I don't think anyone EVER sang Kalinka better than Evgeny Belyaev. I've watched him sing it at the 1965 Tchaikovsky Hall concert that you uploaded some time ago and that performance is my absolute favourite, but this version is just as fascinating because his vocal and musical expression really are second to none. All his performances show great beauty, joy and skill and I am just so glad he recorded as much as he did and that you have undertaken to upload them for a new generation to appreciate. Thank you!
My grandma last asked me what kind of music I listen to and I played this. Then she started singing along (in Russian while we are Dutch) and she said that this was my grandfathers favourite music and he always played it on Sundays. And she gave me a couple of very old vinyls of the Alexandrov Ensemble and Ivan Rebroff and the soundtrack of doktor Zhivago. I wonder if I like this music so much because of him. That would be really interesting and I am going to ask it to my biology teacher lol. And thank you for the subtitles because she never had any idea what she sang until yesterday. Greetings from the Netherlands and hopefully when I finished learning Russian and when corona is over we go to Russia (I already convinced my mom) and go to al the beautiful places, of course including the Alexandrov Ensemble museum.

This song make me remember my Soviet friends. They went to Vietnam to help my university to rebuild after the US bombing in 1972. On the day they return to their country, before the plane took of, we had song this song together. That was such a beautiful memory that I can't forget.
It's never a waste of time to listen to one of the Great voices of the 20th Century. You know full well how much I admire Yevgeny and Kalinka being a much favored song.

Сижу, смотрю по ящику передачу, посвященную 95-летию ансамбля им.Александровна, слушаю Калинку в современном исполнении. Тут же вспомнил Беляева и, спасибо Ютюбу, нашел запись 75 года. Ребята - это неповторимо. И ансамбль и особенно Евгений Беляев. Помню, когда за рубежом исполняя Калинку ансамбль начиная с пьяниссимо обрушивал на зал всю свою мощь, зрители были в шоке. Бис был обязательным. И конечно же под Калинку танец Родниной с Улановым, а затем Зайцевым.
