    One of the co-writers of this movie is a guy named Doug Kenney (who was also one of the founders of National Lampoon magazine). Some people say that he wrote this movie to get back at his father, who was a tennis instructor at a country club. A lot of his humor involved "snob versus slob" conflicts.

    This was filmed in Fort Lauderdale, FL. They didn't have permission to blow up the golf course. The local airport thought a plane crashed. The two well known comedians, Bill Murray and Chevy Chase didn't have any scenes together, so they added the scene where Ty plays at night and visits Carl's equipment room/living quarters.

    This is one of the top comedies.
    Bill Murray and his brother Brian both starred in this movie. Below you see where some of the movie ideas came from.
    The six Murray brothers grew up on the North Shore of Chicago. Their parents, Ed and Lucille Murray raised nine children in a sweet little house on a leafy street in Wilmette, Illinois. As teenagers, the boys spent their summers working as caddies at the local private country club; it was that experience that inspired Brian Doyle Murray to write the classic golf comedy, Caddyshack. Many of the brothers participated in the making of the movie and can be found standing around in some of the funniest scenes.
    In the late 1990s, chef Andy Murray and his close friend and entrepreneur Mac Haskell, came up with the idea of taking the Caddyshack movie concept and pairing it with a restaurant. To ensure their asylum would stand out from the pack, they chose a Caddyshack/Murray family theme that would fit into the relaxed but lively mood of their ideal restaurant. The very first Murray Bros. Caddyshack restaurant opened in June 2001 in St. Augustine, Florida, home of the World Golf Hall of Fame.

    If you ever watch Hitchcock's PSYCHO (1960), there a closing scene was a jail-guard opens for a blanket for the inmate. That jail-guard is Ted Knight, plays Judge Smails in CADDYCSHACK. Quite a promotion - from a jail-guard to a bigwig judge!

    @Caseytify 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

    A great reaction. The original movie was supposed to be about the caddys, hence Caddyshack. The combination of Rodney Dangerfield, Ted Knight, Chevy Chase, and Bill Murray led to a lot of ad lib & improv scenes, to the point where the original plot got lost in the shuffle.
    After filming they had a lot of great scenes, but no connecting plot, which is where the gopher came in. By the way, the bit where Murray bit the head off of one of his plastic explosive figures is meant to mimic pulling the pin on a grenade, then dropping it down the hole. Thing is, that doesn't work in real life, except as a way to lose some teeth. It's a Hollywood thing that gained traction and never went away. The proper way is to hold the grenade in one hand, and pull the pin out with the other. Even then the grenade is (relatively) safe, as long as you're holding the lever down.

    The reason this film is so all over the place is that it is really two different films. When shooting began the plot of the film centered around Danny and Maggie but then Chevy Chase, Bill Murray, and Rodney Dangerfield all signed onto the film. Once that happened they had to try to squeeze those comedy legends into the film as much as possible so Danny and Maggie kind of became a subplot. To justify all the production time and costs they jammed as much of the shooting they could into the film even though it made less sense and was harder to follow by doing so. However all of that chaos also made it funnier.

    Hi Dasha. let me take you: way back b4 u were born to 198. although we already had a VHS player (pretty much the size of a washing machine) we only got our 1st local video shop. 4 me this was the ultimate paradise as I'd been a movie fanatic for over a decade by then but so restricted in range and availability. titles like Mad Max, Porky's Airplane. Police Academy, Warrior's and Caddyshack were my world. this was probably my first introduction to Bill Murray and he certainly steals the show along side the gopher. Chevy Chase was good too but the whole movie could have been just Bill vs Gophet (except for the brief nudity as I was a 15 teenager) and still been very very funny. a very find blast from the past.

    This movie was coming off the success of Animal House and introduced Hollywood to "Gonzo film making" where drug fueled fly by the seat of your pants produced the final product. If you watch the beginning of the movie and then toward the middle and end, it is two different movies. The original script was supposed to be about a struggling poor caddie. The wasted crew went so off script that Brian Murray, the author was furious.
    Side note: During the ballroom scene, you can see one of the National Lampoon guys with a plate of cocaine doing lines.

    26:11 its caddyshack, it's just the wilderness surrounding the wild people of the caddy shack. Thats why it's fun, there's no telling whats going to happen and all the things that happen with rich people in a competitive environment.
    Fletch is a great movie starring Chevy Chase thats a cult classic

    Young lady you explained yourself very nicely. Thank you for this reaction you're so energetic and Interactive. Ted Knight who plays the judge you need to check him out in the Mary Tyler Moore Show television series. The ultra-rich high roller play by Rodney Dangerfield check out his movies check out his stand-up comedy also on Johnny Carson late night talk show. Rodney Dangerfield "I don't get no respect" definitely check out the rest of the the characters the actors and actresses this was only 1980 so they went on to better things bigger and better. And thank you for staying on target with that gopher I believe he was the center, main character. Dasha check out the soundtrack this movie came with its own record of music very popular on the radio. Thank you again good night.

    The movie was supposed to focus more on danny and the Irish waitress but bill Murray and Chevy chase and Rodney dangerfield were improvising so much and it was funny so they decided to focus more on them then a romance between danny and the Irish girl. Chevy chase and bill Murray also hated each from their days on Saturday night live, Chevy has a reputation of being an asshole to work with and bill has a bad reputation for his treatment of women he’s working with.
    The caddy’s boss is bill Murray’s brother.

      At the time, it likely would have been either weed or cocaine. Possibly heroin, but that's always been seen as the drug of the poor or poorly-raised, so less common in an upper-middle-class neighborhood. Crack (freebased cocaine) also technically existed during this time, but again, was mostly a street drug in the big cities at the time.
