    So glad you did this video! I’ve been eyeing the Newbury line and was anxious to give it a shot! My issue with a lot of chrome tanned leathers is that I get one I love to work with then have a hard time getting it again in some cases. Great to see BuckleGuy making it happen.

    Look at you making me spend more money. I just ordered a side of the 8-10 oz! It's great to see you making more leather videos! I have learned so much from you the past few years. I just passed the 3 year mark with my business and it wouldn't have been so successful without your help. Even purchased 2 techsew machines bacause of your reviews.

    Thanks for doing these type of videos. I've been eyeing that Newbury leather for a month or so now. Based on your up-close view and feel, do you think it is actually tanned by Horween? Or any guess as to which tannery produces Newbury for BuckleGuy? I've been super hesitant to launch a new product line with Newbury leather, I wish BG would offer samples/straps for free for the first couple of months to let makers try this out.

    Parker the blue that you see on the edge is normal as it is Chrome tan totally different from veg tan procedure. Burnishing the edge is a pain but can be done and be like a glass shine. It cannot be dye throughout as it is Chrome again totally different procedure if you want I can fwd you a 12 pages PDF that explain the procedure. Also Acadian leather sell the same and cheaper plus free shipping in USA.

    I use crazy horse for allot of my bags and custom seats ...also best way to lose the distress is to spray with exotic leather spray...I would avoid using oil tan for belts

      What weight would you use for the outer shell versus the inner pockets? Would that hold true for most leathers, also? Thanks!

    As I understand if the blue/white still showing in middle means the leather has not fully cured and although looks good now over time it'll start to break.

    Hi there, very nice video. I'm very novice when it comes with leather info but I'm very interested. Whenever you say the color in the leather didn't strike all the way through. Does that mean it's semi aniline dyed bc fully aniline is the color going all the way through?

    • @tornasukiii745
      @tornasukiii745 ปีที่แล้ว

      To save time during the process they will dye the leather just long enough for the grain side and flesh side to take up dye but not enough for it to soak all the way through the whole hide. This is especially noticeable with chrome tanned leather (like Crazy Horse) because the leather will often be a light blue color before processing. Basically makes it look like an oreo lol.

  • @DavZell
    @DavZell 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    If you made a wallet out of the Mustang Crazy Horse, what weight would you use for the outer shell versus the inner pockets? Would that hold true for most leathers, also? I can never figure that part out. Thanks!

    • @whitandpark
      @whitandpark  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'd get 3/4 for a wallet, although it might be a little thick if you get to 3 layers. I usually like to use 2/3 for interior stuff if I can or I skive it down on my bell skiver. Other wise, get 3/4oz and try to keep the design of the wallet to 2 layers

    I love me some Crazy Horse. You can make some cool looking stuff out of that. Though Eric at Corter Leather has been showing off the Newbury's South Street. I got a couple panels of that recently and I have to say it looks pretty nice.
