At least I don't need a screwdriver for the nose. I have replaced the Dzus fasteners with push-button conversions. Super fast to get the cone off without tools. Just a bit fiddly to get the cone back on without tools. Absolutely-solid when installed.
Hey that sounds good. I've not seen that before. I'd love to see come pictures if you wouldn't mind sending to me on FB messenger or Instagram. Sounds like a great idea.
Now that is a very helpful video indeed! I can see I need to add a few things to my blatting kit. Cheers! 👍
Thanks I was hoping people would find it helpful.
Good to know if I ever own a caterham type of car
I’ve got the tyre weld, the hood, and erm… that’s it. Now feeling incredibly paranoid 😂
That's all you really need and Just Add Lightness as they say 🙂 I really would recommend buying a spare throttle cable though even if the AA were to fit it. I've just added extra things mainly because of the breakdowns I've had. Not that there has been loads.
I've got a couple more items - clutch cable, alternator drive belt, a collection of bulbs, footpump, jack, a few more tools and a hi-vis jacket - nearly forgot, an umbrella.............
Hey thanks for your comment. Fern doesn't have a clutch cable or I would have one as a spare. Someone else said a hi-vis jacket so that will be going in when I buy one. I wonder if anyone makes a Fern green one? 😂
I think ambulance personnel have green ones, and I've seen cyclists wearing green hi-vis, too.
@@antonshott7691 Thank you, you're right I've just had a look. Added to basket 🙂
Having watched this video followed by the crash video, one item I noticed you appear not to have in your boot is a hi-vis vest and/or jacket, the LED triangle means the car’s visibility is enhanced, but not your own physical safety when outside the car.
A very good point I'll add one thanks.
You can get a small LED ' puck ' light from either B&M or Home Bargains about £8 they a white torch and a pulsing red LED surround. There is a hanger and a magnet that would allow it to stick to the roll bar or a door. This will supplement the Warning triangle
Hi that sounds good. The head torch I have does similar. The magnet part sounds good though.
Lol, a Prius is more suitable for u 😂
Do you have any room left for an overnight bag. I was thinking of going away for the weekend with my wife...
Hi yes and the half hood can go behind the seats or on top of the boot. There are also e bags that go on top of the boot. There is lots of room in the boot you just need to use it wisely. There is loads of space in the passenger footwell as well. Even with a passenger they can normally put a bag under their legs or put the bag at the end of the footwell.
You say you've broken down several times. What kind of breakdown was it?
Hey sorry I missed this comment. Throttle cable snapping and throttle cable slipping off the bracket so I've got zip ties round it now.
Does that socket for the wheel nuts work OK with the tiny ratchet drive? Looks like it might struggle to undo a tight nut?
Hi yes I think it probably would struggle. Could always attach something to the end to make the handle longer. I dont have a jack or a spare so it wouldn't help me loads. One time I did go for a drive without torquing the wheel nuts up which is mainly why it's in there.
good point - no need for a wheelbrace if you aren't removing a wheel! @@ACaterhamCalledFern
What extra tools did you need to fit the throttle cable? Want to make sure the same doesn't happen to me.
Hi it depends what you need to get the pedal box off. For me it was pliers, Philips screwdriver, flat head acrewdriver to open up the opening of the pedal. Small ratchet for the bolts on the pedal box can't remember what size socket. Some wire cutters or pliers to cut zip ties. Zip ties always have lots of zip ties and ducktape.
Sounds good. Thanks@@ACaterhamCalledFern
@@user-ps2hg6bw4m no problem at all 😀 always good to have a small selection of tools as alot of things are easier than you might think. As you can see in this video this is what I have in my boot.
@@ACaterhamCalledFern Still prepping my inventory for my boot. Where do you buy your throttle and clutch cables from? Caterham parts website is not the most user friendly, I also am shipping out to Canada, so if I get it wrong, it will take weeks to rectify. I also have a Sigma Supersport 140 (2008). From what I can see Caterham parts are out of stock on throttle cables, I can't see which clutch cable to order. Do I need a brake cable? Let me know what you think. Cheers N
@@user-ps2hg6bw4m hey I think your car must be slightly different to mine. I only have a throttle cable. Redline components are great for parts for caterhams. I think their website is currently being worked on but here is the website and I just email Chris. Tell Chris ACaterhamCalledFern sent you 😀 the throttle cable snapping would have been rather pants if I didn't have a spare in the boot. Its a very simple fix on the road though.

I keep both a break and clutch cable in the boot. But what about a throttle cable?
Hi Bert. Fern's brake and clutch are fluid so the only cable I have is for throttle.
