My Mother's favorite group, she loved the m and I was blessed to get to take her to see them. She's been with God now for 21 years, my husband it will be a year this month. My heart hurts so bad.
God bless The Statlers. There will never be another group that can sing Gospel like they do. I listen to them daily. It comforts me especially in times like these with the virus.
I really wish SOMEONE would listen to us seniors- our music was wonderful and such a blessing I have a hard time sitting thru most church services now - they all seem to want their own stuff - most people don't sing and the church pastors are oblivious to how the congregation is reacting -often few are singing( mostly the crew up front ) and a few others who are dancing along !!!
I am actually very blessed to be able to attend a small country church where we sing the real songs and no repetitive choruses or drums or anything like that. And we still have singings using shape-note hymn books!
I appreciate your comment, tha n k you for it. I,too, cannot sit through "praise worship" songs. I lived thru the changeover. The "Calvary Chapel" movement really spurred this Hillsong praise worship movement. I have visited many churches but not stayed due to the music program. Growing up within 15 minutes of Moody Bible Church in the burbs of Chicagi, there were Bible churches everywhere. We went to Des Plaines B.C and later on after Pastor Craig Massey died,Park Ridge B.C As a young boy, little boy,I remember singing at Easter time,"Wonderful Grace of Jesus","He Lives",and "Up from the grave,He arose". Both churches just belted out these gospel classics. Moving back to Pennsylvania, eastern part, there were no Bible churches. The only place to hear the word were Baptist churches. We lost a lot of our church to the Calvary Chapels with their praise worship, monotonous repetitive songs along with the Peter,Paul and Mary folk music bit. I went to a Greg Laurie "Harvest Crusade" event thinking maybe I was being too judgemental and too fuddy duddy about the music. Well......I went and they introduced, get this, a Christian rap group to open the program. I listened for all of one minute,HATED their music, got up and walked out but only after staring down the people from church who recommended I come. I held their stared till they looked away.....they knew. I decided right then and there, if a church has no piano and organ and doesnt sing song book hymns Im not attending.
As a man who is not a "senior" I couldn't agree more. This is not a "senior" versus "junior" issue. The older lyrics and music are generally better because the writers had "that water that wasn't from the well" and they knew their A.V. bible, whereas today we have cultists writing songs that bible believing churches have paid to help spread around the world through royalties, cassette, vinyl, cd, dvd, and digital download purchases over the years. The lack of discernment in our ranks for the past 30 years was astonishing that this was permitted to the point that the majority of younger prople and not a few older people nowadays have been thoroughly disarmed and happily support its spread even while maintaining they disagree with their heresies. Strange times.
hey voirrey m you remember send me my old picture of Jenna myers with iamagtion movers smitty we went to duck season togther you remember i did shot one or two duck I love you gril voirrey m from your best friend Jenna myers
All of you the number one I know you believe in the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I'm not seeing you and yours any of you but I think of you everyday. Jimmy I still what to get you for a church so badly. I pray harrold rest in peace I think of him often , my sympathies to all of you please no God is with you all. Love to you. Judy Lange.
I wonder how long it will be before the powers that be decided that Gospel music will no longer be allowed over the airwaves. They have made it illegal to mention God in schools now, so what is next? Pull up Shaun Loughrey and listen to "What's this world a coming too. Great song.
To the Grim Doc: It makes me sad to hear you say you're a rabid atheist. Neither do I believe in religion, the organized kind. But I believe in my heart that there is a God, and that Jesus is Lord, and that He loves us. I think that's why you can appreciate Gospel music, why you get tears when you think about your grandmom. Open the door just a little more, let Him speak to you. It isn't a church, it's what's in your heart, and it's a wonderful peace.
Very sadly, the apostasy and heresy running amuck in churches was let in by the worldly music pastors allowed. In their zeal to distance themselves from the Protestant,Lutheran,Presbyterian,Methodist religiosities they eliminated many sweet, beautiful, melodious, heart and spirit felt hymns that we all grew up with. As I've gotten older those old hymns brought back many many wonderful memories for me of people long gone from me. I will hold this back. This is for you pastors that have brought this on us.......Contemporary Christian music SNIFFS !!!! Yes....SNIFFS. A church is NO place for bass guitars, electric guitars drums and people singing drab, monotonous, single sentence songs who look like Peter,Paul & Mary. I dont mean to insult PP&M,I liked many of their songs, just not in church please. For this reason, pastors,if your church plays this garbage, I will walk in your church,if at all, 1/2 hour late to avoid listening to your crappy music. I've been doing this for 10 years. The Calvary Chapel movement I find to be the greatest offender, but what indeed can one expect from a California Jesus movement hatched out of the hippie rebellion. Growing up partly in Chicago under the airwaves of WMBI,Moody Bible Institute I cherished the God filled hymns we sang each Sunday. I repudiate any church or pastor who attempts to suck in young people to his church by having singing groups performing hip hop or rap music. God calls people to Him,not wordly, apostate music. I just hope the Bible churches I went to in Illinois havent succumbed to this rubbish
yes I agree. You should look at the interviews with John Todd Collins who left the Illuminati and talked about plans to take over Christian music, decades ago. The music shift is no accident.
Fellas fellas fellas no no no I know your professional singers but this song is not for you not at all you want to see upstanding version of this song look up Jimmy Swaggart listen to his voice in this song and you'll never look back
