It seems like you've answered "should I get a sport bike or not" rather than "should I get a faired bike or not". I personally started liking faired bikes (if not crazily different in performance) more after trying some because they keep the wind and rain off. Though even "naked" ones almost invariably have a top fairing now.
I'm almost 50 and bought a GSXR750 this year and riding track for the first time. Age is just a number. Ride what puts a smile on your face. I've owned a few Triumph naked bikes and I'm actually having more fun with the Super Sport.
Being 47 and working a highly physical job, even the "not-so-supersports" I tried just killed me. I'm just a little too short for ADVs, and really did not enjoy the ergos of cruisers. 36 with a ninja 500 and even with its "fairly" neutral position, i still feel it in my back after about 3 hours of riding. My buddy has a Honda 300 naked and it does feel more comfortable on longer rides. I personally just don't want to give up the windscreen. But I feel like there's now for nakeds with windscreens that my next bike will probably be naked.
@danswizzle4113 as a 6’4” rider(31) I must say that all windscreens are useless to me. At best they keep wind off my stomach and massively increase the wind noise with how bad they buffet. My personal bike is a Trident 660, and it’s much quieter without the windscreen I added. That said, I have a 60 mile commute each way and it’s nice to tuck behind it sometimes when I’m cruising at 90+(Texas). Sport bike screens are said to be much less noisy than the tall screens that are more vertical(like naked bike screens or something like the insane Tracer 9 screen)
I've never ridden a naked bike. I ride a CBR600RR and don't find it uncomfortable at all. Don't know why so many TH-camrs say they're so uncomfortable. I'm 48 years old and it's perfectly fine with me...also a beautiful thing to look at!
I would love a naked as a second bike. My only vehicle is a motorcycle. I would not give up my fairings and wind screen. Cold and rainy days it make all the difference.
With up-right seating position, believe a partially faired bike - no continual hard stream of air on your upper body or legs is the most pleasant to ride. With a windscreen low enough to easily see over, but tall enough (with a kick- up curve at the back) to divert most of the wind over the top of your helmet.
cool video, i just bought a 2011 Triumph Tiger 800 and have fallen in love the three cylinder inline with its asynchronous drum beat that sings. and whilst i haven't ridden the triple 765 i imagine it has a very similar feel
I like the smooth airflow on a naked bike better, but they are terrible on an interstate above 70 mph. I have a Ninja 1000SX right now and it's better on the interstate, but the drumming noise is bad, even after raising the windshield and removing the buffetting.
I really want one but am trepidatious being that KTM is having so much trouble and going bankrupt. Parts were already hard to get. Now they might get even harder. Though that bike looks and seems cool enough to throw my caution aside.
Im 42 years old. I wanted performance and somewhat comfortable so I bought a '24 Streetfighter V4S and couldn't be happier. I'm sure I would have loved a Panigale but the ergonomics would kill me and I don't plan on racing kids to 190mph on the street.
As a Tuono V4 guy, I totally get you. Besides, I like the engine configuration of the Tuono more than the one of the RSV4. Can't wait to continue riding in April!
I have a 2006 Daytona 675 for years now and it's the thing I got after I had a GS500F 2005 for 11 years Love your channel Sir Yammie. Your giveaway is the color of my Daytona keep riding safe brother I've been watching you for years no homo
MT-09SP rider here. There are certainly faster & much more powerful bikes but the 09's acceleration, its core purpose (that and all the wheelies), its numbingly quick. Most 600's are faster but damn does it pull like a freight train. Took my old 1st gen FZ09 to the limiter, 132ish and that started feeling sketchy. My 23' SP is full bolt ons & flashed, certainly faster, more stable/advanced, and no limiters. Yet to have tested its true limit but its been upper 130's, allegedly, hypothetically speaking.
Brother ive been watching you since I was 13. I’m 23 now and the only vehicle I own is a 60th anniversary R1. I agree with you 100% on the uselessness of liter bikes on public roads. I ride it relatively chill compared to my peers but riding anything smaller feels like I’m neutered. 200mph at 3am is a warm embrace unlike any other
Neutered😂 see thats the problem with riding liter bikes. Once you ride them all other bikes are ruined in comparison. I will never swing a leg over one for this reason alone. ill keep banging gears and shredding corners on my Duke, thank you very much 🤙🏼
i have a cbr650r and test rode a cb650 as well. both are very comfortable and much more realistic for street riding compared to the 600rr i used to have. i appreciate the fact you really try to sway people away from 600s, or at the very least open up peoples perspectives that a 600 isnt the end all be all that they used to be.
