    At least I don't need a screwdriver for the nose. I have replaced the Dzus fasteners with push-button conversions. Super fast to get the cone off without tools. Just a bit fiddly to get the cone back on without tools. Absolutely-solid when installed.

      Hey that sounds good. I've not seen that before. I'd love to see come pictures if you wouldn't mind sending to me on FB messenger or Instagram. Sounds like a great idea.

    Very useful. Only difference is I keep a spare clutch cable (one broke at Silverstone), instead of the screwdriver for the nose cone I have a large washer on my Caterham key ring. Haven’t dropped the spare wheel yet but never used it in many, many years of driving Caterhams. Following your video I plan to rationalise the tools I carry as I’m a little bit like “I’ll take this in case”. Definitely not adding lightness there. Good stuff

      Hi Fern doesn't have a clutch cable or I would also have one in the boot. A very good shout though. Its easy to end up putting loads in the boot it's hard to know where to stop sometimes.

    Now that is a very helpful video indeed! I can see I need to add a few things to my blatting kit. Cheers! 👍

    I've got a couple more items - clutch cable, alternator drive belt, a collection of bulbs, footpump, jack, a few more tools and a hi-vis jacket - nearly forgot, an umbrella.............

      Hey thanks for your comment. Fern doesn't have a clutch cable or I would have one as a spare. Someone else said a hi-vis jacket so that will be going in when I buy one. I wonder if anyone makes a Fern green one? 😂

      I think ambulance personnel have green ones, and I've seen cyclists wearing green hi-vis, too.

    Having watched this video followed by the crash video, one item I noticed you appear not to have in your boot is a hi-vis vest and/or jacket, the LED triangle means the car’s visibility is enhanced, but not your own physical safety when outside the car.

      A very good point I'll add one thanks.

      You can get a small LED ' puck ' light from either B&M or Home Bargains about £8 they a white torch and a pulsing red LED surround. There is a hanger and a magnet that would allow it to stick to the roll bar or a door. This will supplement the Warning triangle

    • @ACaterhamCalledFern
      @ACaterhamCalledFern  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi that sounds good. The head torch I have does similar. The magnet part sounds good though.

      That's all you really need and Just Add Lightness as they say 🙂 I really would recommend buying a spare throttle cable though even if the AA were to fit it. I've just added extra things mainly because of the breakdowns I've had. Not that there has been loads.

    Does that socket for the wheel nuts work OK with the tiny ratchet drive? Looks like it might struggle to undo a tight nut?

    • @ACaterhamCalledFern
      @ACaterhamCalledFern  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi yes I think it probably would struggle. Could always attach something to the end to make the handle longer. I dont have a jack or a spare so it wouldn't help me loads. One time I did go for a drive without torquing the wheel nuts up which is mainly why it's in there.

    • @iannolan-f4g
      @iannolan-f4g ปีที่แล้ว +1

      good point - no need for a wheelbrace if you aren't removing a wheel! @@ACaterhamCalledFern

    Do you have any room left for an overnight bag. I was thinking of going away for the weekend with my wife...

    • @ACaterhamCalledFern
      @ACaterhamCalledFern  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi yes and the half hood can go behind the seats or on top of the boot. There are also e bags that go on top of the boot. There is lots of room in the boot you just need to use it wisely. There is loads of space in the passenger footwell as well. Even with a passenger they can normally put a bag under their legs or put the bag at the end of the footwell.

    What extra tools did you need to fit the throttle cable? Want to make sure the same doesn't happen to me.

    • @ACaterhamCalledFern
      @ACaterhamCalledFern  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi it depends what you need to get the pedal box off. For me it was pliers, Philips screwdriver, flat head acrewdriver to open up the opening of the pedal. Small ratchet for the bolts on the pedal box can't remember what size socket. Some wire cutters or pliers to cut zip ties. Zip ties always have lots of zip ties and ducktape.

      @@ACaterhamCalledFern Still prepping my inventory for my boot. Where do you buy your throttle and clutch cables from? Caterham parts website is not the most user friendly, I also am shipping out to Canada, so if I get it wrong, it will take weeks to rectify. I also have a Sigma Supersport 140 (2008). From what I can see Caterham parts are out of stock on throttle cables, I can't see which clutch cable to order. Do I need a brake cable? Let me know what you think. Cheers N

      @@NeilDrew hey I think your car must be slightly different to mine. I only have a throttle cable. Redline components are great for parts for caterhams. I think their website is currently being worked on but here is the website and I just email Chris. Tell Chris ACaterhamCalledFern sent you 😀 the throttle cable snapping would have been rather pants if I didn't have a spare in the boot. Its a very simple fix on the road though.

    • @ACaterhamCalledFern

      Hi Bert. Fern's brake and clutch are fluid so the only cable I have is for throttle.
