- Today I talk about a good racing game that nobody cares about called modnation racers. It released on the Playstation 3 in like 2010, got some ok reviews, and then was looked over after Sony decided to stop caring about it. But I never forgot, so today, I'm gonna go ahead and talk about that one time that Sony had a Mario kart clone, and how it's actually really really good. Hope you like it

The creation station was amazing. I do agree with the stickers not having enough variety but the tools they gave you was amazing and made many incredible creations especially considering the limitations of the PS3.
I do wish you gave more effort into track creator and kart creator to realize that it’s more than enough to make a kart from zero to hero and a track into art.
The story wasn’t the best but the anchors sure were.
I agree with your note about his review of the track editor - I was able to figure it out as a 10 year old. You could make some incredible stuff in it.
The online community for this was so amazing. So much customization with characters and cars and creating a entire racing track including back grounds, buildings anything u wanted almost. Then going online playing other people level.
This game was incredible , why the hell isn't there more games like this across all platforms! Creating tracks etc ...just awesome.
I think for a sequel, sumo digital could develop the game. They recently developed some little big planet games, and are great at developing racers, so I'd trust them.
my friend introduced me to this game literally 2 days ago. claimed it was one of the best racing games he ever played and i was highly skeptical. it looked childish and dumb.
but then i played it....this game....is actually top tier. I love almost everything about it (except for those stupid robots that block the short cuts). the controls are simple and tight. the mission mode is pretty deep. the customization is actually pretty good i think! you can even change the size of some decorations which is something i rarely see in customizers for racing games (like the door knob size...and spikes sticking out of your vehicle. the multiplayer split screen just adds to the fun! up to 4 player split screen. so i believe him now...i had to hug him for introducing me to modnation racer.

@@Batstewie yea...must have been even crazier back then when the community was in full force. My friend had so much nostalgia playing that a part of me just kept playing just to boost the feeling.
the risk/reward mechanics in this game was perfection.

I'm just going to say that there is a better version of the game with more content for the psVita, it's called Modnation Racers Roadtrip.

I used to have the tour version of this! It let you build your own tracks. Banger sound track like "better and better"

It’s the stuff they play at the boardwalk carnival it’s good music
I used to love playing this game with my friends when it came out. The creation station was amazing because you could download other peoples creations and tracks and some of them were really cool. You really have to play it online to appreciate those aspects. Some people spent many many hours designing characters, cars, and tracks. And yeah the load times were terrible!
Very true, as a kid I never had the patience to really put time into making something substantial with the creator, but I downloaded a ton of awesome stuff! I’m also definitely not one who’s ever really good with creation tools in games in general, so I’m gonna have some predispositions when it comes to talking about to the creation station too lol
You can kinda still play ModNation Online. But only on an PS3 Emulator or I think on a Hacked/Jailbroken PS3. There are some Private Servers that Fans did to play Online. And there are good ModNation Racers Community Discords. But its kinda sad how Sony and half of the World forgot about this awesome Piece of Art that is called ModNation Racers
For the track creator it all comes down to what you wanna make and then plan for it. There are tons of amazing mods and tracks but you have to be willing to put in hours especially for the tracks.
I want to see a Modnation Racers and Cars Crossover. It would be interesting seeing Tag meet Lightning McQueen

I had the disc for this game and as someone who’s never really been a fan of racing games i absolutely loved this one back in the day… I’m sad they stopped supporting it cuz i lost my disc but they don’t sell it digitally I’m sick 😭
That's why digital sucks bum hole after mexican. But a PS3 and enjoy it the way it was meant to

all your gripes with the game are from a standpoint today, back then they were innovative and dope except the loading times lol but that was expected the game has storage on top of storage. I like the vid though. Im very sad this game was left in the past. Even thought the studio shut down sony has the rights to it with santa monica ik they could remake it. They should have remade it for the ps5 we are missing good kart racer games and imo this is the best one to ever exist
A remake of the game, or better yet a sequel, would be so so good on the ps5. It’s kinda a shame they ended up making a little big planet kart racer because it shows how they’ve kinda given up on ol’ modnation. I have my hopes up for something new for the series, but I’m sadly not expecting anything soon. Thanks for watching though lmao

Seriously? I spent hours creating karts and characters, anything from a V8 powered steam train to a heart powered (literally) cardboard car, a skeleton to a realistic race suit, there was sooo much you could do! Saying Modnation racers had bad customisation is like saying Mario Kart doesn’t have customisation.
Also the track creator is god tier fun… for me at least
The creation part was my favorite, I made Batman Goku power rangers Mario Luigi etc and I was really good at map creator I love this game with a passion

I remember this game I remember playing the demo for it and asking my parents for the game was pretty fun I remember spending a lot of time in the track maker as well as the kart maker and even got some of the dlc

actually yeah I just started playing it via emulation today using RPCS3, there were a few bugs at first but after looking into it online and activating a few settings it played exactly as I remembered it.

Dude how the f*** did you 100% career mode please tell me the strategies you use
I would say make sure speed is set to the max setting to make sure you’re always ahead of the pack, and always be drifting and when you can. Save your boost meter for shields unless you’re behind. That’s my strat
@@Batstewie I have the best strats and I still always never succeed like for example I drift nonstop and I use a strategy to spam boost and get the same speed for holding boost and I lose less boost meter
@@Batstewie not boosting makes others not boost spamming boost for less boost meter drain with same speed as holding boost and drifting a ridiculous amount of times saving power ups these are my strats
@@Batstewie and also you can block any attack with one single click of the shield button it drains less than holding
@@Batstewie did you know really famous people played mod nation racers like naughty Dog or family guy director and others it's insane that mod nation racers didn't get much attention even after the game being supported by famous legends
dude, you have a lot of old downloaded stuff. some fans broguth a server up to publish things again and you have a goldmine of skins and tracks. would you mind uploading them whilst checking out this fan server?
If I knew any way how to do so I totally would but I’m just not really any good with home brewing or doing anything like that with consoles. Is there a video to show me how or something I could go off of?

yes they rly rly need to bring this game back and bro i just heard u say load times are bad who cares geez the game is that good this goofy kart racer has best most indepth dirting mechanics ever done i am one of the Top track creators and i was also amoung the fastest top racers nothing will ever be able to compare to mod nation till they redo it again the dirting is so in depth that there is actully a scale of skill u can be so good compared to others that it wouldnt matter at all how many weapons u used im so fast or any one else as good as me could lap others this game needs to come back.....
Idk if something mnr related will happen one day… Sony forgot the Game, United Front is dead, and I feel like No One really remembers the Game… but I hope for a new mnr title or some sort of Appearance of mnr (cameo, easter egg etc in some kind of media like Game, Movie or TV-Show).