At some point take the next step Yammie! Get on a power cruiser and feel real comfort! The torque pulls hard on acceleration and you can still get the rush without doing triple digits!
Man that point for naked bikes not being as aerodynamically comfortable as fully faired with a windshield is spot on. Once you start getting to 100mph territory that wind resistance becomes really noticeable.
Back problems since 26. Nakeds for life. I’ve had a RGV 250 in my teenage years and luckily didn’t die. I’ve had a MT07, Tuono and now a Streetfighter SP. nakeds just make sense and the Streetfighter can do it all.
My first street bike 2023 Triumph Trident 660. Naked Sport Touring. checks the boxes for me. Did ALOT of research and consideration before deciding. Iv had since March this year I’m happy with my decision 🎉
I"ve got a 2008 SV650N and I got a strong neck so the wind doesn't affect me until above 110. Recently I added some cafe-style half-fairings just for some extra comfort and looks.
Last 2 bikes have been a Triumph Tiger 660 Sport and now a Triumph Street Triple 765R and I loved the 660 but the windscreen height meant the head buffeting was awful (I'm 6'4"). The 765R is brilliant, although helmet starts lifting about 85 (so I'm told 😊). I don't miss a windscreen though. The 660 really is a great bike too.
try riding in northern climates in May, June and September October and you wont be on your naked bike for more than a half hour. Up here we like wind protection, heated bars and taller windshields to extend our otherwise short riding season. ADV bikes are popular for the same reason. There are several bike makes with 150+ hp if performance is a significant criterion
just moved up here from Texas and definitely adjusting to the colder weather. Picked up some heated riding gear though and it's helped a ton. Haven't hit a sub 40 day yet though so will report back. I am really debating on a CFMOTO Ibex 450 though....
I've had 2 1970's Suzuki GT250's and a 1980's Suzuki GS550 Katana for naked; a Kawasaki GPZ550 Ninja (without the lowers) for semi-naked; a 1987 Honda VFR700 & a 1993 Kawasaki ZX11 for faired bikes. What I found was mostly what Yammie said in the video. Faired bikes looked cooler, but ergos are less comfortable & maintenance can be a hassle. Naked bikes are easier to maintain & riding position is much more comfortable, but not anywhere near as cool looking. One consideration that should be taken into account is if you have a spill; naked bikes will have scrapes & stuff like broken turn signals but are less expensive to repair/replace because you don't have to repair or replace fairings. The cost of repairing/replacing fairings can be really high...
i have owned a CBF1000 for a few years now and it may not be a superbike but can handle the twisties well, will sit on 160 kph (like the rest of the world uses) and is great for two-riding. under the radar is the best option. remember Yammie, very few of us will ever see a track. if you're not just a squid or tosser and ride all year, a similar style of bike, for example a GSXF, VFR, ST3, Ninja, etc. would be a very good choice for most seasoned riders. yes, compromise can be a necessity, suck it up.
I used to ride a Kawasaki er6n but I just couldn’t ride it for more than 3 hours. After that my body was killing me. Legs was to bent so it restricted the blood flow to my feet to the point that I didn’t have any feeling in them. And my shoulders and neck wasn’t to happy either. Now I ride a 2018 “battleship” or a Yamaha tracer 900 GT and I absolutely love it! Although it’s big it handles with such ease. The weight distribution is beautifully balanced too.
I used to own a ER-6f (Ninja 650...). A higher-up seat would have fixed the leg situation. Shoulders and neck sounds odd, never had such issues with any bike (I've ridden many naked bikes. 35000km on my Street Triple). Anyway, if you're happy with your bike, anything is fine, right?
@ With the er6n I didn’t have bags for luggage so I usually carried a backpack which often times led to the discomfort in my neck and shoulders but I can sit even straighter with my tracer which is definitely more comfortable for me. But I do miss hitting the twisties more aggressively with the Kawasaki sometimes.
