I feel privileged to have been entering my teen years and have Jeff Lynne and ELO as the soundtrack of my youth. You DEFINITELY have to react to "Tightrope" one of Jeff's best even though it was never released as a single.

Love ELO. Their break-out hit in South Africa was "Living Thing" and when I heard it for the first time on the radio, I was hooked. "Tightrope" would be my suggestion for your next reaction.

Yes, Livin Thing is definitely another legendary hit song from ELO, then again most of their singles and a few non-singles were definitely hits in my book

Yes yes yes I feel legendary by being shouted out haha! No but this song is just everything. It's just always gets me going if I'm feeling really sluggish it just has a something to it that just doesn't stop pulsating and the harmonies are just other level! But thank you and I'm glad you liked it ♥️👍✌️

When you paused, I thought: "You ain't heard nothing yet!"
Yes, that double-speed singing usually takes people by surprise the first time.
Btw this is the opening, first song of OOTB. Side one has four songs, side two has five, side three is Concerto For A Rainy Day, which you just did, except for the non-album version of MBS, shame, and side four has four songs. All songs are infinitely brilliant. You have thirteen to go. I may be in a minority, but in my opinion, formed from listening to OOTB regularly for 40 years (= at least 500 times), the entire album, not just CFARD, makes up one long and coherent story, about a male protagonist, feeling "turned to stone", because his loved one has gone, _It's Over_ and yet he refuses to give up. This is the subject of the third song on side 1, _Sweet Talking Woman_ - which also hints back to _Telephone Line_ from the preceding album. A song which to _my_ surprise you haven't done yet: it's typically one of the first ELO songs people react to after MBS. Anyway, in _STW_ the protagonist goes on a world journey, searching for her. He gets to like travelling, but has no luck in finding her, as she escapes him every time. He does learn a lesson or two though. This all makes up the last song of side 1 and most of side 2. You _will_ be surprised and mindblown when you hear the second-to-last song of side 2, _Believe Me Now_ - believe me!
Then of course comes CFARD, and after that, on side 4, love has been restored in the protagonist's life, and all is bliss, but he begins to yearn for the travelling life a bit, fantasizing about being with his new girl in the wild west.
Even if you don't react to the remaining songs ever, do yourself the favour of listening to the entire album, on headphones, uninterrupted and without distractions except for the song lyrics. You can thank me later.

You’re taking a trip through my life. I grew up in a time of pure pop masterpieces such as those by ABBA and ELO. Others have suggested their best songs and I agree. For sure TELEPHONE LINE and SWEET TALKIN’ WOMAN. You’ll also love exploring THE CARS. The two of you give me hope for a new generation who love melody, harmony and fun fun fun in their music.

You should go with 'Tightrope' next. Amazing intro and quite dark lyrics but definitely one of their greatest. If you want something a little slower but has a haunting hook, you should listen to 'Telephone Line'. Jeff is pleading for more time to speak to his love'. It has many 'bridges' before it hits a stunning chorus. Keep it up guys. x

Love ELO. Love 'Don't Bring Me Down" , "Turn To Stone", "Livin' Thing", "Sweet Talkin' Woman", "Evil Woman", "Hold On Tight", 'Telephone Line", and also "Calling America" - this one was from 1986, had their vintage '70's sound but wasn't as huge a hit as it should've been. Give it a try.

This song got me started on the ELO obsession, back in 1977. You guys have just barely scratched the surface of the ELO catalogue of great music. You haven't really hit any of the top ten hits yet.

