Yay! I love me some picture books! I have only seen foxes a couple of times and both have been in the snow! Shy and sly my grandfather would say - they try hard to NOT be seen. I have Winter Garden. It's a favorite! And I have Mice Skating! I adore it. The shortest day is a classic 🤗 I read it to my kids when they were bitsy.
I have seen a fox 5x. In fields here in montana. They are playful and will frolic around at times. Curious and so cute. When their coat is full they are so fluffy and in the summer look thin and sickly but just a thin coat
some beautiful picture books - always loved searching for these with my kids. They loved Robert McCloskey ( not really winter themed ) living in Maine they were favorites in our house. I loved the Barn winter picture book - my son wore out his board book favorite - The Big Red Barn. I really liked It's Winter! and Snow Still that you shared. Appreciate you taking the time to show us the pages! Capturing these favorites in video - will remind you when Finn is much older, what some of your favorites were! Wish you could see fox in your area - they are so sweet, see at least one a couple times a week!
@@GloriaZThompson certain times of year they traipse thru the small wooded cul-de-sac neighborhood I live in. I hope Finn enjoys the book! Another favorite (of my daughter's )was Ten Little Ladybugs. I think you'll like the Big Red Barn, it reads like a rhyme, I remember my son loving that. He also loved the Eric Carle book, Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? reading that board book over and over I can remember around 2-3 yrs old, he'd "read it" himself due to the sing-song writing style-matching the pictures. Was fun to watch! Those 2 were staples in the car - so he pretty much knew the words associated with the pictures. Finn is at a great age right now - I'm sure you're loving his personality coming thru! ☺
OOOOOhhhhh! I LOVE these books! I'm a retired teacher and I LOVE using childrens' books in the journals that I make (I usually order 2 copies of each book...used...1 for cutting up and 1 to save!)...Thanks for sharing these titles. Now I'm going to have to go look for ALL of them! Oh, by the way, we HAVE seen a fox once over in Arizona up on the Mogollon Rim. I frequently drive from the desert floor up into our local mountains (up to 10,000 feet high!) and I HAVE seen desert bighorn sheep AND 3 bobcats! YES! Even some deer!
I love this! At the library I try to save some picture books when they are being thrown out. I use the pages for some scrapbooking and crafts as well. So cool you've seen a fox and other fun animals. 🦊
I spent hours upon hours reading to my daughter when she was little. I love picture books! A favorite author/illustrator I found is Jan Brett. Each page is so detailed and beautiful. Many of her books are winter or Christmas themed.
LOL I commented before I got to the end, then I saw that you don't like Jan Brett's books. I just found them so beautifully detailed. There is a lot on each page for the child to look at while the book is being read to them.
Huge Jan Brett fan myself. You mentioned that you read to your daughter when she was little. I'm assuming she's grown now. Are you still enjoying picture books on your own? I hope I always delight in picture books no matter my age. If you've not picked up Jan Brett in some time she has several new books are just lovely! Cinders by her is one of my all time faves.
@@thiscozyspace My daughter is almost 16. Nowadays we listen to audio books together on the way to and from school. Our current read is the 5th Harry Potter book. I do still enjoy picking up picture books just for myself. In fact, I bought a vintage book at the thrift store recently, just because I loved it so much. A few months ago, I checked out a stack of my favorite books from when my daughter was little, and took them over to my sister's house to read to my nieces and nephew. That was so fun. I need to do that again!
We live in front of a ravine in Illinois and I just saw a fox in our yard! I had never seen a fox before this either. It definitely has me wondering if he's been there all along. Maybe foxes are very good at not being seen...

It's one of my all time favorites and not just in the winter category. The story and art are both top notch (in my opinion). What about Cinders by Jan Brett? I know you mentioned you're not a Jan Brett fan, but oh my goodness it's lovely and whimsical even if you just enjoy the art work of all the different chickens dressed up in amazing costumes. Here are a few other faves...... -The Snow Queen (several variations but I enjoy the version told by Charlotte Cooke) -East to the Sun and West to the Moon by PJ Lunch (it's a longer one) -Blizzard by John Rocoo -Snow Ponies by Cynthia Cotten -The Heart of a Snowman by Mary Kuryla -Winters Gift (Oh my goodness my heart, love this one) by Jane Donovan Such a great video!

That's so cool! 🦊 Probably why they are known to be sneaky and sly, but would still love to see one some day.
Also i saw foxes in very remote fields with strong winds. It helps them not smell me and hide
I saw a fox vs black barn cat showdown once😂. The fox gave up and ran off. They bark too