@@JustSomeGuyFromEarth Right, that makes sense. Ergonomics-wise, I went the other way. In the Tuono V4 community, I am one of the most comfort-orientated guys around I think gear, handle bar, footpegs, and seat make a huge difference when it comes to comfort. As for touring, I invested in an array of SW-Motech bags (small and medium-sized tank bag, and a big rear bag). Really looking forward to hit the road again in April!
@@simonb6982 im guessing you’re either German or Austrian but here in Sweden we still have below 0°c in April. Might get a few days with 10° weather and if your really lucky the roads can be clean enough to ride carefully.
I'm 41 years old and have loved supersport motorcycles since I was a kid, even though I've never ridden one. I currently own a CBR500R and recently thought about buying a ZX6R. I think I'd like it, even if it's not very comfortable to ride.
to each his own... I sold my VFR800 and bought a 600 Hornet instead. For commuting the Hornet is awesome, but boy do I miss the wind protection of the Viffer above certain speeds.
Point 1: More fully faired bikes with upright seating sold than cafe style these days. (I'm guessing, with confidence.) Point 2: Only 600cc or 400cc I-4 bikes actually have power bands that are 'peaky' in any impactful way on the street. Point 3: Gearing, now we are criticizing only the liter bike. Fair point... against liter bikes. Point 4: Maintenance is harder. True except it's easier to keep a faired bike clean. Depending how clean you keep your bike, this matters. This video feels like it came from the early 2000's when naked bike vs. 600 or 1000cc sport bike was kinda the mental math for a lot of people. These days you can pick and choose. You want an semi-upright torquey fully faired sporty bike you have like a dozen options. Lot more options than you have for fully committed sport bikes - that's for certain.
Naked hater here to say my Daytona 650 is very forward leaning and I enjoy it WAY more than my Svartpilen 701. Way more comfortable on the highway or anytime you're faster the 50 mph. My FJR is pretty upright and I prefer the handling increase of forward lean.
Fairing's rock during winter and at high speeds, that said i gave them up cause they are hot in the summer and wind blast on my XSR keeps me kinda legal by feeling the speed.
Keep in mind the ducati street fighter is straight up the panigale with some different trim and a set of handlebars. So if you're want a more comfortable setup, you can slap handle bars on your sport bike.
I'm 42 ride a 2001 suzuki sv650s my comfortable bike I've ever rode and half the plastics looks great to me easy to work on and get the top end look of a fully faired bike
I recently bought a 1290 KTM superduke R and quickly found out how much i missed the sportbike riding position and i hated how light the front end felt and the wind buffeting. Also i loved reving it out past 10k where the superduke taps out. Sold it and going back to a sportbike.
I do a lot of highway miles on my Trident 660 and I swapped out the handlebars so that I was leaned over. It still isn’t as good as a fully faired motorcycle, but it is infinitely better than sitting upright stock. Honestly, that’s about the only thing that I would change on that ST. The Moto 2 version to me is the perfect iteration of the Street Triple.
I like all bikes, none is specifically better. It's what you intend to do with it. For me Naked bikes are aesthetically more appealing. For my riding, also the best option. Followed up by a touring motorcycle as in Sport Touring like the Tracer, Africa Twin, V-Strom, GSX-S GT etc.
Hey Yammie whats your thoughts on the MV Agusta Brutale 800? I personally think it's the most beautiful naked bike out there, would like to see you review that someday 🤞
Agree here… they at least have more character. If you don’t have some kind of livery that is representative of the company you bought it from and just paint them black. I think fully faired bikes look mostly the same.
Agree! If you not totally serious about it, naked bikes have cheaper taxes, insurance and even you dont abuse speed for long, as wind got unconfortable after some while. Regards from Brazil.