Lynne was born in Birmingham and became interested in music during his youth, being heavily inspired by the Beatles. He began his music career in 1963 as a member of the Andicaps, leaving the group a year later to join the Chads. From 1966 to 1970, Lynne was a founding member and principal songwriter for the Idle Race. In 1970, Lynne accepted Roy Wood's offer to join the Move, with Lynne contributing heavily to the band's last two albums. Later that year, Lynne and Wood disbanded the Move to form the band ELO, which was formed out of Lynne's and Wood's desire to create modern rock and pop songs with classical overtones. Following Wood's departure from ELO in 1972, Lynne assumed sole leadership of the band and wrote, arranged, and produced virtually all of its subsequent records.
During the 1970s and 1980s, ELO released a string of top 10 albums and singles, including the band's most commercially successful album, the double album Out of the Blue (1977). Two ELO albums reached the top of British charts: the disco-inspired Discovery (1979) and the science fiction-themed concept album Time (1981). After ELO's original disbandment in 1986, Lynne released two solo albums: Armchair Theatre (1990) and Long Wave (2012). Additionally, he began producing various artists. In 1988, under the pseudonyms Otis Wilbury and Clayton Wilbury, he co-founded the supergroup Traveling Wilburys with George Harrison, Bob Dylan, Roy Orbison, and Tom Petty. In the 1990s, Lynne co-produced the Beatles' Anthology reunion singles from John Lennon demos, "Free as a Bird" (1995) and "Real Love" (1996). In 2014, Lynne reformed ELO and resumed concert touring under the name "Jeff Lynne's ELO".
Lynne produced all fifteen ELO singles that rose to the Top 10 record charts in the UK. Outside of ELO, Lynne's producing credits include the UK or US Top 10 albums Cloud Nine (Harrison, 1987), Mystery Girl (Orbison, 1989), Full Moon Fever (Petty, 1989), Into the Great Wide Open (Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, 1991), Flaming Pie (Paul McCartney, 1997), and Get Up! (Bryan Adams, 2015). In 2014, Lynne received a star on the Birmingham Walk of Stars, and was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame the following year. He received three Ivor Novello Awards, including the award for Outstanding Services to British Music.[1] In 2017, Lynne was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of ELO,[2] and was appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire in 2020....he NEVER wrote a bad song...❤

Jeff Lynne, master songsmith and producer. Produced for Tom Petty & Del Shannon and Roy Orbison amongst others (the Travelling Wilberrys link). He also produced Free as a Bird by the Beatles in 1995, a production described by George Martin as a trademark “thick” production by Lynne. I think he meant Lynnes production was very layered and heavy sounding. I love the Eldorado album myself and the superb Diary of Horace Wimp from the Discovery album. Very talented musician who clearly loves his craft.

EJO is my all time favorite band, and I am 58 years old. Jeff Lynn is a unique genius. The Out if the Blue 2 album set is the best 2 album set ever, in my book. NO ONE does or has done what Jeff Lynn did. Thank god we have him in our time in history.

Hi there kiddos. Grandpa Diego over here. Well, as usual, another one gotten hooked by ELO. No wonder. I'm hooked since 1972. Ok. here is the thing: Three tips: first, use headphones; you loose a lot of colors and textures by not using them; second, have the lyrics at hand; it's not just a delight to listen to Jeff's music but getting what he says at the same time is incredible; his lyrics are as good as his music; and last but not least, a song recomendation; namely a sooo underrated one just because it is a goofy song; iand it is a goofy song indeed, the goofiest song ever; BUT written and performed by Jeff Lynn and it is called Jungle. You both are gonna flip out and laugh to death. Take these as a contribution to the channel. Have a big hug alongside my blessings from Grandpa D.

Wait until you listen to "Sweet Talkin' Woman" and "Shine a Little Love!" which are both in my top 5 ELO tracks.

    Hey! Love this reaction
As music lovers and students try ELO's ROCKARIA! Which is about an opera singer hooked on Wagner, Beethoven and Verdi who learns to sing rock'n'roll. It's fun!

My other favorite ELO song is definitely "Shine A Little Light"... I think I mention that somewhere. Maybe here. Who knows haha. But that seems to be a lot more progressive than most people can handle. It's just very spacey and orbital.... With disco elements thrown in That's the best way I think to describe it but I feel you guys would definitely enjoy it. Maybe not tremendously. Love it! Like I do but I think you would give it a whirl lol

ELO has/had at least 25 great songs to listen to many of which are listed in the comments. I had most of their albums back in the day and would listen to each song over and over with very few "filler" songs especially once they got to their 3rd album.

Good album starter track... but in my comment in one of your last reviews - 'Tightrope' is a must, also for a complete change in direction to their sound - go for 'Twilight' full version beginning with the 'Prologue' from the album 'Time' ... both these tracks are album starters! Keep up the good reviews! Andrew.
