  • Fireweed is a common wildflower found in the northern hemisphere.
These beautiful wild flowers along with 3 simple ingredients makes a delicious, refreshing, all natural summer drink with a sweet tart flavour.
    Foraging is fun!

Loved this video! Do you think it would be possible to dessicate the flowers and store them, so that you can use them for making syrup any time of the year?

would you have advice on how to convert a simple syrup into a jelly? we are harvesting fireweed with our school kids and want to make jelly. However, no stores have pectin in stock. Would we be able to convert a simple syrup into a jelly?

You could use powdered gelatine or gelatine plates. Use som of the sirup and blended it out with water so it isn’t so concentrated. Then all you have to do is add the gelatine powder or diluted plated to the warm sirup mixture until it is fully dissolved. The gelatine sets and you’ll have jelly. I don’t know if it would thicken enough to make jelly simply by cooking it down.