Having had fully faired machines in the following order: Gpz500, sv650s, FZ1SA, SV1000S. I've recently switched to a 2013 street treble 675R. And I'm totally smitten. There is no finer handling machine. It handles like a seagull that's found a dropped fry. Or a house fly that's just spotted a freshly laid dog rocket. Sure 130mph is the limit, but by then you are breaking every law in the land. Embrace the naked. It's far more fun than the sv's and FZ machines and far more fuel economical.
i don’t have a street bike yet but i’ve ridden dirt bikes for years as a kid and some motorcycles on the road. im currently 30 and looking to get my first street bike. i love the way the fully faired bikes look but i think a naked would be better suited for me where i live in the mountains. i just can’t make my mind up
I”m a bikini fairing guy with a somewhat sporty chassis. There really aren’t many around any more. For those who don’t know know what I’m talking about, think about a fairing that covers the same areas of the bike as an ATV but looks like the upper part of a sport bike, sort of. Performance would be like current naked bikes. Teuno started as one but has more fairings now. Classic bikes are Suzuki Bandit and the Yamaha FZ-1 from early 2000’s. Naked bike simplicity with wind protection for the dads.
Insurance is also funny. Went from Honda CB500F to street triple. Geico tripled my rate (guess they consider it super sport). Progressive gave me similar rate to Honda, so they seem to categorize it differently.
I personally prefer naked bikes, the styling, comfort and street performance is typically a lot nicer. I'm just on a faired sport tourer at the moment because I needed to switch to DCT motorcycle after a crash ruined my left hand.
Being a older man not a pup like the noob, I like sitting up not bent over. But never ride naked that's stupid. Still got the scars coming off with leather jacket gloves boots and normal jeans. That was before proper protection.
For my experience, faired bikes sway more in the wind cause the fairings act like sails on a boat. Cost more as a beginner cause you will drop it and fairings ain't cheap. I've had naked bikes for the last 10 years and I'm not going back. I have an aftermarket windshield on the Z900 but I still miss the whole wind protection from my old faired bikes. That said, I'm going to get an ADV soon, probably CFMOTO 800MT-X when it comes to Australia next year.
That would be wasting the potential of a bike. Whats the point of adding fairings to a Bike if your total upright posture just increases the Air drag? You can tuck yourself down, but to do that effectively you need the foot pegs to be a bit towards the back, and hence a sportier stance.
Sorry, the naked bikes are not my cup of tea. I would never dis anybody on 1. Their are so many types of bikes out now. We should all be looking out for 1 and another. All of us on 2wheels and the trikes let's admit it. Not everyone can hold up a 2 wheeled bike any more. (Not referring to the Can am spyder.) I'm 50 years old 6'1", and actually feel more comfortable on my 2004 Hayabusa, then I do on my 2008 Harley Fatboy. I was in an automobile roll over when I was 15. So I am permanently handicap. With hardley no movement in my left ankle. Can some one recommend a electronic shifters I can put on a 2004 Hayabusa. I don't race. Every one stay safe on the road no matter what kinda of motorcycle you ride. Love your videos Yammie keep up the good work.

That swap a bike with your buddy thing went the other way for me and my buddy. I have a zx6r and he has an mt10sp. He had a blast and I was kind of uncomfortable on the mt10
As a MT10 owner I love my bike and the character it has.... but I would still prefer a supersport for fast riding. It's fun to ride the bike hard but you're using so much more energy.
@ganuvien don't get me wrong, mt10 is fantastic. I just prefer the 600cc to the liter bike. Plus I fit the ninja better than the mt. Which is weird for a 280lbs 5'11" 29y/o incline just have weird proportions that make me fit into the ninja better. The mt10 always felt like a boat I preferred the size of the mt09 to it personally.
@@Gingerwolfman Yeah I had a XSR900 before and the weight difference/riding position is very noticeable. I'm waiting for the R9 myself if I can fit on it because i'm a fat dude 🤣. I sat on a 24 ZX6R and didn't like how low the clip ons felt for me like I was bent over a table.
I prefer full Faring bikes. I am in my late 30s and thats all i ride. A cbr600rr and a ducati 848evo. I personally dont find them that uncomfortable. even on long distance trips. A throttle lock is a must on long trips though.
Full faired bikes look much better imo, but I’m 56 and own a 2015 gsxr 600. It’s plenty enough power for me, looks cool asf. I wouldn’t own a 1000 for the street though.

Yeah, as you get older you appreciate the simpler things more ( atleast for men ) so naturally naked bikes with less tech are more appealing but Yamm you were cool back on the sport bike too back in the day.
