I am addicted. I have seen the entire series twice. On top of that I keep watching different episodes. The acting is superb. Ruyi and Hailan are my favorite characters. The emperor Is ruthless and at the same time trapped in his role so he is heartless to Ruyi. Actors must be very good to make you either like them or hate them. Those that bring out that hatred are the first empress, Jia and of course Ling. A’ruo is a sad character. Whoever was the casting director was so right in choosing roles. The dowager empress personified the true power in the Forbidden City. She was however fair at the end. I can’t name them all because every single character was fantastic. Just love, love, this serialized drama.
Empresses in the Palace was the story of the Dowager. She was like Ruyi when she was first selected as a concubine, but unlike Ruyi, she eventually embraced the power struggles and palace intrigues in order to survive in the harem. She had the ultimate power in the palace but at a cost that Ruyi refused to pay.

This is the kind of friendship that I wish I could have the best girlfriend and we would just get two peas in a pot and we would look after each other and take care of each other and we would stand back to back to protect each other what a blessing they are to each other and her sister not the emperor her sister she found her voice after that night of them doing her like she did and after finding out that them women with no damn good she would like a lion I say she's a pit bull the girl like scared and I love how she did everything in the end she went there she told the emperor I didn't get your operation she went there and did what he had to do to get the protect her sister and get the truth out she wasn't scared of that old hag that he was sleeping with I love it I really do I love that this movie I keep watching it I love the people in it and I especially love me and oh my God that's so handsome and the ones that just had just over goosed out with love and and compassion for her for the women that they loved and everything it just my heart just went out even long Chaney the one that went to prison he he really appreciated he has so much respect for the interest he did they had a friendship that was out of this world you couldn't change that and then reality you know what she needed the friendship cuz she didn't have it really with her husband he started out good and then he just faded away he got in too much he was doing too much and just lick over her hand and forgot her and left her behind but then when he told he got nerve another and bumped up to him and told him the truth he couldn't handle it but deep down inside and he knew that she was telling him the truth he wasn't no damn good

Благодарю за подсказку о субтитрах. Но я уже посадила глаза читая их. Бегут со скоростью электрички. Смешиваются с переводом песен. Хочется следить за мимикой лица, выражением глаз и движением тела. Этимелочи раскрывают характер героев и много можно сказать о нем. Говорит ли он правду или лукавит. Я всегда дорамы пересматриваю. Вторичный пересмотр меняет отношение к героям и их окружению. Поспешные в воды иногда поверхностный. Дорама - это не книга. Чтение намного глубже раскрывает сюжетную линию и характер героев. Ещё раз благодарю за помощь.

Does anyone know what was wrong with A'rou's coffin? I know Ruyi fakes seeing the ghost, but what was done to the coffin and who did it? There were sounds coming from it, right?
Ruyi's maid threw a chemical on it as it burned so it looked like a spirit had escaped the coffin.

@@katherinkeegan8601 The book/movie at this point isn't too far off just slightly changed for dramatic effect because it's easier to comprehend smoke from a coffin on screen. In the novel there was a banging sound when they lit the pyre on fire like someone was trying to get out as well as a strange shrieking sound. Most of the guards were shaken but try to logic it by a rat or mouse having snuck inside somehow when the coffin was sealed and wasn't known until it was burned alive along with the corpse.

Actually, based on the record, Xian Fei was younger than Yu Pin. Xian Fei was born in 1718, while Yu pin was born in 1714.
PS. Emperor was born in 1711. The first empress was born I. 1712. Huixian was born in 1711. Both Chun and Jai were born in 1713. So who should be the "elder sister", right?
But this “elder sister “status is based on the position they held in the palace. You won’t call someone at a higher position “younger sister”…
It's based on Seniority both in "rank" and How long one has been in that rank and how long one has been married to the Emperor. This is why despite both Jia and Chun being the same age Chun was in the Noble Consort position longer than Jia so when they visit Jia calls Chun "Elder Sister" while Hailan is "younger sister."
Its also why even though A'Rou and Jia were the same position Jia was Noble Consort longer so in walking order A'Rou should have walked at the side of or behind Jia.

She had hallucinogenics put In the incense. The noble consort's guilt caused her to see A'ROU's ghost.
Ruyi had an exorcist banish A'ROU'S ghost, which was never there.
Yes. Everyone in her palace pretended that night to see A'Rou's ghost fire and freak out and try and protect Ruyi from something that wasn't there. This is allowed it to be more believable when Hui had her freak out because it happened the second time A'Rou would have returned. Everyone would say it made sense because A'Rou was her servant and blamed her but now she couldn't go after Ruyi because of the shaman and instead would go after Hui for "some reason".
This was doubled when Hui's warming medicine (because she has blood circulation issues) was tainted with a hallucinogenic which made her 'see' A'Rou's ghost.

The reason he didn't have more chidren with her is for what Jia and her servant talk about in the beginning. Because they interfered with Halian's pregnancy and the birth of Yongqi it screwed up Halian's uterus and her body in general, because of this it would be very dangerous if not impossible for Halian to have another child for a very long time and by the point she would be "Safe" she would already be a bit older and down the line anyway so it would be better for her to enjoy her one son and her seniority in the Harem vs trying to risk her life for another child.
