Loses me totally after 8:00... Controlled card is at top at this point. Then says to count three cards off then put two cards on top of controlled card. This will apparently make it the second card shown.... no... it'll make it the third card shown if two are in front of it?? Am I being dense? But then later you take the top two cards off anyway, which would make it the top card again. Confused af. Help.
Actually you are not dense at all. He should have done a different cut to move the card to the third position which would make it in the dead center of the five. If you look up the actual Biddle trick you would understand better how to use a modified overhand Shuffle to position the selection in the third position and then use the Biddle grip to convince The Spectator that the selected card was in the center then has disappeared. Shame they don't give credit to the actual creators of the trick so people can find a better method or even theory behind everything. The counting of 5 then moving 2 to the bottom was painfully obvious and a layman would suspect something at that point. As this is my most favorite trick to perform, their tutorial was really painful to watch.

What do you think about adding a blank card? You would take 6 cards instead of 5 and place is 2nd. You would make it seem like you have 5. You then do it normally but take the first two cards at once. You don't have to do a false count. You flip the cards over and one is blank. The rest played out normally. Good or bad?
Good to me, i tried it because i have a deck with a blank card and you just have to be good at not revealing the blank card, which i am working on. Another possibility would be to have the blank car already face up at the bottom of your half, but that could be difficult to. Overall, thx for the idea

I got this trick from a dvd on penguin magic a lonnnggg time ago. The presentation was a bit different, but the sleight of hand moves were all the same. It's for sure a great trick. Probably one of my favorite impromptu card tricks because it just blows peoples minds and you can do it over and over again with all different kinds of setups and presentations to make it interesting and different every time.
So much fun learning more tricks to wow my friends and family. Keep up the great work

I love these videos. One thing I'll say to anyone trying to learn new tricks is you're going to be surprised how much you can get away with when performing them. Of course practice is paramount but even if you haven't perfected the move, your spectator doesn't always know what to look for so they'll miss a lot. I tried out a trick that was well above my skill level and felt that each move I did was really sloppy but still got away with them all. So try it out for friends and family even while you're still perfecting it.