Years on sports bikes has taught me they’re just not nice places to sit. Even in my 20s after an hour I wished I was off! Would never admit it though. Bought an SFV4s grey Nero. Best bike I’ve EVER owned. All the nuts of the Panagale without the crap road position. Sports bikes are for a 45 min track race only. Sorry not sorry 🤷♂️
I always thought the same. Tried a RSV4, tried a CBR600RR. No way, Jose! Liked my Street Triple way more, and I even iced so many "ducklings" (supersport bikes... we call them "Bücklinge" because of their ducked stance) on the track. I like the smooth airflow on a naked bike better, but they are terrible on an interstate above 70 mph. I have a Ninja 1000SX right now and it's better on the interstate, but the drumming noise is bad, even after raising the windshield and removing the buffetting.
I Just recently bought my first bike. A used 2023 Vitpilen 401 with 1,700 miles. Love it so far.
Good choice, beautiful bike in person.
I really want one but am trepidatious being that KTM is having so much trouble and going bankrupt. Parts were already hard to get. Now they might get even harder.
Though that bike looks and seems cool enough to throw my caution aside.
I was supposed to get a ninja 400, and this guy scammed me and took $5000 from me 😢
Congrats!!
You got the best looking year for that bike, good job.
Im 42 years old. I wanted performance and somewhat comfortable so I bought a '24 Streetfighter V4S and couldn't be happier. I'm sure I would have loved a Panigale but the ergonomics would kill me and I don't plan on racing kids to 190mph on the street.
The V4S is the business- fantastic bike! Congratulations!!
As a Tuono V4 guy, I totally get you. Besides, I like the engine configuration of the Tuono more than the one of the RSV4. Can't wait to continue riding in April!
I wouldn't sell my MT-09SP but really want to park a Streetfighter V4S next to it!
@@mytmousemalibu Fair enough!

I have a 2006 Daytona 675 for years now and it's the thing I got after I had a GS500F 2005 for 11 years Love your channel Sir Yammie. Your giveaway is the color of my Daytona keep riding safe brother I've been watching you for years no homo
I like that naked bikes FEEL fast without going stupidly fast
Someone's never been on a hypernaked. Or anything over a 900cc for that matter
Uh... they are fast and feel faster.
I will never swing a leg over one for this reason alone. ill keep banging gears and shredding corners on my Duke, thank you very much 🤙🏼
Thasa hell of a story bro, keep ridin
i have a cbr650r and test rode a cb650 as well. both are very comfortable and much more realistic for street riding compared to the 600rr i used to have.
i appreciate the fact you really try to sway people away from 600s, or at the very least open up peoples perspectives that a 600 isnt the end all be all that they used to be.
Motorcycle good. No motorcycle bad.
Well said!
Naked bike but with an excellent windscreen that keeps the wind pressure off my torso and the bugs and rocks off my helmet visor.
My new GSX-8R is pretty upright and comfy
heck yeah, zx4r to
Back problems since 26.
Just got a Triton, it arrives in 3 days. Yeehaw!
I"ve got a 2008 SV650N and I got a strong neck so the wind doesn't affect me until above 110. Recently I added some cafe-style half-fairings just for some extra comfort and looks.
Love my naked 2017 Monster 1200S. Comfortable and buckets of torque from 5000-7500 rpm well short of the 10500 redline.
You made the move from Trident to Street Triple 765 R as I did. I'm hanging onto it for awhile.
try riding in northern climates in May, June and September October and you wont be on your naked bike for more than a half hour. Up here we like wind protection, heated bars and taller windshields to extend our otherwise short riding season. ADV bikes are popular for the same reason. There are several bike makes with 150+ hp if performance is a significant criterion
Ride in Colorado all year long on my naked Trident 660. I am looking to add a set of heated grips though.
just moved up here from Texas and definitely adjusting to the colder weather.
@@JustSomeGuyFromEarth Indeed, I'm German. I feel for you. On the other hand, Swedish girls are achingly beautiful!
I'm 41 years old and have loved supersport motorcycles since I was a kid, even though I've never ridden one. I currently own a CBR500R and recently thought about buying a ZX6R. I think I'd like it, even if it's not very comfortable to ride.
