If you had put the spices in a tablespoon of melted butter and let it set a few minutes, the cinnamon/spices would bind to the fat and mix in better to the hot liquid. looks delicious.
Y'all have already had Thanksgiving so as a Canadian, I think it's really neighborly of you to support our Turkey day. This looks super delicious. Today I just found monk fruit mixed with allulose in the grocery store. I have avoided the monk fruit because of the erythritol but this will be a game changer for ME. I don't like the after taste of stevia so , like you, I lije the custard dishes without sweetner. The cream is already naturally sweet. 🍗🦃
Thank you, Anita! I decided to make this custard today - it’s chilling in the fridge right now! I’ll make the whipped cream tomorrow and enjoy this dessert for my birthday!!! 🎉Thank you so much!!!
Thank you for this carnivore approved custard recipe. I love custard!!! As a Carnivore I miss dairy desserts/patisseries/Ice cream and chocolate etc ...that's all I miss ...oh wait and sausages lol (can't get grain free).
I was literally talking to my friend about this food idea last night. I wake up and this was the first suggested video. Thank you and Happy Thanksgiving!
Thank you Anita. This is so unbelievably timely for my house. Just Saturday I was trying some recipes for holiday desserts. I've been nervous to use artificial sweeteners in baking. Allulose is best it is said. Well, also I had tried it on myself a little in coffee etc. Seemed to set ok in my belly. Hubby too. I found a Keto Chocolate Silk Pie recipe. It turned out beautifully. The pork panko crust was amazing despite my misgivings. We tried just a 1/2 serving. It was wonderful. The next day we felt great too. So, we had the other 1/2 serving for dessert that night. Oh boy it hit so hard! In the wee hours, I was terribly ill. I was miserable until today. The poison is in the dose. I had alot of gut troubles that were solved in a year of Keto and Carnivore. It all came roiling back. No sweets for me, Dang! That beautiful pie got hucked into the compost bin
Allulose does the same thing to me! My commiserations to you. When I [infrequently] have something sweet, I use liquid sucralose (no maltodextrin, available on Amazon). I've tried all the "natural" sweeteners without satisfactory results, so I threw my hands up and opted for sucralose. I should try glycine. It's not clear to me that eating a large quantity of a natural sweetener, such as erythritol, stevia or monkfruit is better for you than a tiny bit of sucralose.
Thank you for this terrific recipe! I absolutely love custard, and this will be the perfect treat for Thanksgiving. I need to order some vanilla powder now, I didn't know it came in that form. Thanks again!
@@CelticCarnivore8716 I bake on 350 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes. But I use canned coconut milk because I can’t do dairy, so not sure if that makes a difference in baking time
We literally had custard 2x a month, growing up And rice pudding the other 2x a month (weekly for both) PLUS jello pudding prob 4x a yr (butterscotch vanilla as my great aunt loved that & she made it lol)
Happy Thanksgiving! Looks yummy! I am going to try to tweak my traditional cheesecake recipe to be ketovore friendly. It has eggs, cream cheese, sour cream, vanilla and lemon juice. The only thing I need to omit is the sugar so I might do a substitute.
Thank you for this excellent tutorial - I will try this! At the moment I am ketogenic but aiming to be carnivore. I need some pseudo-desserts to bridge me to my goals and this looks like it will be perfect. Also, I love your kitchen set-up! I always look in the background to see how things are done (I have no desire to do what you are doing, which is fabulous. I’m just curious.) and you have excellent lighting and cameras at work. I’ll be watching more!
This is just what I needed for me to have a dessert at the Thanksgiving dinner. You never mentioned the amount of spice or vanilla that you added. I have both ingredients here at the house but need the measurements also on the sweetener if it is to be added. Thank you
🔆🔆🔆Here is a wild and crazy question, Anita.🥚 Can egg yolk powder be used in custard instead of fresh yolks⁉I never know what to do with the left over egg whites‼Beating the powder well into the cream…then proceed to bake the custard‼ Thank you. Gee I have never tried custard with yolk powder. You CAN do the custard with whole eggs, 1 egg per cup of liquid but I just like it best with the yolks.
What kind of pan is that? I have been looking for pans that have pour spots on them! I did not realize that it really matters which side the spot is on until my last pan I bought is for left handed people. I did look on your Amazon page and it is not on there. Also I LOVE custard!❤ Thank you for making this video even while you’re not eating any of it ❤
Hi Anita, great recipe, I tried to make a half batch at work in the toaster oven. Not great curdled I think I may have over baked it. Oh well. I love it without the sweetener. Question? did you grease the the bakeware? Have a very happy Friday. I just love your channel. I hope you are safe and well with all the wild weather BC is getting. How do you store the leftover whip cream?
The custard needs a slow bake in a water bath so I can see how the toaster oven may not work! But it's always worth a shot right? I freeze my leftover whipped cream, it freezes very well. No I didn't grease the bakeware. It's been pretty wild in BC, another smaller storm is coming tonight.
@@KetogenicWoman please stay safe. Yes I did do a water bath in the toaster oven but I baked it far too long. I love experimenting, and I do find the custard very filling. I never thought to freeze the whipped cream brilliant idea!
I know there is less fat in half and half, and there are more carbs in half and half...but if we wanted to ease the cost of buying organic, could we substitute organic half and half for the heavy cream? You probably didn't test that, but in your experience do you think that would still set as a custard? Thanks!
We always used milk growing up My family never bought cream except Turkey Day when they whipped it for pumpkin & apple pie Other times of the yr we had ice cream on our apple pies- we ate them almost monthly I much prefer it with cream but half milk would be fine.

Yum. After being sugar free for so long almost everything, including meat, tastes sweet to me! Age 78 and 18 months carnivore:)
