deck
Good question. I will have to do some research on this but I would imagine not.
Great video - thank you!
Thank you and thanks for watching!
Much easier watching the video than trying to read the manual. Any idea what the purpose of the hopper screen is? What it's function is in the setup?
Thank you and it is mainly to keep larger debris (trash, sticks, etc.) from collecting into your clippings. Thanks for watching!
Tip: You don't need to remove the deck to change the blades. Raise deck all the way up. Get them from underneath. Just did mine today.
This is true, we just like to show the whole process for safety and incase someone were ever needing to remove the deck. Thanks for watching
I have a Zero turn with 42 deck will this fit? I have the z335m
No, you will need to look for the BG20755 but we are currently out of inventory at 247parts.com and John Deere is having issues with inventory as well. I hope this helps and thank you for watching!
@@WesternEquipment I appreciate it
Very good video. Thank you. Do you also send this Bagger kit to Paraguay?
We may be able to do that.
I have a 2021 S240 with a 42" deck. That bagger will not fit my deck. So my deck has a flat looking opening, qhat bagger system will fit it?
What are the last 6 digits of your serial number on your S240?
@@WesternEquipment Hey thanks for replying, my numbers are 883931.
I think my deck part number is BUC10094
I just bought the same mower 2021 s240 and this exact bagger along with the mulching kit and neither one fit my mower
@@dropped3540 I can't get an answer on when the correct parts will be available. I bought this Machine inorder to bag my cuttings and now I can't! I was lead to believe I could use these attatchment. I disappointed about this.
could I make this work on a John deer lt160
I don't think the LT series mowers have the right hookups at the rear to make this bagger work. You would need the CargO mount system. But if you're needing a bagger get in touch with 247Parts.com and they should be able to help you find one. Thanks for watching!
Will this kit work on a 2021 S240 with the 42" Accel deck?
No this is for an edge deck. The kit needed for the S240 with an Accel Deep is number BUC10907.
@@WesternEquipment thank you so much!
Will the 48" bagger work with an E110 with a 42" deck?
No unfortunately it is very model specific on the baggers. It has to be a bagger made specifically for the 42" deck to work. Good question and thanks for watching!
Can you get one of these for a John Deere X380?
Yes there is bagger kits for the X300 series but this one will not fit those machines. Depending on what size of deck you may need to power flow attachment. Let me know if I can help further. Thanks for watching!
Appreciate...will it fit the accel deep 42?
No it will not. This is only for the Edge Cutting System deck. Thanks for watching!

It’s not too bad actually, but I funnel makes things much easier. Thanks for watching!
Thank you very much!
Thank you for watching!
Does it clog? Do you have a video review? I didn't see it on your channel.
I do not have a review but I would say you just have to be mindful of your grass conditions when using a bagger that is not equipped with a blower. Too damp and you could see issues since you don't have a blower creating a second source of air flow.
This is also same bag for the s130 right?
How do you contact this gentleman? I still can't get the chute on.
Which part are you stuck on?
I can't get the last step attached. Mines is a little different than what he discussed.

Does this fit an E140?
48" deck
Do you think this will fit on 2002 Sabre
I honestly do not know for sure but I am doubtful.

@@WesternEquipment bagger kit works all I had to do is drill hole for chute pin
I completely agree and will do better on the next bagger install. Thank you for the feedback and thanks for watching!
@@WesternEquipment Thank you for your reply. I appreciate your taking the feedback in the helpful spirit in which it was intended.
Got a newer one I guess. Bags done have the clips they just slide in. But the hopper won’t close all the way
Yes the new models are upgraded. I have a video over it on my other channel, 247Parts if you want to check it out. Thanks for watching!
How wide is the s240 42” with bagger.
It should be no wider than deck with the deflector flipped down, so it should be right around 50". I hope this helps and thanks for watching!
Do you haft to change the blade to use the bagger ?
You technically don't have to but the blades that come with the bagger are high lift blades which will help with creating more airflow to hep push the grass back to the hopper so I highly recommend changing the blades. Good question and thanks for watching!
Will this work on the S220
Is this the same install for S120?
Yes it is. Thanks for watching!
Do the blades have to change?
No, that is up to you. The blades that come with the bagger are designed to create more suction to help with pushing grass back to the back, but you can back with the standard blades to. Thanks for watching!
This will fit the s130 series?
Yes but it now has a new number and is a tool-less install design with a better rear hopper. Here is a link to our site for the new one parts.west-equip.com/john-deere-bagger-kit-for-e100s-s100s-and-s240-with-42-edge-deck-buc10284/.