Mini bike, dirt bike, dual sport, street bike, cruiser, super sport, naked bike, adventure bike. The circle of life is complete.
to each his own... I sold my VFR800 and bought a 600 Hornet instead. For commuting the Hornet is awesome, but boy do I miss the wind protection of the Viffer above certain speeds.
Point 1: More fully faired bikes with upright seating sold than cafe style these days. (I'm guessing, with confidence.)
Point 2: Only 600cc or 400cc I-4 bikes actually have power bands that are 'peaky' in any impactful way on the street.
Switched from a hypernaked to a not so super sport. My back still questions my decision on a daily basis. The windscreen on the highway is clutch tho
Yea I just bought a suzuki gsx8r as my first bike and love it!
I’d like to see more upright seating and handle bars with fairings for wind protection, best of both imo.
About 06:30-ish, I had a geek on the street asked me if my Zephyr "was a Ducati?"😅😂
What if they just... put fairings on a naked bike?
That’s what a lot of 650 sports are, especially the ninja 650
Who said naked bikes aren't beautiful
I like them more than sport bikes
Agree here… they at least have more character. If you don’t have some kind of livery that is representative of the company you bought it from and just paint them black. I think fully faired bikes look mostly the same.
does a retro nacked count ??? thinking Z900RS 💕
Dammit yammie now you got me thinking 2025 R3 or MT-03 they both look cool but that white on the R3 looks amazing
my Mt-10Sp is the best of both worlds, just enough Aero for high speed , keeps the wind off of me, but has decent ergo for daily driving.
I will stay with my 24’ MT-09sp for comfort, 2 up, power & torque when I need it.
Plus city riding is much easier.
Best all around bike💪💨😎
Back in the day, all motorbikes were naked. I rode those. I prefer faired, especially at speed...but it does make maintenance a bit of a pain.
Agree! If you not totally serious about it, naked bikes have cheaper taxes, insurance and even you dont abuse speed for long, as wind got unconfortable after some while. Regards from Brazil.
Having had fully faired machines in the following order:
Gpz500, sv650s, FZ1SA, SV1000S.
It's far more fun than the sv's and FZ machines and far more fuel economical.
i don’t have a street bike yet but i’ve ridden dirt bikes for years as a kid and some motorcycles on the road. im currently 30 and looking to get my first street bike. i love the way the fully faired bikes look but i think a naked would be better suited for me where i live in the mountains. i just can’t make my mind up
Total noob here. Should I get a triumph scrambler 400 X, dual sport, or a ninja 300? Cost is 100% a factor.
cfmoto 450nk better all around bike than any of those options - triumph is the best looking though
Get the Street Triple. It’s the bedt motorcycle ever made.
Go used market, buy a bike to get comfortable riding, and then upgrade. I know you wanted the baby streetfighter.
Depends on what you plan to ride, the scrambler is a dirt cheap cool all arounder you can even take minor offroading.
Thanks yall!
Sports motorcycles are beautiful and eye-catching. but the naked ones 😍😍 are a delight to look at
Insurance is also funny.
I love the carnival red over cosmic yellow
Fully faired with upright seating position is ultimate, I don't know why these don't exist
That would be wasting the potential of a bike. Whats the point of adding fairings to a Bike if your total upright posture just increases the Air drag? You can tuck yourself down, but to do that effectively you need the foot pegs to be a bit towards the back, and hence a sportier stance.
I just put quick detach windshields on mine.
There when you want it, take it off when you don't.
What percentage of fully faired bikes comes without clip-ons?
I’m getting my first bike this weekend which is an SV650x
Im sort of a new rider, i started riding a Yamaha wr250f only for enduro riding. Im getting an a r7 for the street, i figured while being young i cuould go for a sportbike and when my back starts screaming for help ill make the change
The newer ninja 1000 sx looks pretty close to most sport bikes the average person wouldn’t be able to tell the difference
I love my SV. Best of both worlds
ADV or sports tourer styling suits me best; for the upright posture and windshield!
1000's make better street bikes.

Naked, unless you are a highway warrior.
Years on sports bikes has taught me they’re just not nice places to sit. Even in my 20s after an hour I wished I was off!
