Kia Ora Viewers! This sample itinerary video is the first one of a new series we will release over the coming weeks and months. From your point of view is there anything missing? Do we need to add anything? Is too much detail? Your thoughts and feedback is much appreciated.
In booking my trip I learned a lot of hotels in NZ have a minimum of 2 nights per stay, something to keep in mind. I used Apex for my rental so I could take the ferry as the scenery on the ferry ride came highly recommended despite the added time it takes, I hope they're right!
There are options for some Intercity coach connections and one or two trains, but especially in the South Island you would need to plan this out carefully to get the maximum time efficiently. If you short on time a domestic flight will make a big difference to connect North & South Island’s. Often coaches and trains are running once a day. Hope this helps!
Firstly it's highly unlikely you will see Kiwi birds in the wild. So, the best place to see those nocturnal friends will be at Kiwi 'night houses' along the route in Otorohanga, Rotorua, Hokitika, Franz Josef or Queenstown. So, you will have a few options to work this into your schedule. I put a few links into the pdf too. Hope this helps!
How many hours of driving is involved to do this itinerary? I don't like the idea of flying for 20 hours to then drive 4 hours a day. Seems like you need a month of vacation to really take your time in NZ and not get burnt out.
Driving in NZ is mostly different than in the US or Europe (only around Auckland you have heavy traffic and highways). Especially in the South Island we have highly scenic road. When you have a 4-5 driving day (which you will need to expect between most locations), you actually don't drive through. You drive for 30-60 min, have a stop, do a walk, take a picture, see a sight etc and then move on. So, don't take the 4-5 hours as too much of a challenge; it's not at all. NZ - especially the South Island - is a 'Self-drive Paradise'. Hope this helps 😀
Best would be to check out the 10 Days North & South Island video at th-cam.com/video/J7iS97eQcLo/w-d-xo.html Check also the details in the description box. This will give you a great head start for your planning. Enjoy!

Which ia the best month to travel to newzealand from india ?
The best time to travel NZ is between Oct and April/May. Does not matter from where. See details at th-cam.com/video/S9EYOIgRUjE/w-d-xo.html
What if don't want to drive (from NA)? Is train or coach bus better?

If I plan my trip almost exactly like in this video, where and when would you recommend going to see kiwi birds?

How about Mt Cook?
Yes, good idea, but you either need more time or take something else out. So much to do and see in NZ 😃
